The red hats think it will never happen to them. It’s always someone else’s concern, until it isn’t. And to those who were affected, they’ll say “well they weren’t doing nothing anyway”. thats the core difference between the new GOP and Dems. One side understands you need to help people sometimes regardless of who they are. How many times did we see Biden in Florida after some catastrophe? Weather. That condo that collapsed. I saw him sit next to Ron Desantis, when he was the presumptive favorite to run against him, and grab his hand and say “you will get what you need from us”. the GOP today thinks empathy means weakness. In reality they are weak men hiding behind fake toughness. Your camo and guns and trucks don’t make you tough. You are weak.4 points

I'm getting way too much pleasure trolling my Magat family members. They knew who he was, what he did, how many people he would hurt and voted for him anyway. Now the leopard is eating their face and I'm pouring on the gravy. I'd burn in hell if I wasn't an atheist.3 points

Speaking of family pardons, have we all just forgotten that Trump pardoned Kushner's father who actually did commit a crime?3 points

Hi, just opening this thread and going straight to the bottom to post. Accuse me of having my head in the sand all you want, but completely tuning this **** show out the last few days instead of constantly refreshing and doom scrolling has been pretty great for my psyche. 10/10 recommend.2 points

You just have to put yourself in the mindset of a bigoted person who complains about "woke" and figure out what they think is "woke" and if the research can be deemed "woke" then it won't be given funding. So if it helps minorities or foreigners...2 points

Except that it won't. For one, it's 2025. Start a podcast. It also says she's a regular on sports talk radio. Also, you do know meteorologists don't just work in TV? I mean, it's not like she made racist remarks, insulted the disabled, cheated on her spouse with a porn star and tried to overthrow the government...that would be career ending, right?2 points

Tampa has had a good defensive line the past several seasons. He interviewed for the Packers defensive coordinator last year. He was the defensive line coach in Miami when Campbell was there.1 point

When Trump walked into the National Cathedral, he probably thought it was just another photo op—Bishop Budde made sure it was a reality check. https://www.threads.net/@goodgodabove/post/DFJzv29sUP9?xmt=AQGzqVQL7qU7V0NzRJAGcXizUbxWTR3qw6l2WZ2_B52-EQ1 point

Agreed. Although I understand why some voters would be hesitant to put known Steroid/PHD users on their ballots, I can’t support the idea of someone being left out just because they’re a jerk. Schilling was a legit ace and one of the top pitchers in the NL for a long stretch of time. He deserves to be in.1 point

This is a bad week in history for NASA as the Apollo 1, Challenger, and Columbia incidents occurred during this window. Today is NASA's Day of Remembrance for fallen Astronauts. It includes tributes to those who died prematurely, not just in a spacecraft. Several died in plane accidents. 2 of them (See and Bassett) were the crew of Gemini 9 and they crashed into the building in St. Louis where their spacecraft was being built. Their backup crew was right behind them and they safely landed after making a turn to try again b/c of weather. when they landed they didn't know what happened. People ran up to them asking "Which ones are you?" because they didn't know yet who the victims were. At that time Astronauts flew T-38 jets all over the country instead of commercial to save time and money in addition to staying sharp with flying time.1 point

My guess is that funding will come with more conditions... certain types of research will be banned if it doesn't fit the current regime's agenda in some way. We've already seen scopes of research become narrower since about the mid 90s (must study acute forms of disease, etc) but we might see (I hope I'm wrong) certain types of study banned or given strict limits on what they can or can't do. If I were another country's government, I'd be looking to take advantage of this-by recruiting talented scientists and their studies/discoveries that might otherwise have worked in the US.1 point

I was very clear, I don’t do social media. In so many ways it’s because of social media that we have some of the problems we do today in this country.1 point

Was watching "Rogue Heroes" the other day and one of the ops they did was on Crete. They mentioned that the locals all wear black to commemorate the death of their messiah. So, while i was in Germany in the 1980s we used to joke about the old ladies who always wore black and it wasn't because their husbands had died in the War it was because mustache man had died. FRONTLINE investigates the rise of the Neo-Nazi AfD Party in Germany | TPR These people have always been there but the political norms have kept them down, suppressed. It was not a good thing to ease off those norms. Just as it is not a good thing for Trump and company to **** on the norms regarding bigotry and racialist violence in this country we had only just suppressed. But, hey they figured out how to build a media blowtorch to funnel Putin-created propaganda as well as their own into the eye sockets of a bunch of people who didn't like being told they couldn't use the N-word.1 point

I think it would be a good idea to block Twitter posts here to protest the Nazi Musk as well. I realize the sports content is so good but that's like saying you would fight the nazis but you enjoy their music.1 point

Elon gets to play by a different set of rules than the rest of us... Ultimately this is more of a distraction than anything, but it's pretty clear to me what happened here. And the fact that foreign outlets are willing to call it out while our media cowers is very very telling.1 point

Musk made a much more irresponsible decison doing Nazi salutes during the innauguration. I don't know why he did it, but I believe he knew exactly what he was doing and how it would be received. The autism excuse is bull****.1 point

About a quarter of the US households headed by a 60-64 year old have a net worth of $1,000,000 or more. You can live a comfortable life on that but you still have to keep working and saving. Being a millionaire is not that big of a big deal anymore.1 point

As a kid at Tigers Stadium we'd go early and my brother and I would watch the Tigers drive their cars into an area of the stadium. Brookens drove an old pick-up truck and for some reason I liked him for that and his mustache, not his bat1 point
