lordstanley Posted June 1 Posted June 1 Mariners win! The lead is 6 over Cleveland, 7 over Minnesota, 8 over KC. Quote

But they ended up winning in a ninth thinning walk off, so the Twins have lost two games in a row. And even with most of the Central teams getting beat up lately, the AL Central is the only division in baseball to have five teams at .500 or over Quote
IdahoBert Posted June 1 Posted June 1 The Tigers had better be prepared to start hitting again and win at least three of these four games against the lowly Chicago White Sox. Actually, I’d like them to go all Lawrence of Arabia on them and win all four. Quote

IdahoBert Posted June 2 Posted June 2 The Dodgers and the Yankees are live on ESPN right now and what I’m thinking is that if I’m stuck watching those two teams in the World Series again this fall I’m going to be really really really disappointed. Quote

I don't really care, I just need to know or I'll be laying in bed tonight still wondering about how the rules work. If a starter doesn't go 5 it's up to the discretion of the scorer. He thought Lee made the biggest contribution. That's all there is. Edited June 2 by gehringer_2 Quote

He' chewing scenery like a ham but his acting performance just serves as the tune in a Hank Williams sr. song: it carries the outstanding main art. In Hank Williams sr.'s case it was the lyrics, in Lawrence of Arabia the breathtaking film-making. 1 Quote

If KC starts to hit at all they are going to be heard from. 1 Quote

If KC starts to hit at all they are going to be heard from. It was just uncanny how they couldn’t put wood on the ball solidly. I’m just not used to that. The art of pitching that makes putting wood on the ball solidly difficult is an unusual talent unevenly distributed. To see this talent showcased repeatedly it’s not something to take lightly. I’m still envious of how Kansas City has won two World Series since our team won their last. In October 1985, I was traveling through Europe and whenever you were in a bar in the Netherlands, the World Series with the Royals was on and people were watching it and it just amazed me. I didn’t realize how popular baseball was in Holland. Quote

Wow, I had to look that up because like I said I was traveling and pretty disconnected and doing other pretty thrilling stuff and not paying attention to things like that in 1985. That had to be a real gut-slammer to Cardinals fans. Quote
Klondike Posted June 2 Posted June 2 Another snoozer. I'll take.em'. Keep winning divisional snoozer series'. The Chisux next. Quote

That's all there is. Right, there is no algorithmic rule. In the vast majority of cases, it goes to the first reliever who comes in, but there is no rule which says it has to go to him. Even the practice of rewarding the win to a reliever who was in the game when the team took the lead is not a rule. If that reliever is very ineffective, the scorer does not have to give him the win. Then 1987 came and that hurt too b/c no way could I root for the Twins. Quote

CMRivdogs Posted June 2 Posted June 2 Once upon a time when I was a wee lad of 12, I placed a few bets with newfound friends in a new town. I was the new kid and a "Yankee" at that. While I was a Pirate fan at heart, they were not World Series bound for a few more years in 1964. I was never a fan of their National League rival. I had about $10 or so riding on that series. I've really hated both teams ever since. Quote
