Frankly I question the intelligence and morality of any trump supporter. In case anybody wondered where I stand. And it’s not political. He made run of peopl like my son and if you are ok with that then there’s a fundamental difference between us.8 points

Hooray! There's still some sane people left in the world. Dealing with the dumb****ery of the Trump era is exhausting. I literally took an early retirement because having the listen to highly trained medical professionals say things like masks don't work, the jab, did he die with Covid or from Covid? Then being the black sheep liberal atheist in a family of supposed religious people. Ugh. Ironically one is a single cat lady, another had to conceive her children through IVF, another has a disabled child, one had serious mental health issues and one has post Covid complications (from before the vaccine even came out, but it's the vaccine that caused it) When asked about why they still vote for Trump despite him being against everything Jesus preaches and life issues, it seems to the the "handouts". Those illegals! Paying off student loans! The welfare moms! Mind you, all the siblings could easily pay double, triple or more in taxes and never miss it. But damnit, they WORKED for it! (Spoiler alert, we were all born on third base, but I'm the only one that realizes that) Why should they pay for those slackers!?! Thankfully, I married a sane person and we had normal children. Ha. But thank you MTS for being the eye in the ****storm of stupidity. I'm saving Romad's post.6 points

I’m guessing we’ll find out in a few minutes what we get in return. Also, welcome to Detroit, Dillon Dingler!3 points

100% this. I often hear, just don't talk politics or religion and that I should respect others' opinions. To me, it's just about being a decent human being. There aren't both sides to it. Though I couldn't see how anyone voted for him in 2016, I get the anti Hillary camp and the well, Trump is the outsider businessman thing. But now?? It's depressing and exhausting trying to pretend and explain that it's all just a little difference of opinion. I find myself distancing myself from Trump supporters and gravitating more to those that aren't. I often text Liz Cheney's quote to people who think there's nothing wrong with overlooking what Trump is. "I say this to my Republican colleagues who are defending the indefensible: There will come a day when Donald Trump is gone, but your dishonor will remain.2 points

They’ve continuously been highly competitive and have won their division multiple times in the last 15 years despite three of the other four teams always running huge payrolls. We haven’t been very competitive in our division the last 10 years despite none of the other teams ever spending much.2 points

Did Trump ever apologize for that Central Park 5 thing? No, he didn't. If you want to toss out zombie stories, I'm going to have a lot more ammo than you.2 points

Rays sign a released 30 year old relief pitcher half way through spring training and turn him into a BP asset, and then flip him for 3 prospects when they think the time is right. damn they are so good at what they do2 points

And while we're parsing statements, Trump's statement about not having or needing another election after this one cannot be highlighted enough between now and when it should be offered up as the first question in the next presidential debate. The debate can be focused on that single question for all that I care. Toss that one to Trump, and let him explain it. Make it absolutely crystal clear that he needs to expound on that particular comment. Because its either with obvious nefarious intent given the backdrop of January 6, or he's the doddering old drunk uncle fool that he quite simply is. And, actuall, probably both is true.2 points

I would contend he may or may not have taken a bullet. That's fair to debate. I would contend he's not doing anything for democracy. He's in this for himself. That's not debatable.2 points

He was dead 2 days after that term would have ended. You can only wonder if being in office would have kept him alive -- or more likely have been worse for his health and he never would have finished the term.1 point

The '68 Primary season was still pretty much controlled by party bosses. Humphrey never entered a primary race and most states selected delegates at statewide conventions. Humphrey came into the convention leading in the committed delegate count. Thanks the local conventions. What I didn't know, LBJ seriously considered re-entering the race prior to the convention, that was nixed by John Connelly. The Daley wing of the party was pushing for an LBJ/Ted Kennedy ticket1 point

