What an incredible take down of Herschel Walker by this Pastor.2 points

I was thinking about SF Rep Jackie Speier, who was an aide to Congressman Leo Ryan and went with him to Guyana to check out the Peoples Temple. When they were leaving a group of men Jim Jones sent after them caught up to them at the airstrip and started shooting. Leo Ryan was killed, Jackie was shot five times and survived by hiding for almost a full day in the jungle, bleeding out, getting chewed up by bugs, not knowing if anyone had gotten word of the attack.....She wound up running for Ryan's seat and won.. I bet she thought she'd never experience anything nearly that crazy again and now she's next to this nonsense at the Capitol and at home with the Paul Pelosi attack. That's a tough lady there.........1 point

This is Brazil right? Simple equation: He went to the Generals and the Generals said "No"1 point

i like dan campbell. i dont think he's getting fired this year. i think he makes good in game decisions about 80% of the time. i think the offense is making the most of their limited personnel. however, the defense is in shambles. i dont think that's campbell's fault, but he's the head coach so the buck stops with him. ultimately he is responsible and if it continues he's going to be out, and should be out. as has been said before, the defense wasnt all that good last year and holmes decided to bring it all back and make no significant upgrades outside the draft. no run stuffing dt, no athletic cornerbacks, no fast linebackers. they brought anzalone back, signed a stiff in mike hughes, and brought in only udfa's up front. and lost probably their best linebacker from last year. if there is a criticism of holmes, its that he brought back a bunch of below average to bad players from last year and only added a bunch of cast off junk players and expected the results to be different.1 point

that's odd because I thought Trunk or Treats originated at churches. Keep them in house and proper... do demon costumes. Harry Potter, maybe.... but be careful That's borderline witchcraft.1 point

nextdoor seems like a great way to find out which of your neighbors are racist1 point

It was debated last week on Nextdoor (my first mistake). Doing a trunk or treat Halloween night. I was amused. We're in a new portion of the community, mostly empty nesters and few kids. I don't expect much. That said I did try to talk my wife into letting me set up a table in the driveway with candy bars for kids and wine pours for accompanying adults. She shot that down fairly quickly1 point

Did Brian Daboll inherit a good team in New York? Did Robert Saleh inherit a good team in New York? Did Arthur Smith inherit a good team in Atlanta? I believe that Campbell did inherit a piss poor, terrible roster. I believe that this was a 2+ year rebuild. But the whole "Campbell inherited the worst roster in the league narrative" becomes less potent when you look around the league and see 3 first or second year coaches having significantly more success than Dan Campbell is having, with rosters that weren't expected to be any better than ours. In the case of Brian Daboll, his GM Joe Schoen is also in the first year of his job alongside Daboll.1 point

Huge win for Lula da Silva and the people of Brazil. Also, an understated aspect of Lula winning is that this is a huge win for the rainforests of Brazil Bolsinaro was the worst environmental President on Earth for what he did to the rainforests in that country.1 point

I read a piece that made the excellent point that one should remember that from an economic standpoint, since twitter is an advertising supported service, the correct way to view it is that the advertisers are the customers, not the content generators and readers - they are actually the product. Thus the service either has to be run to the wishes of the advertisers, or it has to be turned into something else completely. It seems Musk would prefer to move it to a subscriber based system exactly to break that paradigm, but he will destroy twitter's mass market presence if he does that because consumers in general will not pay for much for internet content and the generators certainly will not pay for the right to put their content on a web platform when they can do it for free in too many other ways. If he can't make the economics work as a subscription service, then he can't really change the moderation system much, other than maybe make it MORE restrictive, because his advertisers demand a much higher lever of moderation that he apparently wants to have. He can't maintain his advertising revenue and go to a largely subscription service because the advertisers won't pay as much to reach the smaller audience. It's always dangerous to assume (as Musk has) that a management is failing (Twitter only made money in the occasional year) because they are incompetent, sometimes they've just been trying to sell a product that isn't very profitable.1 point

Yes, he has shown he can be stubborn to stick with the game plan until half time. My guess is that the screens were to make up for some of the running difficulties without being too obvious about throwing medium to deeper balls. I wonder if throwing to Stover across the middle might have been a better choice, but at the same time, these coaches have forgotten more football than I'll ever know and who knows what the coaching staff was seeing. Regardless, they righted the ship in the second half, they got the win, move on to Northwestern.1 point

Cade's putting up those numbers despite not shooting the lights out from three or getting to the line a bunch so those scoring numbers have the potential to be even better.otoh the longer he goes without doing those two things the more worried I get that he won't develop either skill, atleast with any sorta consistency.1 point

Man, our farm system is going to be reeeeevamped. It'll take a few years, but I'm very pleased with the new leadership comming in.1 point

I don’t think the helmet swinger should have made the trip back to East Lansing with the team. They should have been arrested and lodged at the Washtenaw County Jail pending an arraignment on Monday for a charge of felonious assault. The Michigan players shouldn’t have cut the line, and I’m sure the Big Ten will institute policies about that (probably a suspension for a half if you go in before the all clear, or making game officials stand between the teams until the visitors are completely in). Those bringing that the Michigan players though is just whataboutism. The behavior of MSU players was inexcusable.1 point

What a win to get off the losing skid!! Great team win.1 point

Duren is 18 years old, a rookie, and is 6'10. He is probably going to get better and better as a rebounder. Stewart is 21 and 6'8. I don't think there is a lot of room for growth as a rebounder. I like Stewart. I just want him next to another big or off the bench. Asking him to be a 6'8 center next to a bunch of wings is not a good long term strategy. He is not likely to be Draymond Green in his prime and we will likely not ever have the support cast Draymond had back then.1 point

That isn't much money since the cap is projected at $134M next year. 15% of your cap is about right for a 40% 3PT shooter. They still have $40M in space this summer. But I wouldn't cry if year 2 was a team option.1 point

Schwartz took over an 0-16 team, First year 2-14 - rookie QB who wasn't good yet and missed 6 games Second year 6-10 -- Stafford only played 3 games. Drew Stanton started 3 That is a noticeable improvement He had a bigger hole to start than Campbell who had an experienced QB and a good offensive line. Do you think this team is going 6-11 this year? They would need to go 5-5 the rest of the way. Not with that defense, or coaching.1 point

same thing last year too. i think its more that harbaugh knows they arent likely to lose these games unless they turn the ball over. so get points and play defense. osu will be a different story. like last year, they'll need tds. i think they open the playbook for that game.1 point
-
Some of these stem from Harbaugh’s conservative nature to kick on 4th down. He’s got a great kicker and defense so that’s the right move but many other coaches are going for it and scoring TD’s and making the numbers look better. Of course some other coaches are going for it and running slow developing counter plays on 4th and 1 and crushing their teams hopes instead of kicking an easy FG.1 point

After all the talk on the old board and this about how absent the Tigers always were on the international front, remember how excited everyone on the board was when the Avila regime finally started throwing millions of Ilitch dollars at Dominican 16-year-olds in the past few years? Ehhhhhh I’m not so sure I’m excited about that anymore …1 point

Not sure if it's been mentioned or not but Tigers just hired Mark Conner to be the new Scouting Director, he has been with the Padres since 2010. Perhaps @Edman85or @microline133have some information about him?1 point

When my daughter was about eleven or so, she came up with the idea to be a tub of spackling compound for a costume. I was very pleased to assist in making it happen. She is a bit non-traditional.0 points
