They want a fundamentalist evangelical theocracy. That means the presbyterians, the lutherans, the methodists, and yes the catholics will all be targeted because those aren't the right kind of Christians. They want Iran. These Christian Nationalists are no different than the extreme Islamic states who use their religion to squash women and dissent.6 points

That's exactly what this is. That's why they're sending back 5 year old kids who are here going through the process and are not criminals. Then they'll eventually get to US citizens. The goal is all the brown and black people. These ****ers are white supremacists and want a white country. Their voters and supporters are either racists too, extremely dumb, extremely naive, or extremely greedy to where none of that matters as long as their 401(K) grows. There's no justification or way around it.4 points

The only way to get Skubal to not hit the open market is to knock his and Boras' socks off with an offer. Say like 3-years, $180 million. This allows Skubal to potentially cash in again plus it allows the Tigers to get a massive contract off of the books fairly quickly. Hopefully, CI will pry open his wallet quickly enough to get such a deal done.2 points

Yup. Although I hate the term 'ethnic cleansing.' It sounds like a way to downplay what's going on. And while I'm hoping we squash this way sooner than this, some of his supporters are going to realize that they're of a background that ends up being 'unacceptable' too. There are still a lot of people who hate Catholics, for example.2 points

Well, it’s exactly when he did with Morton, so yeah. Having read @MichiganCardinal’s Reddit link, I am much more comfortable with this choice. If he’s really focused on creating situations and mismatches, I think it will be a good hire. I always felt like Morton just called plays he liked without the added layer of manipulating the defense. It just worked at the start of the season due to the talent gap.2 points

Jobe can be moved to the 60 Day IL and free up a 40 man spot the day pitchers and catchers report. Just to add some specificity...2 points

EAR UPDATE: Noticed sensation (sound like a muffled or broken speaker) yesterday coming from the left headphone for the first time since my ear shut off. Did a hearing test today and while the results would not be called "good" as a whole, they is significant improvement in noticing "sensation" even if it isn't definable sound, and that is a major step forward. Been taking the steroid drops once a day for 7 days now, so it appears that this IS a virus of some kind and that either the drops or working or the virus is running it's course. No guarantee I get the hearing in that ear back 100%, but I'm certainly feeling better about it today than a week ago. I have to go all the way out to Macomb from Dearborn for these visits. The reason is that because this happened during the holiday break it was very hard to get an appointment anywhere close to home. I go to a Corewell Health center 48 miles from home, while I have one 4 blocks from where I live, but I need to stick with the team I started with. But, holy ****, M-59 is the worst ****ing road to drive on. There is ZERO traffic flow. It's a bunch of cars just doing whatever. There is no fast lane/slow lane, it's just pure chaos and half of these people aren't even looking at the road and cutting across several lanes of traffic to make the turn - and I'm not sure 20% of our drivers understand what the Green Light means. You don't need to hit your breaks when coasting through a green light. I hate that ****ing road.2 points

I have an awful feeling he'll target Iceland, to prove that 'he meant to say that.' He'll probably get Cuba mixed up with an actor.1 point

you'll be able to fill a small, outdoor swimming pool with del's tears if the pistons trade for lauri markannen or anthony davis.1 point

Many decades ago, my much older brother bought a old beater car, in this case a Caddy (maybe late 50s?) and then asked the family to find the gas fill nozzle. 🤔 It was behind the taillight assembly, you pushed on one of the lens circle to flip it up.1 point

someone noted that they selected AAA All-star Christin Stewart with the pick they were awarded when Max Scherzer left, so that's something to look forward to to 20311 point

Players must play in 65 games and play a minimum of 20 minutes in 63 of those games. That's not on average, it's for each individual game. Looks like he's already down 11 games of eligibility halfway through the season due to not being active (4 games), fouling out, or JBs weird lineups. Sadly, chances are he won't even qualify.1 point

Thanks for the update, MCS. 👍 I’m glad to read that there’s improvement, and I will hope that it continues in that direction. 🙂1 point

I agree. IMO... there is NO deadline trade of Skubal. Either we get a godfather offer soon, and Harris pulls the trigger on a deal he likes... Or we get an entire season of Skubal and simply take the 2027 comp pick. Could have some great fun this summer, with Skubal... Not a bad place to be either way.1 point

I'm sure I'm in that database someplace...probably from that moratorium rally I observed in 1969 or "correcting" a conservative social studies teacher on Earth Day about the same time. Probably for a few of my posts here obviously.1 point

Somewhere in the mid to late '60s early '70s the parties did a major beliefs switch. It was part of Nixon's "Southern Strategy" combined with backlash over Viet Nam. Johnson's Great Society and the Civil Rights Act turned Conservative Southern States against the Democratic Party. Nixon sealed the deal. When the walls came down with the Fairness Act, all hell broke loose. IMO1 point

Interesting. I did a quick Google search, and the link below is their "What we do" link on their website. What we do I started at their main page and ended up with this one because the first rule of investing is to understand how a company makes their money. After skimming this one, I still don't know. After searching some of their claims this might be a technology kind of thing for drone telemetry. That said, what they really seem to be good at is spitting out a bunch of word salad that sounds like it came from a breeding mistake between a used car salesman, a marketing shyster, and enough tech words mixed in to make it look legit.1 point

Starting to question his injury history. Only played 20 games last year and has already missed about 23 games this year. If healthy and he gets back to shooting 40% from three like he did in 2024, he is a nice player on a good contract. Two big if's though.1 point

There are only six former Tiger players, who had their best seasons in Detroit, who have entered the HOF by way of the BBWAA ballot (All others elected by veterans' committees) Ty Cobb Mickey Cochrane Charlie Gehringer Harry Heilmann Hank Greenberg Al Kaline JV and Miggy will join the list (assuming Scherzer goes in as a National). Skubal has the potential to be on the list in the future. Independent of all other concerns, there is real value in having Skubal try and win a third straight Cy Young as a Tiger (Greg Maddox and Randy Johnson are the only pitchers who have won more than 2 consecutive Cy Young awards).1 point

I'm confused. I really think the Tigers could get 3 top 100 prospects for Skubal...... I still stand behind Andrew Painter, Justin Crawford and Aiden Miller for Skubal being the comparable price I'd put on him...... ESPECIALLY after the Peralta trade. To put it in perspective. The Dodgers would give up something like Roki Sasaki, Dalton Rushing and Zyhir Hope....... I don't think price wise that is out of the realm.... Do I think it will happen? No I don't. I could see the Tigers waiting until the deadline, being out of it, and giving Skubal up for ONE of those. Hence why I think they should trade him NOW. But just my $0.02.1 point

Really good post on Reddit about the Petzing hire if you're wanting a reason to be optimistic. Here's the original source.1 point

I believe the Tigers know there is 0% chance their FA offer to Skubal will even be remotely competitive to offers from the Mets, Dodgers, Phillies, Yankees, Rangers, Giants, etc. They know Skubal will not sign with the Tigers because he wants to win and the Tigers aren't going to spend for top tier FA's like the other teams I mentioned. Their payroll is so much lower than the other teams and that affects the players that the team can put around him. For the Tigers or any team with a low payroll to compete, things have to fall in place perfectly for them. And the last 2 years have been best case scenario for the Tigers. Look at this off season: the Tigers have done basically nothing to improve.1 point
