OK... so go easy on me here... I'm a rookie fan in spring training, never done this before. And my digital camera is a little crappy so, did the best that I could. Plus, we're behind a chain link fence when they're practicing in the distance so... no closeups here. I did crop some photos to sort of "zoom" in, although that might affect the quality a bit (makes it blurry?) Well... since I fibbed already... when the guys were walking to the field they pass right by so all the autograph-seekers are lined up (I don't really pursue autographs so I was just happy to take some photos.... I was on the minor league/ catchers & pitchers side today, tomorrow or Wednesday I'll go back and take some photos from the Major Leaguers side... One last thing, I don't know many of the minor leaguers by facial recognition, and not all of the Detroit Tigers... But just wanted to share some spring training photos... Best I could do... I'll try to describe what little I can. Also... met a "veteran" spring training dude, Norm, who was as nice as anybody I've ever met... he talked me through some of the "do this, not that" of spring training. Talked me into a Thursday BBQ with the team as well (run by the Lakeland Chamber of Commerce). Free food & beer for the minor leaguers so they'll mostly show up, a few of the MLB guys too. I'm not a big autograph guy so I'll be happy to just sit and shoot the breeze with whoever is there.2 points

He was a Titan. That generation that came up in the late 70s to complement the directors who took over Hollywood. Will have to watch The Apostle later this week.1 point

I was diagnosed as a type 2 right when i turned 50. For the next 6 years i cycled through all of the type 2 medications (and side efects) all the while i kept losing weight. Finally i went to ER and was diagnosed as a type 1 and spent 4 days in ICU. I was seeing a Dr. regularly but he was an older guy and never thought to test for type 1 antibodies i guess. Modern technolgy has made living with type 1 a lot easier than even 20 years ago, pre cell phone and closed loop pumps. Having a CGM gives me constant feedback on the effects on what i am eating and the effects of my activity. It is easy to gain weight on insulin so i limit my carbs daily to 80-100 a day and avoid high glycemic foods altogether. I also workout regularly, working out can drop your numbers fast. Especially cardio for me. So i have to bring snacks just in case. My advice is if you can get insurance to cover a CGM get one if you don't already have one. It makes controlling your blood sugar a lot easier.1 point

I guess someone is leaking KD's DM's and group chats from his burner. No clue how it was verified, but everyone seems to agree this is him. Some highlights1 point

Article in today's Free Press says Riley worked all winter on his swing. He says he want to be more of a situational hitter with men in scoring position. And shorten up his swing with 2 strikes. Sacrificing a bit of power to cut back on his 201 strikeouts last season? https://detroitsportsnation.com/riley-greene-strikeouts-new-approach-2026/ddrysdale/detroit-tigers/02/14/2026/483816/1 point

just started a class with the wife. I agree the social aspect is very good. I'm in a beginner class but today was figuring out how to start spinning the ball like I do with ping pong.1 point

The 1Bdude lived through that play, probably has looked at the replay several times, and is probably still not expecting that kind of throw was physically possible from a D1 2B. Or maybe the poor kid is related to Steve Sax or Chuck Knoblauch?1 point

I am lucky that on January 31, 1989, as I was blissfully ignoring my New Year's resolution by sitting on the couch munching shelled peanuts and watching TV after another day at the salt mines, I was shamed by an ad in the Detroit Free Press and motivated to go sign up for Vic Tanny. Thirty-seven years later, I am still working out on the regular. Again, I consider myself very lucky that I was uniquely motivated that day by my self-imposed shame. Had I not made that resolution in the first place, had I not been flipping through the Free Press that night, had I not been drawn to and read that ad and remembered my resolution that I was blowing so spectacularly at that very moment, I would likely be in a far different state with my fitness and health today. And here is that ad:1 point
