  1. In memory of Brian Bluhm. 17 years ago on April 16, 2007- we lost a treasured friend and member who was killed at Virginia Tech. ”And when great souls die, after a period peace blooms, slowly and always irregularly. Spaces fill with a kind of soothing electric vibration. Our senses, restored, never to be the same, whisper to us. They existed. They existed. We can be. Be and be better. For they existed.” – Maya Angelou RIP, Brian.

  2. It's a very small sample size, but Carlos may be my favorite color guy that they've had since Gibby's first run.... just really fits the role well, polished, insightful, etc.

  3. Maybe I’m the crazy one but I think all of the guys on the TV talk too much. I don’t need a deep dive into the nuance of baseball every single game. I often just like watching them game and don’t need Dan, CMO, or Gibby constantly going on and on about inside baseball minutiae. It’s nice to hear on occasion but that’s all these guys do. I’d be interested to hear Jason solo or with someone else that wasn’t an ex-player.

  5. Last season somebody on XTwitter showed a video of Clark cleaning up the dugout following a game. Picking up trash and stuff, chatting with non player employees. He's 19 signed for a tidy sum of money and basically on his own for what may be the first time in his life. If a pair of cleats defines your opinion of him.......

  8. Sure, Cabrera was an elite hitter for most of his career and Canha is just average, but it has nothing to do with double plays. If one of Canha's double play balls went a couple feet to the right or left, then he would be clutch! Also, Canha is a better player now than Cabrera was the last 7 years.

  9. and if you want to go take a nod to Constitutional originalism, I'm sure the founders never supposed that in the rural and small town continental communities of their new nation, you would be particularly likely to find jurors who didn't know or had never heard of the defendents they would have to sit in judgement of. That should never be a criteria for a fair jury.

  10. and TBF, Manny Gonzales is terrible behind the plate today. Strike zone like the Grand Canyon. Have to totally disagree with Benetti thinking the automated zone will help pitchers. I would expect a discernible jump in BA across the league. Hitters know the zone. Take away their doubt about ball being called strikes on a day like today and hitter success rates absolutely go up.

  12. I'm fed up with the naysayers.... did anybody reasonably expect them to make the playoffs higher than a 7 or 8 seed? I've listened or watched parts of every game this year and was fortunate enough to be able to attend 5 games. Regardless of what happens tonight this has been the most fun Red Wing season since they lost to Chicago in the 2013 playoffs, after leading 3-1. Yes they had the losing streaks and blown leads, etc..... but that's the mark of a 7 or 8 seeded team so what did you expect?

  13. Is there a happy medium between expecting elite hitting and our young hitters not being able to get a .600 OPS? Why are Tork, Meadows, and Keith this bad?(small sample size disclaimer). They'd be so much better off if these guys were just below average lol.

  15. The Tigers' bats really weren't supposed to be good. Projection systems that project that tend to be mocked and dismissed by rose colored glasses wearing fanbases. That doesn't necessarily mean blame should fall at the front office. This is a "see what you've got" type year, and there's plenty of reinforcements in Toledo to sift through and figure this out. The weather in early April is always underappreciated as a factor, both on the Tigers' hitting but also on their pitching. Last night's goose egg was largely sequencing and batted ball luck.

  16. Flyers-Caps will be interesting if it's tight late because the Flyers need the regulation win. They lose if it goes to OT... Flyers will pull the goalie if it's tied late and will be eliminated if it does go to OT.

  21. This is probably best case scenario for the team winning. The pitcher gives you a good shot, offense is opportunistic sometimes....lots of coinflips depending on execution and the bullpen being sharp.

  23. Israel has always said that if you kill our people, there is nothing we care about you hiding behind that will stop us from coming after you. This is a basic premise of the position they take in a hostile neighborhood. It's a piece of their deterrence posture, just like a Trident submarine is for us. We can express our own scruples about it but we shouldn't be surprised by it or think it represents any change in long standing Israeli policy.

  26. The Kane goal in Chicago was definitely the highlight of the season until last night, or last week if you must, but maybe I'm too level headed than most sports fans and I am not trying to be cocky about it. I get it. It's sports. It's an outlet. Take the highs and lows and vent. Better to do that in sports than real life. My point is just enjoy this because I always say the ride up for a team is so much better than the ride down. IT's all new and fresh and less stressful. The 2006 Tigers were more fun than the 2013-2014 Tigers and for the Wings franchise I always had a soft spot for 87 and 88. 1997 was as awesome of an experience you can get but part of that was due to feeling "It's about freaking time!". Then for 12 years it was Stanley Cup or Bust.

  27. They said they're going to do it quickly, but if James isn't just making up names and they're actually going after guys from Orlando and Milwaukee, then it probably doesn't get done until at least after the first round of the playoffs. Then that guy has to come in and decide if he wants to keep Monty and Gores, then conduct a replacements search, which means all those good replacement names will be gone.

  28. To people who don't pay attention closely, I can see how they can't keep track of all these trials he's facing. I'm seeing names from a lifetime ago pop up again, COhen, Stormy, Avanetti.... I can't follow along. And it needs to be blasted that this is the first criminal trial for a former POTUS.

  32. The hitters aren't as good as fans think. Fans never think about the other side. "Look how good our pitchers are, why do our hitters stink" You could also say "Look how good their pitchers are and why do their hitters stink?" When your side succeeds it's because of their efforts and performance and when your side fails it's because of their lack of effort/performance. It's NEVER about the other team or players.

  35. Reminded me of Roman Wilson on the tying drive in the Rose Bowl. Gostisbehere not only did a great job of jumping to catch it, but then the quick deft pass that if at all careless could have been intercepted for an easy empty netter.
