RandyMarsh
Damn Carl Weathers died, only posting it here cause the last thing I saw of him was the Fan Duel commercial with Gronk during the Lions game last week and then commenting on how he gave me "Aaron Glenn vibes" with his gray facial hair. Why they wouldn't hire an offensive-minded head coach is beyond me. Quinn had success in Atlanta but failed to do much of anything in a weak AFC South after his wiz kid OC Kyle Shanahan left for San Francisco. This was a lousy hire and the wrong direction for the Commanders to take. I would have promoted Eric Bieniemy to see what he can do before going with a retread like Dan Quinn. It seems like they may have gotten desperate after missing out on Ben Johnson and just settled on Quinn. Look at Bieniemy's past. I know his troubles were a long time ago, but are you putting the fate of your billion dollar business in the hands of someone with a past like that? I'm sure not. Don't care what his skin tone is. That's why he's not getting gigs. Is it fair? Maybe not, but it's understandable. College pranks are one thing, but there are other things you do at that age that are going to stay with you forever. I wish more young people understood that, but when you are a star recruit and have everyone, including older people kissing up to you from the time you're 16 your sense of right and wrong is gonna get skewed. It's why I like how Jameson Williams' father responded to the question about his son's suspension. He didn't blame anyone else. But to your point (and mine) about Quinn. I don't get it. It's a very Snyderesque kind of move. The job was Ben Johnson's for the taking. But there are other Offensive minds out there. That Green Bay game alone should have disqualified Quinn. That was brutal. The Super Bowl year was a Shanahan-led fluke. Edited February 4 by Motor City Sonics

I saw somebody mention that and I think the host was Keegan-Michael Kay, a Detroit native and Huge Lions fans(think he was on the sideline for all the playoff games). It probably felt good for him to use that joke since for years the Lions would usually be the ones on the butt end of a line like that.

Jason_R
On the other side of the spectrum is the guy I just saw in the grocery store parking lot wearing a Carolina Panthers #80 jersey. I guess he is still holding on to hope that their 2007 second round pick Dwayne Jarrett will pan out.
Motor City Sonics
Not gonna watch the Taylor Swift video posing as an NFL game. Nothing against her, she's pretty cool - takes care of those who take care of her. But still, the NFL scriptwriters had to have her there. I wonder how much the Ravens got paid. And look, I am fairly certain the Lions will be in that position at least one more time, if not several. Remember, the Chiefs had the Patriots beat in the AFC Championship with a game-sealing interception, but a guy lined up in the neutral zone. They came back. The Niners lost the last two NFC title games. They came back. Lions better get a good kicker this off season.

I think. I can't remember in my old age... Maybe a half or something? Or on in the background just for noise while I did something else maybe... I honestly can't remember anything, from any Super Bowl. If I had the game on at all (can't remember)... it must not have really been important to me. The Lions were never in one so... I didn't care. Weirdly... I'm actually interested in this one. What is this "Super Bowl" thing that everyone gets so excited about? The Detroit Lions almost made it to this thingamajig this year... Yes? Could they make it next year, maybe? So what is this thing all about? Hey, I think I'm actually going to watch because... I wanna see the Lions in one or a few of these things... like, maybe, starting in 2025? So... let me check this out and see what all the hubbub is for... Hey, if Brad Holmes keeps drafting even 75% as well as he has so far, we're going to be like the Steelers where making the going 9-8 and making the playoffs is a failure. I know we will pick 29th or 30th this year, but he always seems to get more than the pick value. Offseason shopping list Great Pass Rusher (free agent?) At least one Corner (probably in the draft) Guard (2nd/3rd Round). Probably won't sign Jonah. They have to consider all these young players who will be owed money at the same time. Can't keep 'em all. Wide Receiver Depth Tight End Depth If you get another great pass rusher than it will make your defensive backs a little better. How many times did they get frustratingly close to wrapping up a QB last year? Fix that and a lot of other things happen. Good WRs will always rack up yards vs. AG's super aggressive defense, but they stiffened up in the red zone. Who cares if a WR gets a bunch of stats? Go get the best Kicker available, however you can. I think it did play a part in some of the 4th downs this past season. This team is achingly close. But you know what? Even if they don't win the whole thing. Give me these edge-of-my-seat into January seasons every year. Better than opting to go to the Cider Mill by Mid-November. The Lions should be there and if they had been, the hype level would be off the charts. Yep, just showed Joe Montana ramping up the crowd. And I’m thinking it could have been the NFC championship game’s other honorary captain instead, Barry Sanders.

lordstanley
Chiefs have done absolutely nothing except for one big play that was immediately followed by a fumble. Lucky to be down only 3-0.

RandyMarsh
Down 3 around the red zone and facing a 4th and 3, Shanahan doesn't "take the points" instead goes for it and 2 plays later they score the TD and are back in front. lordstanley
So far today Moody has held a record that lasted about an hour for longest Super Bowl FG ever, then missed an extra point. Pretty good chance he will be asked to attempt a FG to break a tie inside of two minutes in regulation.
