Odds are Malloy wouldn't have played especially since he can't play any position. Ibanez and Jones are ahead of him against LH pitching and I think the Mariners have a total of 1 LH. 1 Quote

Doesn’t have to worry about them matching up against Keith, Carp, Greene, and McStink. Gives him some nice options settting his batting order as well. Quote

And if so (say Keith doesn’t start for some strange reason), mckinstry would play short and we still have plenty of bench options to play 3rd or OF. Malloy pinch hitting seems less remote than needing Sweeney. if only we had a good left handed batter available that could play short and 2B as a better option off the bench. One with great plate discipline to give a good late inning AB. Quote

Sweeney’s action might depend upon McKinstry or Baez ending up on the OF. Maybe not likely, especially for Baez, but we’ll see. Something like Ibanez pinch hits for Carpenter, McKinstry goes out to RF, Sweeney is around if needed? Or could this be a case where he’s insurance if Keith aggravates his injury? 1 1 Quote
