I love the spirit of giving during these holidays... Not even gifts... But the giving of warmth and kindness, patience, love to family and friends, hugs and kisses... So the gifts are just a part of that (to me) and it doesn't even have to be big things... just something small in a "thinking of you" manner. Also, I don't believe in an all-consuming everybody, only those closest... outside of that it has to be an agreed upon thing... So... I never want to overdo it... But I do enjoy a few small gifts, giving and receiving, with closest friends and family. More than anything else... I enjoy all the smiles and happy spirits/ times...2 points

Hi. Purdue alum here. Brohm is the only successful coach we had in the years since Tiller retired. I can go on an on about the good and the bad. Some stray thoughts. A supermajority of the blue chip recruits we have ever gotten happened under him. Guys like Moore, Bell, Karlaftis were huge recruiting wins. I don't know where the knock on recruiting comes from. My understanding is he has done well at the portal at Louisville. The team had major discipline issues, a rash of personal fouls after third down. Brohm himself was flagged way too often for going after the refs. The Syracuse game his last year at Purdue was bad. I don't know where this reputation that he is a quarterback whisperer comes from. I believe the most successful NFL QB he has worked with is David Blough. I am betting Louisville would hire Brian in the wake, which will make this palatable to his family that begged him to take that job. That may also shield you from his toxic other brother Greg on the administrative side. The 30 point win over Ohio State in 2018 was the greatest day of my life.1 point

You'd think this is a godsend to the Unis in ME, VT and NH which have much less population than CT and RI and MA1 point

Every consecutive year you are in the lottery, you lose 3 draft spots. First year in the lottery, you draft wherever the lottery puts you. Second consecutive year, you get assigned a draft slot by the lottery, then subtract 3 places. 3rd consecutive year in the lottery, subtract 6 spots, 9 spots, etc.1 point

Want to bet that this is a bit of malicious compliance on the part of a CBS staffer or two? No one happened to tell her that copies of the original programming had already been sent out to other streaming services for next day availability1 point

This is the saddest i've been as a lions fan in a really long time. it feels like the window is closing. otoh, a one year blip happens a lot in nfl history. this could be just a blip for them. now, the fact that the LIONS had a window at all is amazing. but ragnow's retirement devastated their identity and they havent recovered. the dline is a major disappointment and brad holmes has to take a lot of the blame there. the lions have a lot of talent that is still in its prime. the best rt in football. maybe the best rb in football. the best slot receiver in football. a very good pass rushing end, a very good mlb. some safeties who can play. getting mcneill healthy will be key. getting a cb who can cover and stay healthy for a year is important. but getting someone - ANYONE - who can rush the damn passer consistently is the most important thing. this year isnt over yet. there's a non-zero chance green bay loses out and the lions win out. its plausible. but the way the year has gone is a real disappointment.1 point

Pretty sure the new CBS sees this as a benefit. Gives them a chance to clear out the “traitors” and replace them with “patriots”.1 point

But to the extent that this story will move the needle in any way…. I see no difference between airing it and shutting it down and letting the uproar be the story. That obviously wasn’t her strategy. But we don’t need any more stories to understand how awful these people are. The symbolism stinks for sure.1 point

I really, really like the bullpen Harris has built for the Tigers. The better arms give Hinch plenty of very good options. Kenley Jansen, Will Vest, Tyler Holton and Kyle Finnegan should shorten games up to 6 innings. Other teams better get to our SP before the bullpen arms take over. Spring Training....hurry up!!1 point

Boras is working his PR game. Probably wants the Pistons to offer 350 so he can take it to Free agency as a starting bid. I don't trust him.1 point

devise a system where the worst teams get first crack at the best young talent, then they get to keep that talent at below market cost for a signifcant amount of time. say....6 years. but the last three years will be based more on the market than the first three, which is when the team do the most developing and need some return on investment. that should make things pretty fair, dont you think?1 point

She's not a good writer. She uses too many words just to make a word count. Redundancy. And will throw in random stats that don't really have meaning or sense. "Second consecutive day of drawing a 3 ball count twice before the 6th inning" "Had 3 Runs Batted In for the third time in the last 9 games" She plays the influencer game where she over tags people and topics to draw clicks. I applaud her for following her dream and passion but being critical of her work is fair game. We've ripped tons of the Tigers twitter folks here over the years. We don't have to be extra nice to her just because she's a girl. She gets paid for some of her work and has asked for donations to support it.1 point

Agree on Beck. He is good. Reporters I can't stand are the ones in the business of creating news as opposed to reporting news. Classic Example: Buster Olney makes a comment that negotiations between Bregman and Tigers may have become "Nasty" because Harris (and Hinch) said the Tigers can win without Bregman. Several other reporters pick this up and say the Tigers will struggle to sign Skubal because he is also a Boras client. No first hand sources, no insider information, just reporters reporting on the opinions of other reporters. A certain Detroit Free Press writer comes to mind ...1 point

Once again, my belief the division winners shouldn't get automatic playoff births is rearing the ugly side of its head. This time it could have a major negative impact on The Lions. After Tampa lost to Atlanta yesterday, there is a real chance that the winner of the NFC South has a losing record. However, that team will still get a playoff spot. This is BS! There's a real shot that an 8-9 Buccaneers or Panthers team makes it in, while an 11-6 or 12-5 Lions team (or someone else) is left out. Just because you win a garbage ass division, by getting to play a bunch of bad teams twice on your schedule, doesn't mean you should get an automatic playoff birth. It's pathetic that the NFC South gets a team in, while a team with a winning record playing in one of the clearly superior NFC North and NFC West divisions, might not get in. Overall record should matter more than winning a crappy division. I'll never change my mind on this.1 point
