RandyMarsh Posted June 18 Posted June 18 On the topic of former Tigers, predictably Kody Clemens is crashing back down to Earth after his Ruthian start with the Twins. Had 5HRs in his first 55ABs with them, since then only 1 in 41 while sporting an OPS in the 400s in that span. Quote

IdahoBert Posted June 18 Posted June 18 Did he actually no longer want to be referred to as Nick but instead as Nicholas? Because if this was his wish not a single news article about him referred to him as Nicholas and neither did his manager when he talked about him. I know people’s names are important so I’m not going to diss him for this. My actual name is Sir Bertrand John Jacob Jingleheimer-Schmidt XIV and I try not to make a big deal about it but it does bother me when I’m not shown the proper respect I think I deserve. On school trips as a kid it made name tags very problematic. 1 Quote

He HAD a 1 run lead. He gave up 2 silo home runs to lose the game. We've seen that movie here in Detroit in 2024. The announcer said the Yankees were among the few teams, including the Tigers, that haven't lost 4 games in a row. The Yankees lost so it's one less team on that list. 😆 The Yankee streak is at 5 losses in a row. Back to back shutouts...at home. Quote

CMRivdogs Posted June 18 Posted June 18 A bit more on the potential buyers. https://frontofficesports.com/newsletter/rays-near-sale-after-stadium-drama/ Quote The Rays made a brief statement Wednesday afternoon confirming talks to sell the franchise to the Zalupski-led group. “The Tampa Bay Rays announced that the team has recently commenced exclusive discussions with a group led by Patrick Zalupski, Bill Cosgrove, Ken Babby, and prominent Tampa Bay investors concerning a possible sale of the team,” the Rays said. “Neither the Rays nor the group will have further comment during the discussions.” Zalupski is the founder, chairman, and CEO of Dream Finders Homes, and has an estimated net worth of $1.4 billion. Cosgrove is the CEO of Union Home Mortgage. Babby, meanwhile, already has an extensive track record in baseball, currently serving as the founder and CEO of Fast Forward Group, owner of Fast Forward Sports Group, which operates the Triple-A Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp and Double-A Akron (Ohio) RubberDucks. It is one of the most successful ownership entities in Minor League Baseball. Quote

If you look at the Wild Card standings in both leagues, there are currently only about 8-9 teams that look like potential sellers. Hope that list increases by the deadline, or prices will be high for all of the potential buyers. Quote
