Harris should be fired.  He hasn't helped the offense since he has been here.

People gush over him because he says the word analytics.

No, using analytics is a good thing, used properly. Just like anything else, used incorrectly and it can be a disaster.

Another embarrassment.   No changes will be made unless there's an injury.

They're tanking to justify trading Skubal to the fans.

They increased the payroll to ~$200 million and decided to tank? When Harris never makes any significant trades? No way, it's just very poor management, injuries and players not performing. A perfect storm of suckatude. Not going to go into a conspiracy theory level.....

Nobody is getting fired nor should they. Are there things that I would like to be done differently heck yes ! Am I glad it's Harris making these decisions and not me double heck yes !!!

We over performed the last two years and it was reasonable to expect improvement from the same players plus Kevin McGonigle plus  Framer Valdez and two more veteran bullpen arms. Regression, injuries and older guys falling off the cliff all happened at the same time equaling FUBAR for 2026.

The best way to learn, and the hardest, is trail and error and failure. Harris has now experienced this and he will learn from that and make adjustments. IF he doesn't THEN you get the pitch forks out and I will lead the charge.

Now is Scott Harris's moment of truth.

I'm not saying it's bad, but it's just a buzz word that he throws out there to sound impressive.

Half game up on the Rockies for worst in mlb. Next up, at Tampa where the Rays are 20-6. Good times ahead....

Looking too far ahead.  They still have to get their ass kicked tomorrow by the ChiSox.

This is why you go for it when you have the chance.  you never know what next year brings.  progress is not linear.

Which is how you convince someone to overpay for 1/3 of a season of Skubal

An explanation of analytics used incorrectly;

I see some Padre bias in here! It's pretty general all along and then all of the sudden it throws in a Larry Walker/ Tony Gwynn comparison.  I think someone was upset that Gwynn and Walker have about the same WAR.  😁

Trading for a guy who can give you a legit shot to win it all is much better than keeping prospects that won't ever contribute to the big league club or will give you 5 or 6 years of mediocrity from Jeimer Candelaria-esque players.

A few years ago they could have traded guys like Jace Jung for established players to help down the stretch but can't give up any prospects.

If anyone despises analytics and wants them out of the game, there are literally thousands of games on YouTube from the 1990s and before that they can go and enjoy.

That's not what anyone is saying.  They are saying the guy we have who is running the analytics sucks at his job. Mr. Harris

Analytics is no panacea in the player development process, it's still only a tool that can tell you much more accurately what a guy is now, and help you show a guy what to do next; but projecting what guys will be in two or three years after they put in more or less work or get more or less strong or big or do or don't take care of their conditioning or end up more or less injured is still a very inexact science because you have a very non-analytic human being at the center of the process - and great analytics is also no guarantee you have the good coaching to pair with it. You're not going to improve many players by just throwing spreadsheets at them - you need people with people skills to instruct and motivate.
