Ranier's ceiling might be the highest of all their prospects

Yeah- positional value at SS is hard to top, though if Max Clark matures into decent power that's a pretty nice ceiling as well.

As I sit with a keeper roster with Abrams, Wilson, and Neto and can't find anybody to pay up for one of them, I am wondering if shortstop is still the scarce position we think it is...

There’s a wide variety of productive shortstops nowadays.  25 years ago when I was into fantasy it was A-Rod/Nomar/Tejada/Jeter or bust.  Maybe you’d catch a couple good years out of a Rich Aurilia or Edgar Renteria….but beyond that you were fielding a SS in fantasy just because you had to, not because they added value

Whitecaps went into the bottom of the 9th down 2-1. McGonigle got it started with a one hopper over the wall. A walk and infield single later, Pacheco finished it with a walk off GS.

I want to see Pacheco at Erie before I get too excited about him cause I believe this is his 3rd straight year at WM. When you are on your 3rd year at the same level I would hope you start hitting there.

actually he finished 2022 there, so parts of 4 seasons at WMI, almost 1,000 plate appearances for White Caps. maybe he's finally healthy or something just clicked, but the last month is the anomaly

Pacheco is only 22.  Not unusual for minor leaguers to develop on slower timelines.  Parker Meadows spent a considerable amount of time in West Michigan.  He still K’s too much, which might catch up to him as he advances, but he was also a highly regarded 2nd rounder out of high school.  Also, like Meadows.

Pacheco is an interesting case; he has consistently run a high BABIP throughout the minors. Not counting the 18-game stint when he was a 19-year-old in WM, he has only been below a .300 BABIP once. He is currently sitting at a .403 unsustainable BABIP. That being said, he walks almost 15% of the time, and his K rate is 27%. I should also note that while Pacheco has been there quite some time he is still technically below the average age for the Midwest League.  I would love to see him hold this over for the first half of the year and then push him up to AA.

Pacheco's SLG% is up considerably this year...he was said to have plus power when he was drafted, could it be finally translating into game action.

Osorio is an interesting SS prospect...signed for $2.2 million a few years ago.

i go to a few WM games every year and i thought that Parker Meadows was a guarenteed bust. To see him progress to where he is now gives me hope that the new organization is just better at developing hitters than the previous one.
