  1. Well. I would say my view is that any number of professed Christians and Christian Church organizations have earned all the ridicule that they get. To me that is quite a different question than whether Christianity is ridiculous. Always good grounding to remember that no-one came under more criticism by Jesus himself than the 'religious' of his day.

  3. Today, My local Italian deli had their grilled vegetables* & fresh mozzarella (w/ balsamic glaze & EVOO & herbs) on crusty rolls available. It’s often a hit or miss if they’re making them on any particular day. (*grilled vegetables- eggplant, zucchini, portobello mushrooms, sun dried tomatoes, roasted red peppers) Had half for lunch, I’ll have the other half for dinner when I get home for work tonight. This made me crazy happy. (Is that embarrassing? Maybe a little) 😂

  5. Two of my favorite singers and songwriters out there today in music, Brandy Carlisle and Brandy Clark, coming together to create a beautiful song. This song appears to be on Brandy Clark's upcoming, self-titled album. Really looking forward to listening to Clark's new album too.

  6. As the days go by I'm leaning more and more towards defensive candidates at the #5 pick. Especially after watching these playoffs and seeing that only once has a team in the bottom 10 on defense gotten past the first round of the playoffs in the past several years. Pistons were #29 in defense last year. I heard a trade proposal the other day that involved sending Bogie out to Dallas for the #10 pick and I'd be all over that. Our defensive ceiling is capped with Cade and Ivey as our backcourt of the future. I think you simply have to hope that those guys pop as your offensive core and surround them with 3 and D dogs at the Forward positions. Bogie either has to become a bench scorer or get moved while he has value. Guys like Grady are falling on my board. That's the type of player that would fit great on a team with Lebron or Giannis, but not on a team that already has a defensive ceiling cap unless you're drafting him to just be a bench scorer. I've also decided to move Hendricks above Whitmore on my draft board (and Del rejoices!). I still love the explosive potential of Cam Whitmore, but his defensive ceiling isn't on the same level as Hendricks who can be that perfect player next to Duren in the starting lineup while also being one of the best shooters in the top 10.

  7. The USS Gerald R. Ford is on its first deployment. It arrived in Oslo and will take part in drills/exercises before heading to the Arctic. This is the first ship in the Gerald R. Ford class of carriers and will be replacing the Nimitz class carriers. Someone posted some pics of it sailing into Oslofjord.

  10. Taliban? Trump invited them to camp David on 911, negotiated to free 5000 of the in Afghanistan, and negotiated an agreement to leave them in power. Trumpers sure are some historical revisionists.

  11. I’m not shocked that Jamie Benn pulled this move. He’s done a bunch of similar old time hockey plays like this throughout his career: What really shocks me is that this guy scored 33 goals this year! Wow, never would’ve thought that possible at this stage of his career. That’s way more shocking than him getting loose with the stick again.

  12. No. I have a local deli that's been around for at least 35 years and every Tuesday I get a chicken caeser wrap. I'm sure it's nothing special but he loads it up. The oil from the dressing starts to drip through the wrap onto my hand as i hold it. I look forward to it every week. Became a pandemic thing. I start to get sad when I'm almost finished with it. My wife gets mad that I won't wait until Thursday when she's home but it's gotta be Tuesday. You go back to work on Monday, things might be a little busier but come Tuesday morning things settle down and I know at 11:20 it's time to order. I can do it online and it's ready when I get there. It's literally my favorite thing to eat and has been for 3 years. Nothing I will eat the rest of the week will top it.

  15. Hendricks strikes me as a touch mechanical...very nice shot, but seems slow. I do like his defensive potential though. I really like Whitmore because he looks comfortable playing off the ball, can shoot the pull up three and can attack the rim, where he finished something like 65% of his attempts there. Defense maybe isn't a strong suit, but the athleticism is there to improve a bit. There's been criticism of his arm length...he isn't Wemby in that regard...but he's not Emoni Bates either. On an unrelated note...finally got around to watching "Air" on Amazon Prime...not a fan of Jordan, but it was fascinating look at one of the great street hustlers, Sonny Vaccaro, and his pursuit of MJ. Highly recommend it

  17. I have mixed feelings about this. One one hand, I can approve of a 'no negotiation with hostage takers' stance by Biden if it comes down to it. But on the other hand, Biden also may have a "Nixon goes to China" moment here if he is clever and skilled enough to use it. There have to be many things that have become somewhate sacred cows of spending that even a liberal old hand like Biden must know can and should go. Here is a chance for him to get a little useful reform if he can control the process. Give away things he doesn't want anyway, let the GOP get their fig leaf, and all the while the Dems can still blame it all on the GOP to the complaining constituencies (which there always are). That's IF Biden is that smart/clever. I don't know if he is. but I would guess he does have some kind of 2nd level strategy for his decision to engage after initially saying he woudn't. Say what you will about the man, if there is anything we should know about him by know, he thinks tactics/strategy in longer terms than your average DC pol.

  18. I don't think your views on these issues as stated in your post are radical. I also don't think it's ridiculous to be Christian. Most people I know identify as Christian. I might mock someone who pushes his or her so called Christians values if I don't think that person actually has Christian values.

  19. I don't think there will be a default either as it wouldn't likely be all that good for either side, tbh. But man, it is really frustrating to have to live through this stupidity every few years over an arcane rule that shouldn't even exist. Especially when peoples lives or livelihoods are on the line.

  24. It's also telling that the GOP never "got rid of it" when they could even though they said they would... Also, you described yourself as hard right. I wouldn't have guessed that. I detected right leanings but not something I'd call "hard right". I appreciate the discourse and if that's indeed true it's good to have that perspective intelligently represented here. Given what I know about you from here I get the sense you represent a significant portion of our electorate in terms of who wins and loses.

  25. I always thought the way the LGBTQ thing played out, especially gay marriage, was arranged. The legend is Biden says it publicly and backs Obama in a corner. I view that as a good cop/bad cop situation. Sort of like forcing someone else, with little risk since he's VP, to make the decision for him.

  27. Never understood why helping more people have access to health insurance would hurt anyone. It was the oh lazy people get insurance now. Well now lazy people have to pay in some way now. Before the hospitals got burdened with the debt which got handed off to the people paying insurance premiums.

  30. He also spearheaded the rescue of the economy after the Bush crash, passed Dodd-Frank, stopped Iran from nuclearizing, normalized relations with Cuba, improved America's image abroad dramatically, and, oh yeah, 86'ed bin Laden with extreme prejudice. And he did all of it without even a whiff of any scandal. Obama was no joke.
