IdahoBert Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago So aside from the fact that it’s raining right now according to both of my weather apps, it looks like after ceasing for a while it then will then rain again around game time which is disheartening. But it would also be disheartening to have an indoor stadium reminiscent of the expansive catacombs out of one of Ridley Scott’s Alien movies. Quote

I lived in Seattle from 1991-2000, and have been in Minneapolis the past 25 years. So my home stadiums were the Kingdome and then the Metrodome/Glad-bag-dome for many years, until Target Field was built. Horrible venues to watch a game (Target Field is excellent)! I'd never want that for Detroit either, but perhaps a retractable roof would have been useful for poor weather Edited 22 hours ago by papalawrence Quote

Since Comerica opened in 2000, I would assume an enclosed park would look something like the one in Milwaukee which opened about the same time (2001). Hopefully the Illitches would have enough forethought to have a retractable roof. If it was designed to be able to see the skyline when open it wouldn't be bad... Quote
CaliforniaDreaming Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago I really like Seattle's stadium. Even when the roof is "closed", it is still open to the outdoors. It feels like the best of both worlds. 1 Quote

Then went to the opening series this season and knew the roof would be closed but didn’t know I’d still be exposed to the elements, lol, just no rain. Quote

Adullin Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago Its Skubal day. The problem is after blowing a team out like yesterday is they always come back and play hard the next day. But I have high hopes I say 5-0 Tigers. Quote

They’ve got a Deeetroit native on the mound as well. The kid went to Wayne State. Something may be in the air tonight. Quote

Odds are subject to change....😆 Quote
oblong Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago I would never want a dome here.... the weather isnt that bad. If MN can get by without one, so can we. My wife makes fun of me for never wanting to go to a Rays game when we've done our vacations down in that area. Inside baseball stadiums are not appealing to me at all Quote

It was still hot and humid as balls when I saw a game there. Quote

Yeah, baseball is the kind of game where, because of the bouncing ball, Skubal could get chased in the second inning and we could end up losing 12-1 or something. BTW, the seeming inexorability of Skubal's march to a second straight Cy Young seems to be somewhat in jeopardy, based on the past three starts. Quote

Inside baseball stadiums are not appealing to me at all I get it, Domes like Tampa's, the old Astrodome and the Baggie in Minnesota all seemed to sterile, at least on TV. We attended a few Brewers games in Milwaukee when Millef Park first opened. It was ok, once again a different feel when the roof was closed. The same with the Silverdome, very sterile. Baseball and football should be played outdoors the way the gods intended. With real grass. 1 Quote
IdahoBert Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago One of my old buds from Detroit that I met in Tucson ended up moving down to Clearwater, Florida. And he likes Tropicana Field and is forgiving of all its deficits because the heat and humidity is insufferable and it’s comfortable inside. He also says he’s never had a problem getting a ticket. IdahoBert Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago By the way, is Dingler’s absolutely awesome helmet worn only on special occasions? Of course, I guess if he wore it every day that would destroy the dignity of the game, unlike gambling. 1 Quote
