I read a book on the Busch family, of Budweiser fame. It's fantastic. Very typical of family business dramas you'd see on TV and in movies. Caray was getting too popualr in St. Louis and was running around with either a Busch daughter or the wife of a Busch son. Also Busch beer was created because of the baseball stadium. The league wouldn't let him name the stadium after his beer so he named it after the family, then created the beer.

WGN played a big part obviously but for me specifically given my age it was huge that they didn't play night games at Wrigley. I was born in '73 so by the time I got to the age where I was too old to "go out and play" during the day, I'd sleep in until 10 or 11, lounge around all day, and watch the Cubs on WGN until going out in the evening or to work. From about 87-89 during the week I was watching them play during the day. I probably watched them more than the Tigers to be honest. That Cubs era has a special place for me.

I'm not an expert but I won't be upset if the team doesn't get Suarez.

https://www.instagram.com/reel/DMqXVv6SvES/?igsh=dWdhMHlhc2lmOThr According to that, when Clase comes into the game in the 9th, his first pitch “waste pitch” percentage (ball way out of the zone) is 17.5%. Every other pitch is 5%.

Why is Scott Harris making these guys get hurt?

I'd guess these are for "harmless" bets like certain pitches being balls.

Only 3 participants of the first 10 Wrestlemania main events are still alive. Ted DiBiase, Sgt Slaughter, and Bret Hart. (I'm not counting Mr. T as he wasn't a 'rassler' so to speak)

I feel like I went to every Mike Pelfrey and Jordan Zimmerman start ever made at Comerica Park.

Over the winter someone snuck into the old Hyatt in Dearborn and now's the video. Someone else bought it and from the outside they are doing real work to it. Its been through several owners since it closed as The Edward Hotel. A friend of mine was an electrician there his whole life and told me 1/3 of of it was sealed off at the time of closure. I hope something good can come of it but it's just too large to support as a hotel in today's environment and in that location.

When you go to Target near my house, on "The Hill" in Allen Park, you can a good view of it. Every few weeks I drive by it on Sunday evenings. Personally it will make going to visit our friend much easier as she's not far from the entry point on that side.

Ironic if we trade a prospect who goes on to mash for Suarez who was probably our worst prospect trade ever... yeah I know, Smoltz. But Smoltz wasn't a top prospect at the time and Doyle delivered.

You can see the capsule at the Wright Patterson AFB in Dayton. Although it's stripped of parts. That crew got in trouble for taking some stamps up to sell. It was quite the scandal at the time. They worked out a private deal with a collector to sell them after they all retired to set up college funds for their kids.

Apollo 15 crew was the last to grace the cover of Time magazine. There were two more landings after that. The only thing that made the last landing special, aside from being the last, was it was the only nighttime launch. It's amazing footage. We had a similar experience a few years ago when Artemis I launched. That system is comparable to a Saturn V. The landings evolved to scientific missions and the public isn't interested in that.

Purple shirt guy didn’t like the fact that a black guy, with dreads no less, had control of the situation. A white man needed to be in charge.

and I've seen conflicting accounts on whether the extra runner actually prevents what they claim. I also saw one that so far the visiting team won over 50% of the games and the idea being that since they are likely to score first, that puts the home team at a disadvantage because "team's play differnet when they are trailing...." I don't know. Seems like the goal if you are down in the bottom of the 10th is to still tie the game. You want to score the runner whether it's the top or bottom. In the top you have the pressure of knowing if you score they can tie it. In the bottom you have the advantage that if you are tied and you score, you win. Probably not enough data points to draw conclusions. So I'm against things that are done "just because". I need proof it's doing what you say it's doing. At least with a HR contest we know "This ends now."

I think the TV networks and gambling companies also have a say. The networks don't like things dragging on. They paid for something and the longer a game goes on the more it disrupts their operations and programming. So get the game over with. I believe it's a primary reason we got the pitch clock. A HR contest at the end presents all kinds of opportunities for wagers. Business is all about generating as much revenue and profit as possible. That's it. Every decision is made with that as the goal.

participation trophy. MAGA loves them.

I would rather have a swing off than a tie. But I'm not a fan of the swing offs in a regular season game. It's different than a shoot out in hockey. In hockey you win by scoring goals. You score goals by putting the puck in the net. That's the only way you score a goal. Yes I know there's more to in in terms of setting up and deflections and blocking the goalie, etc. But the shootout is still a contest between a player and a goalie. The hockey equivalent would be to set up plates in the goal and have guys shoot at them from the blue line like they do in teh ASG Skills contest. n baseball there's many ways to score a run. It can be by power like a HR. It could be due to speed via a baserunner. Instead of a HR why not time guys running from 2B to home and the best time wins? Like my thoughts on the ghost runner... if they insist on doing this and I have no say in the matter, then do it after 12 or 13 innings. Not the 10th.

Highest ratings for the ASG since 2017.

I don’t thjnk a single trump voter was influenced by Jon Stewart.

I thjnk that happens all the time. Not just during an ASG.
