was there one of them that had a better chair? on a halfway related note, to my own surprise, i haven't listened to sports talk radio, outside of actual game broadcasts, since the pandemic started. back then, i didn't want to hear a bunch of yahoos who knew even less than the people who were supposed to know talk about the pandemic. in my mind, that extended into sports. the various hosts don't know more about the tigers than i do. in fact they demonstrated many times that they knew less. i didn't find it entertaining anymore, just annoying.

I'd say 65% of Red Wings fans want to fire Yzerman for the wings sucking. They were left with NOTHING after mortgaging their future for so long. Of course it's going to take time to rebuild. How many times has he been shafted when the draft literally determines the future of your team 80% of the time? Harris, if he lets Skubal walk for 1 pick instead of 3 top prospects, will set the Tigers back like the Red Wings have been set back. Maybe not as drastically since the Tigers have a great farm system. But still, there's so much more value then trading him. Even if they do keep him, realistically they get 2-3 good years. You really want to commit 40 million dollars for 8 to 10 years for 2 or 3 good years? Come on now. Like someone said before, we got him for his prime, let someone else pay for his decline. If we can get Painter for Skubal and others, its a no brainer. You hope Skubal gives you a chance to win 1 out of every 5 days. I'd rather commit 40 million to a position player that helps me win 5 out of 5 days and spend 20 million on a pitcher that's 85% as good as Skubal.........

I am a big fan of defense and I was thinking K'Bryan Hayes could be the new Brandon Inge, but he is even worse than Inge offensively. I don't think they can afford having a bat lke that in the line-up on a regular basis.

If I were Illitch, I'd aim to position the Tigers for sale for the year 2030. Maximize attendance, TV ratings, and merch until then. Signing Skubal and winning a championship or two would drive that. A new owner in 2030 won't be scared off by the remaining few years of Skubal's contract, will just see it as a cost of entry for acquiring the team.

Great, actually. No one can take away the joy and excitement of 4 Cup triumphs over a 12-year span. Give me 2 World Series and 2 Super Bowls over the next decade. That will take me to 68 years old.
