remember how everyone said how great and transcendant the 2021 qb class would be?

they all suck.  lawrence is the only one who is decent and he's been underwhelming.

its like that with almost every qb class.  and it will be like that again for this qb class.

The 2020 class would like a word with you.

when its a year like this year with a bunch of qbs at the top, you usually get one great one, one or two good ones, and a bunch of journeymen clip holders.

heck, the 2021 class might go down as one of the WORST qb classes.  certainly the most overhyped.

ah yes, who can forget tpfan and his rant that brad holmes was a terrible gm because he took a TACKLE over justin fields.

I hate seeing the mock drafts with JJ going to Minnesota. I don't want to see him twice a season.

And it took me a few games to let tp rant. It kinda drove me nuts a few times...

Seeing reports that the Bears are now looking at a site in Southside Chicago for their new stadium.

I wonder if they've talked to the Sox about going in on this dream of a sports complex.

I read the White Sox are eying the 78 site for their stadium and it looks like a pretty cool site. The sightlines from the stadium would be pretty epic. Knowing the White Sox though, they'll face the stadium in the other direction.

I'm just wondering, if the White Sox move, would the old Comiskey site be viable for the Bears?

Here's my "hot take" on this... Going from college to the pros is hard. MOST players will not become stars in the NFL. Most draft picks will be "just okay" or worse. So yeah... anytime a class is touted as rich in position 'X,' most of those players will not amount to much.

south of soldier field is not really "the south side."  its right next to soldier field.

the bears are likely bluffing.  they paid $250 million for the site in arlington heights and have already begun work tearing down the existing structure.  but because theyre the bears (i.e.: run by morons), they didnt plan on the locals not giving them public money and a big tax cut.  when the local school districts told the bears to go **** themselves, they suddenly decided they wanted to stay in chicago.

that site is on the lakefront.  the "friends of the lakefront" group will tie this matter up in litigation for years before they allow the bears to build anything there.  we were supposed to have a george lucas star wars museum there but the "friends" blocked it in court and lucas finally left and put it in LA.  they will do the same thing for the bears.

moreover, that site is park district land which may necessitate the bears letting the park district run the stadium like they do now, which means less money for the bears.

the likely scenario is still that the bears move to arlington heights.  it makes the most sense for everyone.  this romantic idea of "bear weather" and "being on the lakefront" is the kind of thing that stupid people think about, not sophisticated business people running a multi-billion operation.

but since were talking about the bears, "sophisticated business people" does not apply.

i'm really hoping the city and state give the white sox and bears nothing.  the thought of the sox moving to nashville would make me so happy.  but that wont happen.  the city will fold and give them whatever they want.  the state will give them a bunch of tax revenue backed bonds that my tax dollars will be paying back for the next 30 years.  they still owe hundreds of millions for the soldier field renovation.

the best bet is that the bears end up in arlington heights.  there has been no real talk here about them building anything on the comiskey site, its all focused on arlington heights and the lakefront.

I agree for the most part. I always thought the Arlington Park Race Track was a great location for a stadium. You forgot about the grief the Obama Library received from the Friends of the Lake as well.

Where exactly does Southside Chicago actually start. Our time there was spent mostly in the western suburbs. My wife's job was in Streeterville. I spent a lot of time either commuting to what used to be Palwaukee Airport or the Merchandise Mart. Anything south of Grant Park was always "Southside" in my mind as a foreigner

I think the Southside starts where the trendy bars and restaurants become cash for gold pawn shops and payday loan centers.

depends how you mean it.

technically the dividing line is madison in the loop.  i dont consider places like the commodities exchange to be on the "southside."

the "78" is just below the loop.  south loop they call it now.  the bears current stadium is south of the dividing line, do they play on the "southside"?  i dont think so, they play on the lakefront.  buckingham fountain is too.

so to me just south of soldier field on the lakefront isnt "the southside."  its the lakefront.

There are some really nice areas Southside, you need to explore around University of Chicago or the Museum of Science and Industry. But that would be considered Lake Front, I guess.

Hyde Park used to be nice, checking Zillow it's still out of my league

Hyde Park reminded me of Grosse Pointe. People with means who shielded themselves off from the undesirables. I understand Grosse Pointe is a separate municipality but those were the vibes I got.

the southside and south suburbs reminds me of detroit.  working class, lots of strip malls, some ethnic enclaves.  majority black.

hyde park is nice.  bronzeville has some nice areas to it.  i know people who live in south shore who like it.

pilsen is the southside but its gentrfying very quickly.  becoming more like the north side east of ashland.  west to western is developing but is still very mexican.  little village is all mexican.  but now youre getting more into whether youre in the "west" or "south."

traditionally (at least in the last 30-40 years since the great influx of mexican immigrants) the south side is black, the north side is white, and the west side is mexican.  that's a way too general way to look at it, but there's some truth to it.

a lot of the southside is not very nice.  back of the yards, etc.

the west side is worse in a lot of places.

but the northside is my favorite place in the whole country.  one of the greatest parts of the greatest city in america.
