  1. The Mayer/Jobe debate hasn't even begun. They are both prospects who haven't reached AAA yet. The Tigers could win that debate by a lot or they could lose it by a lot. Like the Wyatt/Clark debate, we won't know the answer for years.

  2. My only request is to maybe wait a few years to come to that conclusion, and to also factor in the rest of the draft made possible by going under slot at #3 overall. Also, it is possible Langford raised his price for the Tigers.

  3. I enjoy "Finding Your Roots" on PBS. It is interesting when they try to track an AA history as it always seems to end with a Census of a slave owners posessions. They usually look at slaves age of brother sisters to try to find the relatives, super sad. Though there were a few instances were they found former slaves that voted after being freed. Of course this right was rescinded by white supremacist Democrates after the union army left. What was really cool is even after that they showed up in the next election cycle as a re-registred voter. I can only imagine the intimidation and threats they went through to vote.

  4. The media keeps saying Biden is in trouble because of uncommitted votes. What about a former President only getting 68% of his own party's vote? That is pretty weak. Dump got 94% in 2020. I am very concerned that Dump will win the general election, but his primary performance has been poor.

  5. All this talk about my hometown means I have to extend an invite now to anyone to come have a drink or sandwich with me. My treat. My brewery doesn’t serve food but we can visit my friend Sam who will give us more food than we can eat.

  6. With Washington losing tonight that means we are now tied with them for the worst record in the league. Queue up the Jeffersons theme song.

  9. There's a YouTube video that replays the final four minutes only. It was eerie how quiet Ford Field was (or sounded on the broadcast) as the Lions took possession. Tension, and allowing the offense to hear Goff. And at the 2 minute warning the game was still on a knife's edge. And then, pow, that one quick pass for a 1st down coming out of the 2 minute warning and just like that it was over. I had been psyching myself up for several more minutes of nervousness.

  10. Schedule: March 30 Saturday vs the St. Louis Battlehawks at 4 p.m. April 7 Sunday vs the Birmingham Stallions at noon April 14 Sunday vs the Houston Roughnecks at noon April 20 Saturday at the San Antonio Brahmas at 7 p.m. April 28 Sunday at the Memphis Showboats at 3 p.m. May 5 Sunday vs the Arlington Renegades at 1 p.m. May 12 Sunday at the D.C. Defenders at noon May 18 Saturday vs the Memphis Showboats at 4 p.m. May 26 Sunday at the Houston Roughnecks at 2:30 p.m. June 1 Saturday at the Birmingham Stallions at noon It's too bad the UFL didn't schedule a game in Detroit on April 28th, Draft Weekend. I think some of the NFL fans in the city for the event might have be lured into attending a UFL game after the draft. But I don't know if Ford Field is being used extensively for any draft festivities and if so maybe they didn't think they'd have time to prepare it for a game on Sunday. I supposed it's also possible that the NFL didn't want any UFL stuff going on in Detroit even the day after their big draft event.

  12. Actually, quite the opposite. Most successful teams stagger the substitutions so one of their top 3 players are in the game at all times. I have no idea what drives this mindset from Monty (or from Casey, who used to do it as well). I can only imagine it's because it's easier to manage. I guess you can't pay a guy 78M and expect him to be able to figure out something that every coach from high school on is smart enough to handle.

  13. A lot of this assumes that Mayer would have signed with the Tigers at the price he signed with Boston, or that Langford would have signed with the Tigers at the Rangers' price. And in the case if Langford, that the rest of the draft would have fit in place with less pool money to work with. In the case of Mayer, given the Tigers' player dev reputation pre-Garko, it is entirely possible he wanted nothing to do with us and floated a huge number to scare us off him. Not only is it possible, it is likely. There is a reason Harris is really trumpeting player development successes. A strong player dev reputation helps you in putting a draft together in the draft pool era, when you may not have to pay a premium to get players.

  16. so the pistons dont play muscala after he made a decently successful debut. obviously better than wiseman. and then buy him out so he's free to join a contender. tell me again who his agent is?

  17. The genocide is actually the policy towards Israel, and it was laid out in this thread. The Arabs don't want them there so their goal is to remove them and wipe them out, by any means necessary. Israel's goal isn't to exterminate Gazans. Hamas's goal, and that of many of the Arabs in that region, is to exterminate Jews. They don't consider them legitimate people.

