I've been watching the US and the Holocaust, and as I do so, I'm becoming convinced that QAnon is quite literally the new Nazi party. They really believe in the same things: the anti-semitism and cultishness and dedication to white supremacy, yes, but also the Blood Libel, the "Jew control" of international finance and media, the need to cleanse the earth of their subhuman enemy scum—all of it. They are most responsive to rhetoric based on fear of an alien and unknowable other, they blame their eroding situation on racial and ideological scapegoats, and they yearn for a narcissistic demagogues to rescue them. This is exactly what Nazism was in the 1930s, and it is exactly what QAnon is today. This is what makes Trump's embrace of it last week actually dangerous, rather than silly. Trump is giving red hats permission to fully embrace QAnon and its genocidal philosophy, and I will bet that by the time Trump leaves the scene, QAnon will already have rushed in to replace him as the red hats' unifying principle. Once we start seeing people fly QAnon flags at their homes, farms and businesses, that's when we know shit's gonna really start getting real. I'm thinking within two years, tops.2 points

Nobody ever points the finger at Ball Park Franks and how they plumped when they were cooked, but I think 1957 and beyond is suspect. Hell, Gates Brown was caught red handed and mustard yellow shirted in the middle of a game.2 points

I'll be at the Erie game tonight and if necessary tomorrow too. . . I live in Richmond, so this has been a fun week or so. Caught the last three games when Erie was here last week, and Serretti was impressive. Everything he hit was loud and solid. Madden showed great stuff last week but made a few mistakes that were hit out. Hopefully he eliminates those tonight and the bats show up again.1 point

i think that's a testament to how good aaron glenn is. they've schemed a ton of pressure on teams. blitzes are getting home and seem to surprise other teams. i cant see him being here next year because he'll be in line for a head coaching job. other than harris' strip sack on wentz, i dont remember too many plays where lions pass rushers immediately beat a guy off the ball and got to the qb. all 3 of hutch's sacks were either schemed (his third came on a stunt up the middle), or were clean up sacks where he was blocked but just kept coming and coverage held up. which is nice to think about the lions coverage holding up, which is also a testament to glenn, imo. two game caveats apply, of course. but i still see hutch as a "hard worker" who does what he's asked, crushes the pocket, and plays solid positional defense more than a natural bendy pass rusher who beats nfl left tackles with speed regularly. the lions could still use that guy.1 point

Pretty amazing "conversation" between Jewel and the lead guitarist... I always liked her - quite a lot - but I've never seen this before and... it is amazing...!1 point

Allow me to rebut. 🙂⚾️ It’s a NY thing to care about Yankee milestones being surpassed. The Babe’s 60, and Maris’s 61. I don’t hear local fans conversation wanting, or expecting the”world” to give a shit. I’m enjoying being on “Judge watch”… and I’m hoping he ties/breaks the 61 against the Red Sox this weekend. I’ve said before here on this site that this year is Yankees team just isn’t a favorite of mine by any stretch of the imagination. For the most part, they’re just way too streaky, and I am not a Gerrit Cole fan at all. However, when they play well, they play really well which is fun. Even if they were to go to the World Series and win it, it’s not that I wouldn’t be happy, but I still never talk about this year‘s team as being a favorite. Soooooooo…. GO JUDGE. Go YANKEES.1 point

too depressing to think about the comparison of outrage generated by abuse of dogs vs abuse of poor people......1 point

There's the trade most people were expecting that helps this roster make a little more sense. We had too many Centers and not enough Forwards. Moving Kelly for a vet shooter who plays Forward on an expiring deal is a solid move. And you had to dump Saben anyway to get to 15 players.1 point

Obviously 60 in 154 is an interesting marker. Like 50 goals in 50 games. It's not a "record", it is just an interesting event that doesn't happen very often. Those who aren't interested can just pay no attention.1 point

It's an interesting question. It seems like a wise move for Farhan and the Giants to extend him given the circumstances1 point

Javy's K rate is the second lowest of his career, at 25.3%. Team average is 24.3, league average is 21.9. It would be nice if he struck out less, that's true of everyone. But Javy's real productivity issue this year is not that he is K'ing more than his usual amount or even that much more than the rest of the team, it's his HR rate. His K's just look worse than other guys'.1 point

I think the Tigers going forward will be a lot more active on the back end of the 40 man roster and on the edges of the roster.1 point

I won't pop the cork yet that they hold this mafioso to account, but you can only cosplay Fredo for so long before you make a mistake, screw up it all up, and get caught. Once again, black women are saving democracy and the rule of law in America.1 point
