  1. We've had voting machines since the mid '60s on a regular basis if not before. I would say most machines are optical readers, leaving a paper trail. Getting rid of mail in ballots disenfranchises poor citizens, Ones that cannot afford to take the time off to stand in line at a polling place, do not have the means of getting there, or have employers that will not allow time off. If you are going in that direction then declare it a national holiday, mandate that all businesses must be closed on election days and provide transportation for all who desire it. Also do away with absentee ballots. **** your planned vacation, if you want to vote, stay home. That includes all politician's as well. The only people who think the current system is rigged are the ones trying to rig it

  5. If our Disruptor In Chief really wanted fair elections, he would suggest (not demand on his private social media) something like this. 1) Hand marked paper ballots. Standardized paper as to size and format. 2) Optical scanning of all ballots 3) Ballots counted when they are returned, results withheld until after election day. This includes both mail in and hand delivered early voting. 4) No pure electronic voting. 5) Standardized Audits, triggered automatically if the percentage of the vote is within certain perimeters (say 1-3%). The audits performed by independent parties (this maybe a stretch). All audit results must be transparent. No pure electronic voting. There must be a paper trail Independent and secure methods to transport ballots if moved to a central location. Heavy fines for frivolous challenges, Just a few thoughts. I have no objections to early voting, or mail in ballots. There must be cutoff dates for mail in ballots, say postmarked 10 before election day. Walk-in early voting ends the Friday before election day. I would leave most of this for the states to decide since elections are still run by the states and not the Federal Goverment,

  6. It also takes away voters serving in the military overseas. As well as residents of nursing homes who can't vote in person, even if transportation was provided.

  19. We went to Toledo a couple of times and bowled the Shammy Burt 40 frame game, I have recollection of what the name of the lanes was. Our other yearly event in Ohio was the 3rd week of March 50-60 guys from my hometown would go down and bowl the Hoinke Classic at Western Lanes in Cincinnati. You could win some serious $$ there since the tourney ran for a year at a time. And going back to your averages post, we loved having our rough averages from the old house we bowled at when it came time for tournament handicapping.

  22. Additionally, having physical restrictions, whether it be not able to stand for a length of time, or even walk to the polling places - does this somehow disqualify you from being a citizen wanted to do their civic duty? Bwcause it sure as hell feels that way

  26. IDK, if a guy can shoot but isn't an athlete, can he ever become one? Nope. If a guy is an athlete and is still only 19, might he develop a shot? Well...maaaaybe. It almost never works out but I think that's the logic behind the popularity of that kind of pick.

  27. LOL - I always distrusted these 'closet on wheels' machines with all the levers because you never got any kind of confirmation that it tallied. You would pull back the big red handle to open the curtain and all the levers you flipped down would flip back up and your votes were just gone - weren't they? (sort of like the Simpson banker clip?). These guys started showing up in the late 50's. The first election after I was in grade school was 1960 and I remember these bad boys lined up in the hallways prior the Nixon/Kennedy election.

  28. Oakland County, Farmington Hills instituted "absentee, early voting, for senior citizens" several years ago. In Virginia we can ask for a mail in ballot. I get one and usually drop it off at the county registrar's office when my wife goes to vote. It's quick, and extremely easy. The ballots are read by an optical machine. Hanging Chad's are probably an ancient relic now. Anyone who opposes this system is a loser and ckouldn't graduate from sixth grade unless their father paid someone off

  29. I don't think Trump will get any GOP support on this - as noted, forcing people to vote in person hits GOP constituencies - the old and working class workers, the hardest.

I’m thinking modern-day Colosseum. Where he can stage his UFC matches or Hunger Games or damnatio ad bestias spectacles or whatever.

  35. Jose Ramirez is a great athlete even though he may not look the part. He is the toolsiest 5 tool player in baseball. Plays great defense, Strong Arm, hits for average, and last year - at age 32 - hit 30 hrs and stole 44 bases. Of course he is a switch hitter whose LHP/RHP career OPS splits are .856/.857 and career slugging percentage splits are .507/.502. I am sure he could also play softball because he does everything well.

  36. I was trying to remember if Imperial was at Central & Reynolds. Long gone. When they closed, the annual PBA stop moved to Southwyck. Southwyck is still open, but somewhere along the line Toledo lost its bid as an annual stop for the PBA. Maybe they don’t do weekly stops like they used to, I have no idea.

  40. It's a mistake for a couple of reasons. He's not good enough to be a starting 4 anymore and they lose the ability to absorb his expiring contract into next years' cap space if they don't trade him. I suppose they can re-sign him anyway but I'm kind of meh on that tbh. I've said this before but this isn't a championship caliber team. No team with Robinson and Harris in a starting lineup not to mention a non-factor offensively in Ausar is serious about winning a Championship. The Pistons are deep and they play very good defense but they can't shoot, their starters just don't stack up well against other contenders and they don't have a #2 option, a legit #2 scorer and/or shot creator. This season has been a great story and a fun ride but I see playoff struggles ahead for this roster with all their flaws.

  41. this. With the lane maintenance being all mechanized, controllable, reproducible, high scores are more common. Plus customized drillings etc. I have a younger cousin married to pretty athletic guy who loves to bowl and golf and he's rolled multiple 300s. When we where growing up everybody's parents were in leagues and we never heard of anyone bowling a perfect game.

  42. An example of Trump's projection; He falsely claims protesters are being paid by democrats. In the meantime, he's paying untrained racists, insurrectionists, proud boys and violent felons he pardoned $50,000 to join ICE. His budget for this group of violent agents is greater than many countries entire armed forces. Our tax dollars are being used to destroy democracy. SMH

  43. that may all be true, and moving independents is the good first step, but there is still a limit to how much you an extrapolate when less than half the normal electorate shows up. It make sense that independents unhappy about the current trends showed up to register their displeasure, but that doesn't resolve whether you've moved enough the 200k that stayed home. And to be honest, it will be fine if Dems to win in 26 because of low GOP turnout. That's exactly how I expect them to win if they do. It seems to be the case in US politics that no-one ever changes their mind, they just gain or lose enthusiasm for their side and so either do or don't vote.

  45. Was in a bowling league with a friend. We prebowled one week because we weren’t going to make it for league night. Friend rolled a 300. It counted as far as the score goes, but because we prebowled, it wasn’t an official 300. I guess they put an asterisk on it. Meh, whatever, he’s had a few official 300s besides the asterisked one.
