I’ll be missing most of this game tonight because two of my four children that still live in town are hosting a late Father’s Day celebration occurring tonight due to logistics. Often times my absence is a boon when it comes to winning these games so I hope that’s the case tonight.

Unlimited PTO has a few main purposes: 1) PTO is no longer accrued, so it’s no longer a fixed line item on a corporate budget. 2) Eliminates the cost and effort of having a time management system in HR. 3) Marketed as a perk to employees but is really a corporate mindf as many people get scared to use more vacation time for fear of being thought of as a slacker and having it impact their chances of raises and promotions.

The festivities are occurring at my oldest who’s 33 and a marvelous chef. She makes her own pizza dough and then creates six or seven different exotic moderate sized pizzas that are like toppings layered a cloud. She’s really quite accomplished.

My son and I are going to tomorrow's game - it will be a warm one, but looking forward to it.

when i was a manager, i remember that I'd say "every vacation has risk" because invariably someone would take the fact that you were not around to hand hold them through some crisis with the company they would quit.

Just 22 days later and the Rockies season has had a 180 degree turn! Wait... sorry, forgot the decimal point. It's been a 18.0 degree turn! Okay, jokes aside the last three weeks or so since I started this thread have seen the Rockies gain some traction. In games since my post they've gone 8 and 11... a much more respectable .421, including TWO 3-game winning streaks. Now, it certainly helps that two of the teams they faced in this time where the 29-44 Marlins and the 31-44 Nationals. (In fact both of those three game winning streaks happened against those teams.) Regardless of opponents faced, the Rockies have nearly doubled their wins in three weeks and raised their season winning percentage to .227. Now, as detailed in my opening post this is still pretty bad. Both the '24 Sox and the '03 Tigers has WPCT over .250 at the end so this is still epically bad right now. But again both the Sox and the Tigers had those late season boosts (finishing 5-1) that helped them get over the .250 mark. At 75 games into the season, here's how things compare to the other two seasons: Obviously the Rockies are sitting right there with the other two teams so things are not looking nearly as historically awful as they were at the end of May. There's still a lot of season left and I think there is every chance in the world that the Rockies will end up surpassing the '24 Sox in terms of total losses. But at least right now they don't appear to be on pace to shatter that record.

I think it's a trap. The vagueness. A friend's place does that but they have a German office and so that complicates things because they have laws so they hint "Model it after Germany" but don't explicityly say so. I used to hate that my place didn't let us carry over into the next year but I've grown to prefer that policy. It forces me to use it without feeling "guilty". Especially towards the end of the year. "Well, if you'd let me carry it over, I'd not take these 4 Mondays off in a row but....."

Don't forget that Pham was suspended last month for getting into it with Angels fans. Dude is Charmin soft.

Minors will only be required to work 10hr days, though. Have to leave Sunday for church and 1-2 hrs of “I love America more than you” schooling.

I gotta tell ya, I like the rain delay conversation in the booth. Saw it yesterday, too. It works.

I got lippy at a minor league hockey game once. I was a few “pops” in. The arena was old and didn’t have plexiglass around the entirety of the penalty boxes. I was same row as the box and a few seats over. He heard me above the crowd and wasn’t pleased with my commentary, and rightfully so. Not my best moment at all. His response sobered me up, and that was that.

Yeah, if you are in the pool of people with essential skills that require the bosses to worry if you leave, people can get away with that sort of thing. In a place where your skills are very fungible and people at the top are actively cheering on AI and AGI's arrival so they don't have to deal with your kid's illnesses, your need for mental breaks, or your "religious" observances, its viewed as a discriminator for getting rid of oxygen thieves.

The Tigers still have the best record in baseball. In our own division, we have leads of 10.0, 10.5, and 11.0 over our closest competitors. And although the Rays are a darn good team, they are slightly weaker at home than on the road. Then we play the Athletics at home with a day off in between. I like our chances.
