they did a ST game. I made note of the fact that the Tigers booth had both a guy with CP and a guy with Parkinson's. A testemant to what's possible.6 points

Yesterday I predicted Manning would toss seven innings of no hit ball and 93 pitches so I came close.4 points

Well, I’m starting to wonder if 162-0 is overly optimistic.3 points

That’s a great story. My brother-in-law, who became an engineer instead of a class D, Pirates minor-league pitcher was great to watch a game with partly because of his engineer mentality I think. He had a razor sharp interest in the game that was infectious and dragged you into it in an incredibly satisfying manner. I went to six games in the 1980s in Nashua New Hampshire which was the Pirates AA team and I had more fun with him at a game than anyone in my life. He saw Ted Kluszewski in the stands and told me about him and the Pieates won every single game coming from behind as either a walk off or with runs scored in the eighth inning. It was like this little miracle staged for the two of us.2 points

And now a "magic loogie" reference from Benetti that Monroe pretended he understood. God, I love having the new guy aboard.2 points

Honestly, it's a lot of what you are saying. Where we disagree is that, IMO, the administration probably understands and internalizes these same things but has the added weight of having to worry about how these actions would influence broader stability in the ME. For instance, do these actions creater further tension or embolden Iran, for instance? It's easy for Jon Favreau and the PodBros to lob grenades on this stuff because it isn't their responsibility to have to worry about the consequences.... it's a lot harder when you are the Principal and have to piece it together.2 points

What I like about living in the west is that you feel like you’re driving in a convertible all the time. When I lived in the Midwest, the horizon was a hazy tree line nearby, and the clouds seem to be much lower in the sky for some reason. Out here the sky is so expansive it affects me internally. It’s like living in the Sound of Music.2 points

I don’t like the rain that much. When I was going to Purdue in 1970 our college newspaper, the Exponent, ran an article that Auburn had the lowest precipitation in the entire state, and my feeling was that it rained all the time in Auburn. What I like about where I live in Boise Idaho is that the neighborhoods here remind me of where I grew up in Indiana, but there’s low humidity and there’s mountains on the horizon right outside of town. They give me a sense of dimension and possibility that I never felt living in the Midwest.2 points

Fire Hinch. A manager NEVER takes out a pitcher when he's throwing a no-hitter. Not unless his arm falls off. These modern day pitchers are spoiled. Mickey Lolich pitched 300 innings per season. Prolly 150 pitchs per game. What a joke!!1 point

Tigers-Cubs World Series: 1907 Cubs win 4 games to (1) tie. 1908 Cubs win 4 games to 1. 1935 Tigers win 4 games to 2. 1945 Tigers win 4 games to 3. Just enough history and definitely close enough geographically and there has been some city-to-city rivalry between the two that... Yes, this should be our natural rival. Hands down. Detroit & Pittsburgh's reasons for rivalry are: (1) sort of close geographically, (2) Both are Rust Belt cities trying to reforge (literally) a different future.1 point

I saw one analysis that I thought was spot on: Emotionally, when prices go up, you process that directly, but when you get a raise, you don't see it as because wages and prices generally go up together as part of the same macro economic effect, it's because YOU, as an individual, earned IT. So even though you are keeping up, you don't process your wage increases as inflation cancellation the way an economist would tell you they really are. I think there a kernel of truth there.1 point

Bert has his 6 runs. But in 11 innings, it comes out to 7.5 runs, doesn't it? 😆1 point

Nice game from Flynn, but the bigger story to me was Jaden and Jalen. Jaden continues his streak of playing terribly. Missing layups, missing threes, turnovers, and poor defense. No Cade in the lineup and you'd think he'd come out swinging. Instead he sat on the bench watching Flynn. Jalen once again did his best Andre Drummond impression. Terrible dribble drives that end in a blocked shot or turnover. Jumpshots that he's not capable of making. Complaining to the refs on offense when they don't bail him out of terrible decisions while Atlanta runs it down the court to score. When that draft happened, I thought we came out on top. But the more I see, the more disappointed I get. Maybe it's just bad habits learned from being on a team with no winners or winning culture. Either way, change needs to come at the end of this season, and the more I see the more I'm OK with one or both of these guys getting moved.1 point

The Arab world has closed its borders to Palestinians since partition. It's part of their foundational political/religious stance. The world shouldn't give them as much a pass on it as it has, but don't expect it to change.1 point

Poland immediately took in 2 million Ukranian refugees. That would pretty much be all of Gaza. The Middle East doesn't want Hamas. They only support them when they attack Israel.1 point

He absolutely should and Egypt should be receiving international pressure and condemnation for closing off their border and doing next to nothing to help refugees in Gaza.1 point

The border is undoubtedly an area of weakness for Biden, but the idea that it's the only thing that will matter when voters make a choice on Election Day is not grounded in reality.1 point

Trump's assault on mail in voting during a raging pandemic didn't help either. My position is Trump lost because of his response to COVID, not because of it. If he would've just acted like a normal politician or delegated it all to Pence, he probably wins.1 point
-
He obviously didn't win reelection regardless, but I do think the lack of door to door canvassing on the D side in 2020 had helped Trump to an extent in that election1 point

So, Cunningham out tonight. Supposedly it was load management. But it wasn’t known to the players until right before tip off? Do I have that right? What an absolutely rudderless barge of crap this organization is.1 point

Ivey shooting 3-14 right now. Again, with Cade out he should be having a big game. He just doesn't seem capable.1 point

All the above said, I still think it's odd optics at the least for the admin to be publicly castigating Netanyahu while simultaneously proposing additional arms sales to his government. And it's not like Israel needs F15s in Gaza, or would even get them in time for this conflict. The only way the timing of this make sense is if the Admim is setting up to get the GOP right wing committed to this and then turn around and tie it to Ukraine support. Other than that is does seem like a tone deaf FP move for Biden, and his FP chops are generally better than that.1 point

Reminds me of the Tintin comic book from when I was a kid. He gets captured by the Inca's and is about to get burned at the stake. Luckily an eclipse happens, they all panic and he's miraculously saved.1 point