That infuriated me so much. Hillary and Bernie voted nearly exactly the same on almost every bill when they were in the Senate. I think it was 95% the same. Yeah, I do think things were rigged against Bernie from the start. They were going with Hillary no matter what (I think people thought it was hers in 2008 before Obama stepped in). In fact, I think Biden didn't run in 2016 because he knew it was Hillary no matter what. But a Bernie supporter not voting or voting for Trump in 2016 is like burning down your house because you spilled wine on the carpet. Look at SCOTUS now. Well done, assholes.1 point

I've never been to Forsyth County... But knowing the history, getting hundreds of people to show up for a rally supporting a mixed race politician, to paraphrase Jake Gittes in Chinatown, seems like news.1 point

Which he did. Five innings, one run for Maeda. Pretty good outing. But he’s definitely done now and Shelby Miller is next man up.1 point

Harris would not have been my ideal choice, but I am open to the idea that she has learned things since 2020 and since ascending to the VP slot. And regarding the nominee process, I've been clear since as to my uneasiness with the decision by Biden to go for this since about October or November of last year. And the reality is that he let this go on too long, he just did. But I don't think it's Kamala Harris' fault how this has played out... It's a circumstance of Biden making the decision to go for this, having a disastrous debate and then subsequently dragging this decision out far too long to the point where, from a practical standpoint, she was the only realistic chance of making this a race. Kamala will have to prove it in these coming weeks as to whether she is worthy. I just don't think it is fair to hold it against her how she ended up in this spot, I just don't.1 point

But how are we going to rescue Western Civilization unless we either shame or force wenches into making babies to make up our future labor force once we definitely shut down all immigration?1 point

He means both. If he says "all vaccines" then he'll alienate some of his more moderate supporters. If he says, "Covid vaccines", he'll be seen as weak by his anti-vax supporters. So, he just says "vaccines". I am pretty sure, he doesn't care one way or the other about vaccine mandates.1 point

Back in the day, as the kids of 1991 like to say, we would run onto the field and burn an American flag and then throw our lighter at any player who swooped in to pick it up, and we loved it. Kids today just have no values.1 point

and yet the director of USSS was hounded out of office for not given those very details on such a real time basis. Not that I can defend the quality of her public performance but exactly as you note, she shouldn't have been answering most of the questions she was getting at the Congressional hearing even if she could have.1 point

It's amazing... He's a 78 year old man running (once again) to be the most powerful man in the world. And yet, we continue to infantilize him, act as if he has no agency or control over anything. I expect more from my five year old than what many expect from this guy apparently1 point

Last I checked, the FBI aren't in the medical field. That buck stops with the candidate who received medical treatment. I wasn't alive for Reagan's assassination attempt, but from reading about it and family who were alive at the time discussing it, he was transparent. We heard from the docs, we knew the details straight from them in a way that we just haven't here. You can go ahead and think it's nothing, fall back on "I saw what I saw on the video", but if someone wants this particular job, I expect a lot more.1 point

It’s not just the chatter about Jung at 3B. It’s the sub .900 fielding percentage, too. Now, we understand fielding percentage isn’t an end all be all by itself. But under .900? That’s awfully eye opening.1 point

So much of the opening ceremony isn't for me. No biggie. I wish others had that attitude. I was at a party last night with some friends, some of whom I've grown apart from the last few years due to their outward MAGAness getting in the way of things and my willingness to call people out for harming the public in 2020-21. Anyways, one had plenty to say when Palastine and Ukraine came across. "Give them more money! They don't have enough of our money" one said. It's one I've venting to @oblong about, and if you are facebook friends with me and saw the pic from the minor league hockey game earlier this year who decided to flip off the camera, because family values.1 point

Is it assumed to be the last supper because a bunch of people are on one side of a table? Seems to me like if you are framing a group at a feast than you want their faces shown. What makes it the last supper isn’t the way they are sitting. It’s who is in the picture. I didn’t see a Jesus in France.1 point

Having DIRECTV stream and the sports pack allows you to login to the mlb app. With that you get access to all minor league games. Lakeland games hardly have video feed. Clark and Mcgonigle being in West Michigan and all games televised makes my heart happy.1 point
