  7. Holmes has earned my 100% complete trust. If he trades back, great. Trades up, great. He is playing chess, while most GM’s are playing checkers. Looking back at his previous drafts here, how can anyone (especially us tortured Lions fans) question the man? I wish Lions fans would sit back this weekend and enjoy the ride. Seeing as how this organization has never been in a position like this, you’d think they would believe in Holmes more than a hack like Mel Kiper. Sadly, no matter who they pick, no matter how much a draft class like last year should shut them up, a bunch of clowns will get online and complain. I know this will happen and yet it pisses me off anyway.

  10. Downtown is packed and it's been a really incredible sight to see today. It's great to this many people, of all NFL fanbases getting along with one another and having a great time. The weather is solid, there is no political BS, everyone hates the Cowboys and Jerry Jones. What a great day for the city!

  13. On one hand, I still don't know that Biden has been out there engaging enough, but there is a strategy being employed that revolves around more exposure on local TV under the guise of meeting people where they are at. I don't know that I fully buy it, but that's part of what's going on. At some level, the friction is of a personal nature, but Biden's campaign and how it's allocating it's resources doesn't benefit the Times the way that other campaigns in the past have done, so it's making the Times' job tougher. Not a huge surprise that it's reflecting in their coverage, for better or worse. However, this is flying under the radar in what everyone else has said, but I think it's worth highlighting from the piece: I have to rant about this for as second.... This characterization of Sulzburger (from anonymous sources) is the sort of arrogant, elitist, condescending bull**** that people sort of hate about the media in general, particularly the coastal set. And at a time when the journalism AS A WHOLE is facing an existential crisis (ie. less and less local news sources, newspapers dying - something that many of their staff have spent time highlighting / virtue signaling about on Twitter as well), there's something really unseemly about seeing this sort of entitlement from one of the few profitable operations in America today. Like, who the hell do these people think they are? Do they think that ABC12 in Flint are incapable of practicing journalism or asking tough questions? If the last few years have taught me anything, I'd argue that local and smaller outlets are able to engage in and elicit revealing responses from politicians in ways that the big outlets never could or would.

  14. I think unless Lalonde changes his systems, the Wings will never look good when evaluating fancy stats. Their offense seems to be built around low volume but high quality shots, while their defense sorta seems to be letting other teams shoot from low danger areas as much as they want. Not saying they don't show a cause for concern, I just don't think the fancy stats are ever going to show large shot shares at 5 on 5 compared to most teams. Just my opinion though.

  16. He's not going to jail. Biggest sentence he'd get is home confinement (with a lot of exceptions). I could see a possible short ban from from social media, but he'll have his people take care of that for him. If he did go to jail he wins the election because it will be framed as political move and that will work (which means is kind of is immune to most anything). The only chance of him going to jail would be after he loses the election. And if that happened January 6th will look like a layup line before an NBA game. Because we're a really stupid country and we do stupid things and we get the government we deserve, don't we. At least the 50% of the population that bothers to even vote. Mike Judge is a visionary, but his vision only took 20 years instead of 500. Get ready to start watering plants with Moutain Dew because the brainy liberals put mind control chemicals in the water (an actual conspiracy).........I read it on the internet, must be true. .

  18. The Sewell and St Brown contracts are already updated on OTC. The Lions did not use void years on Sewell's contract and only used a $1.7 million void year on St Brown. The cap hits go up significantly around 2027 but the Lions have options to restructure or add void years. These seem like manageable contracts and they didn't tack on a bunch of void years.

  20. The Wings actually scored more goals per game without Kane in the lineup than with him in the lineup (and gave up a lot less goals against) though this does include the stretch without Larkin which is probably more of a driving force than Kane being in the lineup. But something I definitely found interesting.

  26. Sure, but they know they can't raise taxes significantly without bigger legislative majorities, so the concept of increased backing of workers rights is a practical strategy to deal with political reality. I give them credit for having their feet on the ground and not letting ideality stand in the way of working practically.

  27. Happy Draft Day everybody. I'm going down for all three days. Ford Field season ticket party tonight, tickets by the draft stage tomorrow, and just walking around enjoying the atmosphere on Saturday. Hopefully those thunderstorms stay away this weekend, everyone plays by the rules, and everything goes swimmingly. The city really doesn't need a Kansas City parade situation on its hands.

  28. Pro-Palestinian protest at the University of Texas reported by multiple local media outlets as being peaceful. No reports of any threats to life, limb, or even property. No pictures of protesters being violent. No reports of protesters calling for killing Jews. Just a large group of people standing in a public area of the campus and chanting. Yet, multiple arrests of protesters. Plenty of pictures of police in riot gear and on horseback bullying protesters and dragging them into paddy wagon. All courtesy of our good friend Governor Greg Abbott. So this is always where this was really going: the suppression of inconvenient political dissent. Party like it’s 1968.

  30. Ironically he signed Slay and Diggs to extensions. I blame Patricia for driving them out of town. They were fine when Caldwell was coach. Glasgow was a head scratcher but I'm not sure I considered him a core player.

  31. One last mock draft before I head downtown today. I traded back with Carolina and got a nice haul of players. If the Lions traded back and walked away with Jackson Powers-Johnson, Keon Coleman, and Chris Braswell I'd be pretty darn happy.

  33. People are right when they say OKC had a head start with SGA. But that doesn't change the fact they hit on Giddey, they hit on Chet, they hit on Williams. They found guys like Dort, Wiggins, Joe, the other Jaylin Williams. Even a rookie like Cason Wallace is playing 20 minutes the other night and about the same tonight. He isn't lighting the world on fire, but he isn't hurting them either.
