i am very surprised he's staying. i thought for sure he was gone this time. word is that the contract will make assurances that michigan will become nil competitive, and harbaugh will be paid like the top football coach he is. i mean, maybe not mel tucker money, but who can match mel for his success at msu? that guy is in demand... but i digress. this is great news for michigan on the nil front and the immediate success of the program front. they should be a top 5 program next year and - dare i say it - favorites to three peat. if the nfl really passed up on harbaugh again, its baffling to me. otoh, if his agent did a nice job of setting up "interviews" and releasing tid bits of information on "interest" as well as "the AD sucks" tweets, then he did a masterful job.2 points

I don’t think the Lions trading up and drafting Anthony Richardson at 15 or so would be the same as the Packers trading up and drafting Jordan Love at 26. Richardson has the highest ceiling of all the QB prospects in this draft (IMO). His athleticism and arm strength is off the charts and I could understand why a team with good scouts and good coaching like the Lions would be intrigued. In the perfect situation, he could easily become the QB1 of the draft, and an absolute steal to a team that picks him as the 4th QB off the board. He could also bust and be out of the league in two years if he’s put into the wrong situation. The latter is probably much more likely, as I think a team in the top ten reaches a bit for him and tries to make him start out of the gate. He desperately needs to sit for a season if he’s going to have success at the NFL level. Jordan Love never had close to the upside that Richardson has. Additionally, Jared Goff is not Aaron Rodgers. Goff has proven his worth, and I like him a lot, but he’s not a Hall of Fame prima donna QB who just signed a long-term extension. If you see the next 21/22yo top-five QB sliding down the draft board, I don’t have an issue drafting over Goff. But damn, you better freaking be right. All said, I don’t think it’s going to happen. For either the Lions to make the move, or Richardson to slide. I think the Lions are very happy with Goff, and that he will sign something of a restructured extension this off-season that ensures he’s here at least through 2024.1 point

Yeah... I'm going to do the opposite. Holmes has earned my trust. He's able to spot talent, full stop. I'm just going to trust whatever draft decisions he makes because... what do I know? If he drafts Richardson in the 1st round... I'm just going to trust him that he thinks in a couple years AR can be a dynamic QB and push Goff. I have my preferences, and it's to not draft a QB or RB in the 1st round. I will offer my opinions, my mocks, guys I like the most and why... But in the end... in Brad Holmes I trust.1 point

I don't think the Lions should draft a QB at all. After Holmes found players like Rodriguez and Houston in the 6th round, I would rather he not draft a QB who is most likely not to play at all. The Lions have a top 10 QB who is 28 and signed to a very reasonable contract. I haven't seen a fanbase want to move on from a young top 10 QB since Matthew Stafford.1 point

I will jump off the Brad Holmes bandwagon if he drafts a backup QB in the 1st round. This whole backup thing is overblown. Goff didn't miss a snap this season. He's missed a total of 5 games the past 6 seasons and only 3 were due to injury. One was because the Rams had everything locked up and another was due to COVID. Just sign a veteran.1 point

Probably wouldn't happen and he may not want it, but Greg Gania (from the Erie broadcasts) is really really good at what he does and would do well on the TV Broadcasts imo. Even when he does spot-work for DD, he sounds better informed on the team and org than the typical crew Bally would run back.1 point

The McDonald's double drive through strikes again! When I'm in a rush, I'll order stuff on the McD app. The other morning I pull in and there is a semi making a delivery. It is partially blocking one lane but I can squeeze in. I pull up to the speaker expecting to tell them my mobile order number. After a long delay, a voice comes over and says "the lane is closed because the truck is in the way". I said, "oh, well, I'm already here and I have a mobile order" (or something to that effect - not rude or offputting). "The lane is closed because the truck is in the way" the voices repeats because I obviously didn't catch that the first time. "So you can't take my order?" "The lane is closed because the truck is in the way". I drove off and canceled my order. Then I thought of @pfife.1 point

What I really would want in a broadcast team is two people talking baseball. I don't want over the top analysis or jock speak. Give me someone who can give me insight in a normal way. Treat the broadcast as if you're talking to another adult. And no over the top gushing. That may be the thing that I enjoyed the few times I've listened to Dickerson and Avila last season, it was two guys just talking baseball between the PBP. You don't need all the ball and strike stuff on TV. Give me the facts and a little insight.1 point

Honestly, I don't think having Craig Monroe in place of Jack Morris is any kind of upgrade. He may be a nicer guy than Morris and also tick certain boxes, but his style is super off-putting to me. It's not just the homerism which, yes, is bad. But even worse to me is his whole I'm-still-in-the-game schtick: referring to The Guys by their cutesy-poo clubhouse nicknames; acting as a cheerleader and an apologist for The Guys; leaning hard on jock-talk crutches; and, of course, his general lack of actual insight for which he's apparently relying on his memory of what it was like when he was a player on the inside, rather than studying up on the game as an informed outsider. In other words, he comes off like a YouTube or TikTok amateur, not as a broadcast professional. Consequently, that might be just the kind of thing that appeals to Millennials and Zoomers. Can't wait until he talks about The Guys' social media feeds and red carpet walks.1 point
