The Tigers have never had a team like this - one that was not supposed to win and was pretty much out of it half way through the season and the came out of nowhere to be arguably the best team in baseball down the stretch. This is unprecedented.6 points

If Harris or a designee offers that trade, it is a fireable offense.4 points

Cleveland beats Minnesota. Tigers' chances of catching the Guardians to win the Central take a hit and are now on life support.4 points

The best part about this playoff possibility is that we’re charging into it and not backing into it.3 points

They claim the reasoning of offering the “alternative” schools is to offset the “poor quality” public schools in some communities. What really happens is the communities that need really need the money to improve the quality of education get shafted when the school funds get moved around. Funny since the era the MAGA’s want to “return to” private schools, both religious and secular, were paid for by private funds.2 points

I’m becoming glad Javier Baez was a bust, because had he succeeded out of the gate, Al Avila would still be around, we would still have the same coaching and development crew, our prospects would be stuck in neutral, Jonathan Schoop and Gregory Soto would still be playing for us, Tarik Skubal would have been traded to the Rays for two toolsy low A prospects, Jason Benetti would be doing play-by-play for the Twins, and I’d be working as an overnight janitor for a dollar store chain. Please don’t anybody break this snow globe.2 points

My following the Tigers goes back to 1961. The 1967 squad has always had a soft spot in my heart because it was so so close, yet so far, losing it on the last day of the season. That team was supposed to be pretty good at the beginning of the season though. This team is unprecedented and is rapidly becoming my all-time favorite Tiger team.2 points

This has been one of the most unique positive Tigers runs of my lifetime. 1984 35-5 will always be #1, but this run, after selling at the deadline has been a beautiful head scratcher.2 points

At Bat is really slow with this Cleveland Minnesota game and the score is now 4–4 and AtBat is about three minutes behind the information that Dan was given.2 points

I’m starting to feel a great and temporary love for the city of Cleveland. The only time I was really there was coming back from New York City during spring break in 1971 and I visited a friend’s family in Cleveland and we went to a bar and saw the then well-known band Dr. John the Nite Tripper. One young woman stripped her top off, and we all thought that this was not spontaneous and was probably done for effect and that the band arranged it. CLEVELAND ROCKS!2 points

As if to prove the dictum that fans believe that baseball was at its best when they were 11 years old, I love the A’s green and gold uniforms, but I don’t like it when anyone else wears colored jerseys.1 point

As MTU said Trump called Mark Robinson Martin Luther King on steroids. He also said he was better than MLK and called him MLK x2.1 point

Nah, politics is basically just a bag of crap. Kielbasa, the kielbasa from Stanley's Market, is the 8th wonder of the world. Kielbasa shouldn't suffer the indignity of a political post.1 point

You know the Tigers are relevant again when you see awful trade offers like this.1 point

A rare trade where somebody offers up an overpay on our behalf, usually it would be something like Ty Madden and Justin Malloy for said players.1 point

Wow, I hadn't thought of this in that context. I've been thinking of how out of nowhere this has been and how that aspect of it compares to 2006. 35-5 is something we may never see again. That '84 team expectations. But when you line the totality of the expectations up with the output, when you look at how this team has juts completely come out of nowhere after selling off, 33-23 in the 2nd half where they were down to 2 SPs and some duct tape for a rotation is a heck of a run.1 point

The Tigers are like Fat Albert's band Listen to the music they are making from **** they found in the junkyard. They do have one electric guitar (Tarik Skubal)1 point

Yeah, 1972 was aging stars that Billy Martin kicked in the butt to win. That year was kind of a surprise. But nothing like this. We fell into the trap of an artifical playoff race. Exciting but there's too many playoff teams.1 point

I like how at least a couple of the Royals pitchers have color-coordinated their mitts with their caps. It would be a really cute ensemble if they did their shoes too.1 point

I don’t have any genuine animus for any of the teams in the Central. I just see them as obstacles to my enjoyment. And not having lived in the Midwest for over 50 years I’ve never had to mingle at games with their fan bases. So I enjoy a kind of distance from a lot of this and completely understand the ground zero enmity people who are closer to the action can have for other teams and their fans. I am in no position to be judgmental about that. Dealing with the unwashed masses of other teams is unpleasant. But being sheltered from all this in my own little La La Land out west, I have the luxury of focusing more on the adherents I’ve met of other clubs who are very literate fans and passionate about the histories of their various teams, and in this sense, like us on our better days. I enjoy that type of W. P. Kinsella collegiality with baseball fans from numerous teams and it’s sort of like Hinduism, different faces of the same God. But for the last three games against the White Sox, I have no problem forgetting what I just said and going all Lawrence of Arabia on them and yelling “no prisoners!“ and it doesn’t matter if the wild card is still in play or not.1 point
