I’m glad they were able to get this worked out so easily without any unnecessary drama.3 points

I do a fair amount of negotiating in my line of work, and we never accomplish anything with in-person sessions. Too many personalities, egos, etcetera. In my experience, the exchange of written proposals is where the real work is done. It is possible that there may be progress on that front, notwithstanding the hardly-existent in-person sessions. But it doesn't sound like it.2 points

I found an article, not the same one I recall reading, that briefly mentions it. Apparently WCF also offered Reggie Brown an opportunity to be a scout or coach for the Lions. "Despite the disappointment, Brown refocused his efforts on other goals outside of football and in the spring of 1999 he earned his degree in agriculture economics from Texas A&M. With the degree, Brown had a variety of options to choose from including three that had been specifically arranged by Lions owner William Clay Ford. Lion forever Ford had told Brown in the weeks following the injury if he wanted to stay connected to the game he was always welcome to become part of the Lions organization as a scout or coach. If Brown wanted to get away from the game, Ford offered him a position in the Ford Motor Company’s dealership training program where he would learn the ins and outs of the auto dealership business with the hopes of one day running his own. Brown returned to Austin the month following his graduation where he opted for a trial run scouting in the Lions organization. It was short lived. “It was a way for me to get back close to the game, but I don’t think that I was psychologically ready to evaluate other players. Even that amount of travel and everything that went into it, I just wasn’t ready,” Brown admitted. A short time later he enrolled in the dealership training program where he completed it in the required two years. Over the course of the next five years he eventually worked his way up to general manager and assistant to the dealer at one Austin dealership. In that same time he married Patterson." https://www.detroitnews.com/story/sports/nfl/lions/2017/12/22/breathing-reggie-brown-relives-injury/108850952/2 points

It’s funny you bring this up. I got the paw print from the cremation service today, and I had the same thought. Thinking of getting his print tattoo’d on my back, since I know my buddy always had mine.2 points

no its not. if russia put missiles in mexico and venezuela and cuba, how would you react? the ukraine is nothing to us. sorry to let you in on the uncomfortable truth. they need to bargain this in a way that prevents a russian invasion and allows russia to save face. that's what needs to be done. america is not fighting russia over the ukraine, just like it didnt fight them over georgia.1 point

You want Putin to put you to bed tonight. That’s just as ridiculous as what you wrote.1 point

My point on interchangeability is to distinguish between everyone else and the pitcher for the team on defense. I see it as two groups. The P is one and every other position is the other. Not having a DH degrades the quality of the product. I don't care how they did it in 1939 or 1962. That's not relevant anymore.1 point

But only if they donated $3 to the charity run by Diane in Accounting, which will later be discovered to be a scratch off lottery ticket fund.1 point

I do. I try to keep it between 35 to 45. A couple of those guitars are over 40 years old and I really limit their exposure to other buildings or even out on my back porch.1 point

Sounds about right to me. I guess I don't understand the complaint on this one. Canada is a sovereign nation and is free to exercise whatever laws it has on the books to disperse unlawful protests. Just as many police departments did during the George Floyd protests. And just as it isnt fair to associate all of those who are supportive of lifting COVID restrictions with the means and methods used at these border protests or every Trump voter with January 6th, not everyone who supported the message of the George Floyd protests advocated violence or looting.1 point

When a dog dies some people ask "How can you put yourself through that again?" Through what, 14 years of absolute friendship, laughs, companionship, comfort, complete joy and a week of mourning? Sign me up. I can't wait to do it again1 point

When Travolta first read the treatment for Vincent Vega - he didn't like it. He didn't want to play a heroin addict and he was a little turned off by the violence but people told him to meet QT, that there was a great buzz about him. So Travolta went to QT's apartment to meet - and it was the exact same apartment Travolta lived in when he got started in showbiz and that's when he knew it was meant to be.1 point

She is the best cat I've ever owned. Loves people, plays fetch and is in charge of ushering us all off to bed at our designated bed times. The black one is the sweetest cat I've ever owned. Total lap cat. She's visually impaired but sees well enough to get around fine.1 point

I don't like the DH, never did right from the start. I don't like the lottery, because baseball picks are of such little value compared to other sports that no one actually tanks to get one. Expanding the playoff teams weakens the regular season even more than it already is. So, all this stuff is just dumb.1 point
