Shinzaki Posted June 6 Posted June 6 DSL has started...will be fun to track how Chris Rodriguez does. He's the highest rated international signing the Tigers have landed in a long while ...if ever 1 Quote

papalawrence Posted June 6 Posted June 6 Take a gander at McGonigle's stat line at WM this year. The Tigers seem to have as many foundational pieces coming up to rival what happened in Motown in the late 70s and early 80s https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=mcgoni000kev Quote
RandyMarsh Posted June 6 Posted June 6 McGonigle up to 4th overall in BA's top 100. Clark at 13, Rainer 31(before injury) and Briceno and Liranzo in the back end of the list. Quote
papalawrence Posted June 6 Posted June 6 With AZ fall and 2025 WM, Briceno has 23 home runs in his last 231 at-bats https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=bricen003jos 1 Quote

I'm sure the umpires like that the surface can't move/flex, but how many arm, foot and knee injuries per year is that worth? 1 Quote

Watching the tape of the incident, it looks like he fell awkwardly to the ground before he touched the base. Quote

IdahoBert Posted June 7 Posted June 7 The Tigers have three guys at West Michigan who are 20 years old - Clark, McGonigle, Briceno — who are all doing well. Is it the team drafting and signing philosophy to avoid College players or is it just happenstance and they felt these guys will have the highest ceiling? Briceno as an international signing and would I guess be in a different category. Jobe however would be another example of this philosophy or happenstance occurrence. Quote

IDK if it's on purpose or best player available. It is a good way to go if you have patience, if your major league team is winning, you don't need the talent at the ML level as fast. And I won't argue with the success Harris is having. He's quickly rebuilt this entire organization. Quote

SoCalTiger Posted June 8 Posted June 8 I hope Rainer has a full recovery and maintains his arm strength. Any word that will be the case ? Can he still work on something this year to not lose an entire year of training? Quote

He's quickly rebuilt this entire organization. Some have suggested we might lose Harris because he must be motivated by money like everyone else. Perhaps he wants to go back to San Francisco and enjoy more wine and cheese parties. That strikes me as a serious misread. I don’t think he’s that shallow. He’s not done here. He hasn’t turned this team into a perennial contender and terraformed the entire organization, but we can see this goal being actualized. This is a life‘s work that few are allowed to undertake with the possibility of success. It’s like an amazing transcontinental chess match. It has to be really rewarding for him to be responsible for it and to know his fingerprints are on everything. I feel fortunate to be a witness to it. Quote

I was working on PT a week after my first shoulder replacement, so I'm sure he'll be working on physical therapy as soon as he can. 2 Quote

SF really makes no sense as Buster Posy is now is charge and Harris would have to report to him. That's a demotion no matter what your title is. Not sure is it "shallow" to want to be in charge, but that is exactly what Harris has in Detroit. Control - control from a hands off owner who spends on all sorts of things whenever he is asked to by Avila and Harris. I know we are supposed to say Ilitch is cheap, but that's not true. Harris has pissed away $50M on 3 contract to Boyd, Maeda and Cobb and gotten zero in return, and we have not heard a peep from Ilitch about it. They are poised to be competitive for the long term. 2 Quote
