I’m not sure why Holmes and Campbell would still communicate with Decker? He asked for his release and they granted it. He’s no longer a Lion so what do they need to talk about? I think the Lions called his bluff. He’ll probably end up signing with another team for less than what the Lions were going to give him.2 points

The Red Wings could learn a lot about heart and consistency from the Pistons2 points

I hope they eventually change the challenge thing to an elctronic strike zone on every pitch. If the challenges are accurate, why not just do it automatically? If they are not accurate don't use it at all. Why make a game of timing the challenges?2 points

I spoke to a woman for over an hour whose dad was an Air Force officer and she and i were fixated on how the system used to have rules. You abided by them and you could have a career even if you were a Dominican Republic immigrant as her dad was. Spoke to a buckeye fan and commiserated about the angst we had on the day of The Game and how we felt that way all the time now but in a bad way. Spoke to a bunch of vets. Had another long chat with a dude about Andor (see the Nemik quote poster above “Opression is the mask of fear”)2 points

So if I have this right, Decker tells Dan he wants to come back. Dan says great I’ll talk to Brad day after tomorrow. Tomorrow Decker goes public knowing Dan and Brad were not going to talk until the day after. Again, this seems at best short-sighted on the part of Decker. Maybe it was even manipulative, in attempting to circumvent Brad and the salary piece of it, which he had to assume was at least a possibility. Decker is not coming off as a sympathetic character in my view.1 point

that's the thing about a baseball game though - runs in the 1st count just as much as runs later and any pitcher can end up on the ropes at any point in a game, so I guess I'd just as soon press any advantage at any point. But I will admit there is a difference between burning your 1st and your last challenge. If a game looks like it's going to stay close I'm more on board with trying to keep the last challenge in your back pocket.1 point

My initial thoughts on ABS are I’m not sure it’s worth it to challenge early in a ballgame unless it’s potential rally extending call like the ones last night with Tork and McGiggity. You want to save them for situations where they have an impact on the outcome of the game. That’s typically going to happen more in the late innings. I also think it should only be used on a potential strike 3 or ball 4.1 point

I wonder what this will do with pitch framing.1 point

I hope it does force them to move on from Umpires that aren't very good. There are an enough guys who call a good game behind the plate, MLB has had no real need to keep the guys who don't. It's just been habit, but now it's a habit they have more motivation to fix.1 point

I’ve tried twice to get into him and I just can’t. I know he’s great and am not knocking him or his fans. Just not for me.1 point

The problem with Proctor is that he is NOT a Lions/ DC/ Holmes type of player. IMO. Effort level ebbs and flows, and that's a no-no with this Lions Admin. Maybe it's not an issue and CC is correct... But I am guessing he is not on this one...1 point

I wonder if enough of these outings forces MLB to go to ABS all of the time sooner than we think.1 point

When I get one of the new bills with Drumpf’s signature I will write underneath: Is A Felon1 point

What you are missing is that your conclusions are not based on facts, he doesn't have a lot of swing and miss, he has a relatively low k rate and he makes a lot of hard contact, he has superior strike zone judgement and he has been very young for his competition level. He also should end up as a plus defender.1 point

I think the problem last night is clear: those amateur men’s team’s jerseys and the two toned caps were bad juju. The baseball gods have spoken.1 point

I watched a video on the analytics of batters challenging calls, and the short of it said that challenging early in games or in low-leverage ABs is generally unwise unless it's an absolutely egregiously bad call.1 point

I’m not a fan of Carpenter leading off. I get why Hinch likes that, but Carp is so aggressive at the dish and having him lead off just always seems like he’s in HR or Bust mode. Carp is at his best when he works a count a little bit and waits for the mistake.1 point

Tampa beats Ottawa in regulation. NYI beats Florida in regulation. I'll take it. Means the Wings again control their playoff destiny. Tied with Ottawa but with a game in hand. 3 pts behind NYI but with 2 games in hand. So the Wings are still behind NYI, but if the Wings beat Philly they'd pull back to 1 pt behind NYI with 1 game in hand so would be ahead on points %.1 point

Read up on his wiki page. I don’t think Goldwater would have went along. He consistently spoke out against the religious right and in tne 80s and 90s said the party had been taken over by kooks.1 point

swing and miss? as a 19 year old, his K rate was 19.2% across low A and high A as a 20 year old, his K rate was 16.9% across high A and AA as a 21 year old, he is at AAA and its very likely he gets at least gets a cup of coffee in the majors, if not more he may not be a superstar but just about everyone ranks him as the #1 OF prospect is baseball for a reason geez. tough crowd1 point
