Are all our teams in the minors done now? Time to close this thread? If so, Kudo’s and other chocolatety-covered granola treats to LongLiveMaroth for his daily commitment in providing summaries for all of our minor league games this past season. Sir, you are a scholar and a gentleman!16 points

Appreciate it! It is honestly something I really enjoy doing and am definitely going to miss the every morning check of how the boys did. I mean we could close it and then create a 2024 version once ST hits as I am guessing most info around other things would be posted in the off-season thread.6 points

Agreed. Even if 'not' last post here - Thank You 🙏 and kudos to LongLiveMaroth (and others) for the consistent data posted here to help the forum stay in tune with the Tigs minor league affiliates and their doings! 😀6 points

Erie wins the Eastern League Championship by beating Binghamton tonight 10-0. Brant Hurter won two games in post season going six and seven innings. He didn’t give up a run post season.4 points

The push back you'll get from the gun nuts is that "well regulated" didn't have the same meaning in the 1700's as it does today. To regulate something meant to have processes in place for calling up, training and deploying the militia. The whole thing is absolute BS. The 2nd Amendment was written for a very specific purpose, to ensure there would be civilians with guns that could be relied upon to assist the newly formed US Army in fighting off a threat to the country. Heller, a 5-4 decision from a conservative majority, is the most blatantly wrong decision in the history of the Supreme Court. And before some gun nut goes off on me, I'm a gun owner and have my CPL. I'm not saying that people don't have a right to own certain firearms, I'm just saying it's absurd to claim you have that right because of an outdated relic from our past.3 points

90 rbi for Tork. Extra credit for having done it on a team where nobody can get on base.3 points

Hinch doesn't manage well at the beginning of months... I agree that kind of selective exclusion of games doesn't mean anything. However, I think in comparing this team to 2021 when they had a similar season in terms of wins and losses, this year was more encouraging. There was a lot of luck in 2021. This year, I believe it was real progress.2 points

"[jalen]Carter has been a force within the Eagles defensive line. He’s picked up 1.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and five total tackles (two of them for a loss) during his first three games. Carter ranks seventh in pressure percentage among 195 qualified pass rushers (minimum 36 pass rush snaps) with a 20.5 percent rate. That’s All-Pro level type pressure." we're going to regret passing on aaron donald 2.0.2 points

Like Denny and the Mick. And the best part of that sequence will always be Pepitone, coming up next, showing McLain where he wanted it, and McLain throwing it right at his head.2 points

I'm not sure how much influence he has over this but a new broadcasting duo would be great.2 points

I’m going with my son. I saw Miggy’s 3,000th hit, his last HR (so far) and looking forward to his last game.2 points

He's so good defensively, I'd be happy with a .700 OPS.2 points

If it comes down to Meadows or Baddoo in the spring of 2024...I think you have to keep Meadows1 point

The pro 2nd Amendment folks keep missing the part about a WELL REGULATED militia. I would assume that would also regulate the types of firearms. You buy a military style weapon, you sign up for monthly weekend drills and spend part of your vacation at camp.1 point

You were right. Willie would randomly stop signing and his son would take over. That said, it was a lot of fun to smoke a couple of joints and see Willie Nelson live. He's 90 years old, so I can forgive him for not being as spry as he once was.1 point

I'm a Baddoo fan but I think we're seeing the problem he is going to face and it's Meadows, who can do everything Baddoo can but better. Add Greene and Carpenter and there is less room on the roster for more left handed outfielders.1 point

Is there any chance Holton is converted to a starter? If he is a career reliever, he may have just had his best season. They don't have to deal him, but they should shop him and she what offers they get. Statcast numbers are much less predictive for pitchers than hitters. His stuff metrics (a little more predictive than statcast metrics) are less impressive.1 point

Bump Is signing Holton the best move Harris made? The kid has some of the best RP stats in MLB.1 point

Maybe the KC pitcher will groove him a fastball and have the catcher let him know it's coming?1 point

Baddoo still has the tantalizing power and speed.1 point

Goff was **** in Detroit when he was brand new here, learning a new system and new roster, most of which was garbage after the FO had torn the team down nearly to the studs, and many of the good players who remained got injured. His best offensive weapon was a rookie. Starting with the Thanksgiving Day game, Goff's last five starts were pretty good: 1,136 yards, 11 TDs and 2 INTs for a Passer Rating of 108.3. He was good all of 2022, and has been good thus far in 2023. I'm not sure why so many people are convinced that Goff is more likely the QB of his first 9 games with a new team, scheme and roster rather than the QB of the 25 games since. Do we honestly believe that Dan Campbell will hire an OC with an appreciably different philosophy from that of Ben Johnson when the time comes to replace him? Because I don't think he will.1 point

The whole DeAndre Levy injury was handled in clown shoes. Team would never disclose injury and he stayed on active roster for like 6 weeks and never practiced. Those were bad times.1 point

According to one study. Not doubting it, but beware the publication bias endemic to studies that may stray from the common knowledge.1 point

Even better. He's going to do the 9 positions in 9 innings thing and bat left handed in one of his plate appearances.1 point

In 2006 I sold my game 2 tickets to help defray the cost. In 2012 I sold game 3 for the same reason. So obviously hard to compare because in 2006 nothing bad had happened yet so we were all jacked up. When I went in ‘12 they were down 0-3. before the game we stopped at a local bar. Had drinks with Giants fans who as soon as their team won game 3 they saw the ticket prices plummet so they bought them and were able to get cheap flights. Nice people. Sitting next to us at the game was an older lady by herself, a Giants fan, who had a well worn book she used to keep score. I think she was afraid to cheer but when it got to two outs in the 9th I encouraged her to cheer. It was ok. We won’t bite. Definitely a different vibe in that game. The odds of coming back are not zero but close. If they won it would cost me $190 more plus parking and all that. Root for them or just get it over with another reason I hate digital only tickets. I have mementos from 2006, 2009, 2011-14. It became a yearly ritual to go to FedEx to pick up our playoff tickets. There were actually lines to do it.1 point

My healthy, athletic daughter got covid during the initial waves (March 2020). Long covid has majorly degraded her health. Her experience with doctors (which hopefully is/has changed) was to dismiss the symptoms she had being covid related. I hope at some point there will be more studies, and effective treatments and she can regain much of what she lost.0 points
