  2. Zadina drops to 16th. And McIsaac all the way to 78th. Veleno surprisingly jumps up to 24th. Berggren basically steady at 35.

  8. You're talking 81 games (not counting playoffs) at the ballpark, seven months. It's actually not a bad area. Closer to family. With the amount of money he's getting really doesn't make that much difference, especially if you can get away in the Winter.

  9. I think you both (Sloth and Gehringer) are probably right about Berggren. He could well turn into solid NHLer. I was just hoping for one of the four picks to really break out from their draft position and well exceed expectations. I think Zadina is a below-average #5-#7 pick, not even considering that on draft day we felt we had stolen a #3 or so. Berggren seems fine for a #33 overall, but nothing that special. I don't think a re-draft of Veleno would put him any higher than his #30, probably lower. And who knows about McIsaac, snakebit. I don't have an Atlantic subscription so not sure what they came up with.

  10. I admit the song has become a bit of a cliche thanks to the Red Sox and Fenway Park, but Neil Diamond leading a chorus of Sweet Caroline does bring a smile. The man was a consummate performer in his prime...and still does a good job.

  13. I'm OK with signing another vet starter... although I don't feel any particular leaning towards what level that starter is (not related to anything you've posted, just adding an extra 2 cents...). I think the next vet starter would be primarily for, as you've stated it, insurance. And to me that really could be anything so I won't sweat whoever that guy might turn out to be as much as... just glad if we add one more "guy" just to have in the mix...

  15. I'm looking at one game at a time still. I thought they would go 9-8 and make the playoffs as a #7 seed. If they go 8-9 or 9-8 and miss the playoffs, I won't be upset.

  20. They are going to claim a player we've never heard of off waivers, put him back on waivers next week and then eventually assign him to the minors. And then Edman can explain to us what really happened after the beat writers get it all wrong!

  21. A year ago today was Dan Campbell's first win, the buzzer beater against Minnesota. If you knew the morning of that game that the Lions would go 8-10 over the next 365, you'd probably be pretty okay with that.

  26. Here's an article that goes into more detail. https://signorile.substack.com/p/the-disco-sucks-movement-and-the To say "none of this" is a stretch as obviously at the time that was the feeling. It's not rewriting history. From a rolling stone piece in 1979 From the article above. I mean... why not just let people enjoy what they enjoy? The critique I see here is a musical one which is fine to have if it's not your cup of tea but it's not hurting anybody if an ostracized community finds comfort and pleasure from "house" music that may not live up to your standards of what music should be. this sounds to me like people in the 90's complaining that Rap and Hip Hop was not real music. That sentiment was very real and it isn't until the last 10-15 years that suddenly everybody seems to have been a fan when I can tell you as a young adult at the time they certainly were not. We'd never have nevisioned Ice T doing reverse mortage commercials or Snoop Dogg doing stuff with martha stewart. People wanted them in jail.
