Yesterday during Riley's post game conference a reporter asked him about leaving and brought up LSU first so Riley said "Let me stop you right there, I'm not going to be the next coach at LSU." lol in hindsight that is such a sly answer.2 points

The initial indication is the Omicron variant is less severe. It needs to be studied more but hopefully this holds true.2 points

To all those preferring Baez on the shorter deal... No thank you. I'd rather Correa at 10 years/$340 mill than Baez at 5 years/ $125 mill. If it's Story I would be interested, but not Baez.2 points

i think he gets more than lindor. its a year later and the prices always go up. and he's arguably just as good or better than what lindor was.1 point

Semien and the Rangers raised the bar for everyone not named Carlos.1 point

I mean if you're in the "anti tank" crowd and want less terrible teams throughout the league you have to be happy with this Rangers and Semien deal. The Rangers by all accounts are still atleast a few years away from being serious competitors even with a Semien like deal yet they still went out and threw big money at a 31 year old SS. This definitely goes against all the moves in recent history that MLB clubs have made.1 point

This is the third out of the last four Sundays without a Lions loss!1 point

I kind of suspect the Rangers will be in on Correa until the end. I’m not sure that means the next couple of days. I’m not really sure how the upcoming CBA affects him or the other top few FAs. I suspect they will still get theirs and it’s the other FAs that might be looking to lock up whatever offers they might have. But that’s just an uneducated guess.1 point

It is 1:55 Eastern Standard Time on Sunday, November 28, 2021. We will know who our shortstop is 24 hours from now. And I, for one, would like to welcome our new starting shortstop Andrelton Simmons. I'd like to remind him as a trusted radio personality I could be useful in rounding up others to toil in his underground sugar caves.1 point

He should take the same test Trump took. When he passes, he will be a genius. I best he can even identify an elephant if they show him a picture.1 point

Surgery near the end of September, about 4 month estimated recovery. So ideally looking like end of January? The word has been quiet, I know one of the announcers mentioned seeing him high fiving in the room after a game and he said he was hoping to return quicker than 4 months. But I would say no news is probably bad news and he's still rehabbing. I'm intrigued to see how he fits to the lineup, adding a dangerous shot is always nice.1 point

OSU had had a good match all year with their O and D. Their pass D is much better than their run D, but since their O was good enough to get out to leads against other teams, they didn't face too much determined running all year. That's been their MO under Day for a while now. Michigan ended up the nightmare matchup for them exactly because the pass rush made it just hard enough for their passing game that they couldn't ever put M out of the run game. You might even think Harbaugh and MacDonald sat down and thought about how to build a team to beat them........ It was interesting to watch OSU's linebacker alignment. They started narrowing their sets and then at one point M gashed them for two consecutive outside runs, first one side (Corum's first touch I think) then they came right back to the other side and beat them around it as well. After that OSU generally kept the OLBs wider and just reigned themselves to trying to keep M running to the middle as the lesser evil.1 point

A team that goes winless shouldn’t let their scheme impact any future decisions. Actually, a team that goes winless should probably change their scheme.1 point

this. These are all very good ball players, all capable of putting up 5-6 WAR seasons. The last SSs we had that gave us a 6 WAR season were Trammell (6 times) Guillen (once) and we averaged 92 wins when they did.1 point

Since we all seem to be agreed that the 5 top SS FAs would be a significant improvement to the team, I would shift the focus to dollars and years. I, like many here, am generally okay with the idea that a star will fade at the end of a long contract. But length does matter (😎). I would like them to sign one of these guys to the shortest deal that still makes sense. For some, like Semien, that is partly age related, but the basic idea is to get the best years they have left in the tank. And also to have the money after the contract is over to apply to other areas of need. We have bemoaned to feast or famine nature of the team’s fortunes and want a more sustainable competitive future. i hope AA is getting all the player asks and options figured out, but that the rare glut of top SSs means they can target a shorter length as a priority. The idea of opt-outs is interesting, but complicates things. TL;DR Find out what the shortest contract each SS will take, rank them with other factors and get one.1 point

yeah, I don't think it's safe to say any of them have been dismissed. All that is really safe to say is that they are pursuing free agent shortstops.1 point

I think a lot of the reporting is interesting and impacts my view of the likelihood of signing Correa, I just don't buy the idea that anything that anything that's been reported to-date means that signing Correa is impossible. It all looks like a negotiation to me, a lot of which is playing out in the press. The Tigers are trying to get the best deal for their money among the five shortstops, Carlos Correa is trying to get what he thinks he's owed. And with respect to Correa, who knows... he may think he's worth 10/341, but maybe he'll find that no teams think he's worth that.1 point

Not in a hundred million years did I see this coming. I was completely wrong and doubted Jim Harbaugh and company all season long. I never had an ounce of faith. I thought they'd lose 62-30 and get rolled over. This was Jim Harbaugh's finest hour as a head coach. Simply a phenomenal performance by his offensive line, Haskins was incredible running the ball, and the defense got big stops when they needed it. Jim Harbaugh, Josh Gattis, Mike McDonald truly deserve all the props on this one. They out coached Ryan Day and they had their team better prepared.1 point

We don’t know where the new variant originated. South Africa is where it was first detected and sequenced because they are doing a great job at those things. Since we don’t know where they begin trying to assign a geographic name is ignorant and inaccurate.1 point

Completely blown away. I’ve been waiting on this for months as well and it was even better than I hoped. Amazing to witness their songwriting process. It definitely makes me wonder about the meanings of songs and their lyrical content. There’s an assumption from fans of most bands that every word of their favorite songs are carefully crafted and unusual parts have deep ulterior meanings. Turns out many times they just find something that fits in with the music and the few lines they already had and just add it on the fly because it sounds good in the moment. I did like how they reference Clapton and his long solos and improvisation and since Jam music and bands didn’t really exist, they just call this Jazz. I did enjoy the subtle comment about “chemical tea” and the ensuing session where it’s obvious they have been taking LSD. Incredible at some of those experiential sessions and the massive smiles they all have. This was a time shortly after Yoko had a miscarriage. The two of them had been heavily into heroin for most of 1969 but I think they were clean at that time afterwards. There also may have been some sympathy from the band for her that wasn’t there prior but i assume we will get more on this in other episodes. I really want you watch episode 2 right now but it’s too early to get in the proper head space. Tonight for sure.1 point

Here is another reason why travel bans are dumb: they discourage the sharing of essential data. Those countries discovered the presence of a potential variant of concern, and shared the data with the rest of the world. Their reward? A travel ban. On top of all the rest of the things that they have to deal with, including vaccine inequity, they now have this stupid travel ban. It isn't much of an incentive for the sharing of data in the future.1 point
