Trump generally has the ability to just flip on whatever he wants and the MAGA crowd just goes with it. I really think he messed up politically here on immigration. 1) This immigration bill isn't even that great, it's not like it was a compromise, senate republicans got almost everything they asked for. 2) High profile house republicans are pissed. Immigration was in their minds a big factor for their re-election bids, either as an achievement or as a issue that they can claim they'd deal with. Now at best for them, hopefully it's an issue that folks ignore, the same folks they've been riling up to care about it so much. 3) Biden appears to be looking to take advantage of it and not just let it sit as an unforced error. Regardless if the House GOP ignores it or buckles and passes it, Biden (if ignored) could actually have it as part of his platform, taking it away from republicans to campaign on, or Biden (if passed) touts it as bi-partisan work that he got to the finish line. I'm not sure which one would help him more with voters, but I feel like Trump (once again) put the GOP in a no win situation. I don't think he's realized yet he put himself in that position too.

It's another case of MLB trying to be brainy and clever. Why have any requirements. If your player wins ROY your team gets a pick . Period.

I saw that and personally from the Royals perspective I wasn't that big of fan of it due to all the opt outs. They basically gave him opts out on every one of his would be FA deals so KC is taking on all the risk now without being able to reap any possible rewards if in 5 years Witt is viewed as a top 5 player and viewed as a guy that could get 400 million on the open market. Without the opt outs they would be reaping some rewards by getting him at "only" some 35 million a year but with them he will just opt out or re work the contract where he is paid his worth if he ends up being a top tier superstar. OTOH if he completely flames out and never hits his full potential then KC is on the hook for nearly 300 million dolllars.

I can’t believe it. I tested positive for Covid this morning. I have been able to avoid it for 4 years… but here it is. Bummer. Killer headache, high fever (& I never run a fever.. unusual for me), head congestion. right now, not taking any medication, really, just something for the fever. But my doctor asked me to call them tomorrow morning, and if I feel worse than I feel today, she’ll prescribe something. I’d just prefer not having to take an antiviral, …I’d kinda like to see this through on my own. But, i’ll see how I feel tomorrow morning. I am just surprised… I felt like I’d just never get it. 😕

I delivered a pizza to Vina at the Hyatt when he was with the Brewers. They wouldn’t let us up to the rooms so we had to call them to come down. He was with Bob Wickman. He was very short but stocky. Looked like a college wrestler. Wickman looked like a gas station attendant who sometimes would be allowed to work on the cars.
