The roster mostly stinks and a lot of the players who don't stink are injured. I would rather blame the owner/management that foolishly decided this was a win now year (but didn't invest the money to actually win) than the manager stuck with the abomination they've inflicted upon him.2 points

Austin and Riley being unavailable is why the “experiment” is happening in the first place! I wouldn’t call it an experiment, anyway. I would call it making do with what little depth we have.2 points

If the Tigers were hitting like they are supposed to be, you wouldn't even notice Willi's hot streak. If everyone was hitting and healthy, he probably wouldn't even be on the Big League roster.2 points

The game was still 2-0 when he ****ed that up. Butterfly effect and all, that is still a thing. You cannot field someone that bad in the outfield, especially in CF, if you expect to win. Just can't2 points

Always remember that the Yankees have never beaten the Tigers in post-season.1 point

I love watching him play defense. Maybe we could have the pitcher DH for him.😂1 point

It was fine to bring up given all the injuries, but my expectations are low. I just think he's a fringe prospect who won't hit much in the majors.1 point

Me: "Al really hit it out of the park with this pitching talent...wow!!" Also me, watching the offense: "BURN HIMMMM!!!"1 point

I understand the need when Hill was out, but I simply would not put play Willi in the OF if I had Hill, Cameron and Harold available, and Hinch does now, so last night was more of an option than a need.1 point

this is the TL;DR. If you want real utility players, draft or develop them. If you push a kid who has played SS all his life into the OF, find out if he can do more than catch a routine pop-up before you play him there in ML games.1 point

Yep, on top of that Baddoo turned into a pumpkin, Reyes got injured and Grossman has been terrible/injured.1 point

There's a tendency to sort of downplay defense in its importance during the course of a game in favor of offense. And it's tempting given how bad they have been offensively, but runs prevented can be valuable, as well as not giving up runs in the outfield. I understand that they are losing that game regardless because of how Gerrit Cole was pitching and how they looked at the plate, but he missed that ball in CF with two outs of a 2-0 game... if he puts that in his back pocket, I feel reasonably confident that game stays more in hand. It just changed the entire trajectory of the game... it changes the momentum, it likely altered how AJ used the pitching staff, etc. All of this is to say that the experiment badly needs to end when Austin Meadows gets back and if / when Riley Greene comes up. Last night may not have been the most winnable, but you risk losing something winnable in the future having him out there1 point

I could see Fox ... ahem ... whitewashing that fact by claiming the people back then didn't use the word with hate. It was a just another word, like "chair" or "tree" or "rope".1 point

I just cannot see Willi holding a roster position for an entire season. Not enough power, not enough on-base, not enough singles, not enough defense anywhere.1 point

Looks on the broadcast like we are a small town mouse being played with by the big city cat1 point

It’s easier to stomach if you don’t look at the faces and instead imagine that one of the guys in the Avs jersey is Mike Keene.1 point

Well, imagine some Yankee male fans listening to Suzyn Waldman on Yankees radio for a few decades now, with her BOSTON accent. 😂 (truth be told, she’s very knowledgeable, but the accent is like fingernails on a blackboard). AND she’s teamed with John Sterling…. Just poke my ear drums out. 😁1 point

That the cities in red states is seen as an indictment on Democrats is quite hilarious. Like those cities aren't in those states and subject to the laws of those states. Why aren't red state governments enacting policies at the state level do deal with issues within their states?1 point

I can’t watch the game. Here in NJ, it’s not on YES, it’s not on a local station (not at all this year, which is really ridiculous), not on Amazon Prime (which I can sometimes catch them)…. And I don’t have, nor do I want to try and access the stupid Apple+. I swear to God, it’s like mlb actually WANTS fans to throw their hands up in the air, and say “I give up… screw baseball”. I’m just about there. Screw mlb & the Yankee organization - I’ll watch the NY Rangers in about an hour, or continue watching Homeland season 7.1 point

I will say a nice thing about Al, the depth of this m.a.s.h unit pitching staff has been really good.1 point

There are few things on this forum that bring me as much joy as when Chuck comments on Jack Morris. I'm not being facetious, I really enjoy it.1 point