  18. There’s got to be some reasonable middle ground between asking Hamas nicely, which won’t work the way a perfect world would like, and genociding Gazans out of existence, which won’t work the way Israel hopes it will.

  21. I'm old enough to remember when Sharon Angle and the rest of the Tea Party used to descend on Dearborn to hold rallies where they would burn the Quran and accuse them of being terrorists and practicing Sharia law. I remember them claiming Dearborn was an ISIS training center and a no go zone. I remember Jesse Watters doing a piece about how they stoned a woman to death for buying condoms. Now they are all running to the Republican party so they can hate gays together and make sure women don't get abortions.

  23. Yeah, I don't know what else Israel could have done in response to a single terrorist attack other than bomb Gaza into rubble and kill some 30,000 people and displace a million others so far, mostly civilians, along the way. Sure, the offensive will create more Muslim radicals, but hey, that's not our problem since we didn't start the war and have no involvement in it, and besides, that just means Israel gets to kill the new ones, too.

  26. unclear to me why draft pick mistakes are exempt from criticism. if they hit on Jung, great, good for them. but right now the Tigers would be absolutely do a Jung for Neto swap. even if Jung turns out to be a better player, Neto is a much better short term and long term fit

  27. I wonder how much of this is lifestage versus generation, i.e., kids across the eras coming into the workforce and doing the bare minimum, then straightening up as get older and they mature. I seem to remember most of my fellow young boomers being ****-arounds when we were all working at Dinos Pizzas and Burger Chefs and Perry Drugs and Chatham supermarkets, and back then, so was I.

  28. S'all Good man.... There was a place near me that had a large space with a stage and we loved going there for the music. They sponsored our softball team for 2 seasons. I miss it. If the place has a stage or permanent space for a band then I get it... you have to know going in that is a possibility.

  30. From having friends run for council I learned that showings in primaries can be misleading in terms of passion. That 5,000 number could be a maximum. For example in a crowded primary for 7 council seats with 17 candidates on the ballot you would see a crowded and mixed field with everyone around 1 to 2 thousand votes. But you can’t assume the top vote getters carry over. Someone like me runs then all my friends and family vote for me. That’s all I got. I tap out. Come the general then the incumbents pick up the non primary voters who know their names. A fifth place finisher in the primary can be the top finisher in the election. The passion behind that uncommitted vote drew them to the polls. Those who care about Gaza voted. That’s their top line number now.

  37. How about demanding Hamas surrender and release the hostages. You know, the aggressor. The one who started this. Hamas is the one who has no regard for their civilians. I mean, you're basically saying that terrorists can pillage a country and take hostages and hide them amongst citizens and Israel should just say that's ok keep them as concubines.

  42. The ironic part. Any type of customer survey you read will list noise as the #1 complaint. Not bad food, not poor service, noise. Two big reasons for noise going up the past 10-15 years are open kitchens and the industrial look. Everyone always asks us why we don't go those routes with our places. Well, they are insanely loud. They dining areas are generally big squares so nothing separates the noise. Kitchens are extremely loud and an open kitchen dumps that noise into the dining area. The industrial look is usually brick with exposed HVAC ducts which all reflect noise. There is a seafood place in Davison named Whiteys that I have gone to my entire life. Big place, probably seats 250 maybe 275 people. Very popular and always full and you can hear a pin drop in that place. Their kitchen is dead nuts center of the restaurant and closed. That basically separates the dining area into four different areas to help control noise. One of the areas has huge windows and glass is bad for sound, so that is a bit louder than the other three areas. But all soft finishes on the walls otherwise and mostly carpeted floors, so chairs scraping on hard tile. The central kitchen also makes things feel very cozy. They do 1,000+ covers a night and the entire time you are seated its like eating with only 60 other people. Very well designed place.

  43. In general I’m going to believe the woman because historically they have gotten the short end of these situations both in terms of lack of Justice and overall shaming and questioning. So if that means a douchebag like Bauer is unfairly accused… so be it. I’m fine with him being allegedly falsely accused if it means other women are rightfully believed and feel courage coming forward when it happens to them. I’m sure there’s millions of women out there saying “yeah it sucks when you are unfairly judged on something. welcome to the club. My rapist got off because I had a black bra on.”
