On the topic of Ichiro, last fall I read Poskanski’s Top 100 players book, which was fantastic. I took a screenshot of this passage on Ichiro.

I don't know that that's the case. I can't see any Lions' season ticket holder doing that, but the Lions' haven't been good in decades. You need to go back 30+ years for the last time the Lions were in the NFC Champ Game. This is history for the Lions. For the 49ers you need to go back all the way to... January of 2023. Before that you need to go back to... January of 2022. Before that? January of 2020 when they won the NFC Championship. This isn't a "once in a generation" event for 49ers fans so if you can resell tickets and make hundreds, maybe thousands? I won't be surprised to see season ticket holders do it.

Growing up my dad, who was retired, after going to bed, would get up at midnight and walk out in the front room in his underwear and T Shirt and flashlight and watch the Three Stooges on channel 50. every night my youngest son, special needs boy that he is, watches the three stooges that he records on the DVR as he falls asleep and laughs hysterically. I like to think there’s a connection going on somewhere between him and someone who died almost 14 years ago.

I've come around on drafting QBs in the middle round when you have a starter already in place. The backup QB spot is probably set for the next 3 years with a young-ish QB you can mold in your system.

I never thought I would see the day that this is a logical statement.

I do that for baseball but not football. Pro or college. I'm usually at the edge of my seat. Heck, I can't even eat before a regular season game. These playoffs are killing me. It would be a long, long 2 weeks before the final game. A very long two weeks.

Ichiro is a HOF but I feel his actual impact on the field is a bit overrated. Yes he had 3K hits but 2500 of them were singles including nearly 600 infield hits which aren't nearly as valuable since they can only advance a runner 1 base. Also he had a subpar walk rate and yeah he could steal bases but a few of those high stealing years he got caught stealing at an above average rate which totally negates it. Like I said though still a great player and a HOF but if you are just factoring in his MLB career I don't think he should be classed as this slam dunk no brainer choice like I think he is perceived as. Ive seen lesser players struggle to get in and take several years to do so.

Yeah ever since I got Youtube TV mines the same way, it's not so much a problem now since we're the only game in town and I don't have to do this but earlier in the season there were many times where I'd be going to ESPN or NFL.com to check other scores in between plays and see a spoiler for the Lions game.

I started using the GoodReads app to track my reading. I fall into a habit of reading books twice. I'm a non fiction guy and I focus on specific topics, mostly space related or entertainment history. My wife and friend make fun of me because they get into the self help type books and I just can't do it. I read for enjoyment, I like myself and dont need help, and I don't want to be preached at or lectured while chilling out. Currently I am reading Geddy Lee's book and re-reading Easy Riders, Raging Bulls by Peter Buskind. It's about the rise of the directors in the late 60s and 70's, Coppola, Hopper, Bogdonavich, Scorsese, etc and how they changed Hollywood from the old studio system.
