Zero IQ hitter yup - he takes too many pitchers he needs to swing at. I don't remember any recent hitter where that was so big an issue. Edited Wednesday at 01:45 AM by gehringer_2 Quote
kdog Posted Wednesday at 01:44 AM Posted Wednesday at 01:44 AM Tork and Wenceel would be gone in a normal roster year. Now they are just stuck playing these corpses every night. Quote
monkeytargets39 Posted Wednesday at 01:51 AM Posted Wednesday at 01:51 AM Ok. I’ve hit my breaking point. This coming from someone who watched/listened/gamedayd every game in 2003. If Wenceel Perez is on this roster tomorrow, I’m done until the trade deadline. There HAS to be accountability. Quote
kdog Posted Wednesday at 01:56 AM Posted Wednesday at 01:56 AM Bad bullpen, bad offense and defense, starting pitching aside from Jack has been fine: Quote
theroundsquare Posted Wednesday at 01:58 AM Posted Wednesday at 01:58 AM meanwhile the guy that they exposed to the rule five (V) draft just hit his 10th homer of the year. sigh Quote

Tigermojo Posted Wednesday at 02:13 AM Posted Wednesday at 02:13 AM Better plays by Vierling and Perez probably prevents half those runs tonight. Two part time players forced into full time roles because of injuries. Quote

The injuries started the downturn but there is something rotten with the core of the team that needs to be looked at. I still think its a leadership issue in the clubhouse. There is no dog in there to motivate them and/or to call people out. Quote

I think the irresponsible ABs are something where the clubhouse may play a part, but the pitchers are just struggling - Vest's velo is down, Jansen's and Hurter's command is off, Montero is being asked to do more than he is able. I don't think the pitching woes are clubhouse issues, other than that maybe Flaherty is a head case. But if someone could set a bomb off below these hitters that would make a difference I'd be good with it. Quote

That was a major sign the Vest didnt have his best stuff. So with a totally rested bullpen, Hinch ran him back out there. The blame for this is totally on Vest and Hinch. After Vest walked Trout, he shoulda been pulled. But in a world where a manager isn't asleep, Vest would never have started the 8th. 2 Quote

romad1 Posted Wednesday at 10:34 AM Posted Wednesday at 10:34 AM I have checked out as much as I can for a team I love. You can't subject yourself to hope when you know something is fundamentally broken somewhere. I could speculate about clubhouse, coaching, data-driven approaches all being bust but the one thing that they were bad at in the off season was not bringing in hitting help (even symbolic help). The team that nearly beat the Mariners in 7 games is not out there the last month. 1 Quote
Motor City Sonics Posted Wednesday at 11:18 AM Posted Wednesday at 11:18 AM This is like the famous Eddie & The Cruisers album that disappeared A SEASON IN HELL ! What a mess. The return of Baez, Carpetner, Meadows and Skubal won't save them. Only question about the rest of this season is what they can get for Skuban and/or Mize. 1 Quote

I keep championing for Ben Malgeri to replace him. I don't know if he'd be any better, but he can't possibly be worse. But you know what, this manager and front office has waited to long to make the moves. This season is over and the people responsible for this shouldn't be here anymore. Players, coaches and all. Goodbye ! 1 Quote
Motor City Sonics Posted Wednesday at 11:23 AM Posted Wednesday at 11:23 AM I was pulling for Veirling, but I'm done with him too. This was his chance to show he's an actual major league player and he's just crapped his pants. Move on from him too. Try anything. Just do something different, but they've fallen so far out of even the worst division that it's just over now. Again, please tell me why A.J. Hinch seems so untouchable. Quote
