Wins and losses don't matter, but anybody who has big game is surely going to have a breakout season this year. Anybody who has a bad game sucks and needs to be DFAed immediately.

I made a tangential argument to someone I work with recently on this point.... part of why I don't think Trumpism truly is "conservatism" is because of the first part of that word... "conserve". These guys aren't looking to "conserve" anything as a counterbalance toward more progressive views.... they are looking to destroy. And there's absolutely no guarantee that whatever fills the vacuum of what they destroy will be any good to the average person.

The special pleading is the point. You aren't an equal citizen if you have no recourse but to beg the autocrat for mercy.

There were legitimate moments of embarrassments during his first term, but there was enough of a presence of adults within his administration then that kept things at a simmer. At various points you had guys like Jim Mattis, Mark Esper, Steve Mnuchin, Gary Cohn, Rex Tillerson, even Mike Pompeo (who I cannot stand).... not perfect people, not people I agree with on policy, but institutionalists who understand the world order that America created post-WW2 and why it is important. Those people are long gone from this administration... and the "institutionalists" that do exist in this new administration (ie. Marco Rubio most notably) are eunuchs who are happy to see their credibility used to launder terrible and capitulating policy. Presidencies have come and gone, including some I've liked and some I haven't (including Trump I)... but this is definitely the first time I've felt ashamed to be an American. And we've earned every bit of ire that the Canadians, Ukrainians, or other of our allies will throw at us.

The magnitude of this statement from a sitting US President can not be understated. A shocking turn in policy that makes very little sense domestically or globally. The only thing I can think of that logically explains it is that Trump really has been controlled by the Russians for all this time.

Sure, it's a big deal but the media is going to focus on the king comment which is going to passed off as a joke. This is what he wants. He's doing the same thing he always does. He floods the media with new stuff every day and then everyone forgets what he did last week.

I disagree. I think trump saying he is a king and overturning a popular law in a state is a big deal. He's singling out a city because it didn't vote for him. It will just escalate from here. Plus, people are more likely to respond when the federal government starts sticking their nose in local issues.

In 3 years that will be footage of MAGA Cops parading around coffins of transgendered youth or "illegals". Same mindset. On the coffins the date is listed as "Date of Arrest".

I watched a good amount of SNL growing up. I have the first five seasons of the original cast SNL in a DVD box set too. I really enjoyed the 50th Anniversary Special as a whole. But Adam Sandler's song, with his mentions of Norm and Farley really moved me. As well, at the end of the show Jane Curtain and Laraine Newman holding up the photo of the late and incredibly great Gilda Radner made me to tear up a bit. That was a nice gesture at the end of the show.

Gotta think Justin Turner signing with the Cubs may increase the chance of Mr. Workman's return.

The Keith Laws hates the Tigers thing is so lame. He used to criticize the Tigers farm system because it sucked. Now, he says good things about it it because it's good.
