The lack of creativity from the coaching staff last night is stunning. Every single time down it was the exact same thing. Cade starting with the ball in his hand at the top of the key. The Cavs defense was in position before Cade even crossed mid-court because they knew exactly what was coming. The same exact thing over and over. We knew months ago this tactic would be deployed against Cade. The staff had the entire season to come up with a way to counter it, and they obviously have found nothing. Just running the same garbage over and over and hope it works isn't a strategy. Put 4 guys on one side of the floor and let Cade ISO on the other. Set the screen with a shooter instead of a big. How about starting Cade off ball. Put him on the baseline, set a down pick to free him up. Start him off ball in the corner, give it to Harris or Duren in the high post, bring Cade to the ball for a direct hand off. How about run a PnR with Jenkins and Duren and have Cade act as a weak side cutter. Get him moving! If a team is going to double a guy you want him moving when he gets the ball. Does that stop the double? No, its still coming. But maybe now its a step late because he gets the ball in a different area of the floor. Maybe it gets caught up in traffic. Maybe they just have a brain fart and screw up the double because they are seeing a different offensive set and have to think on the fly. Stop running the Cade sledgehammer from the top of the key every damn play. The fact an NBA coach and his staff couldn't come up with a different play to get Cade better looks is mind-blowing. It should concern everyone moving forward.

We essentially have no choice but to play him and hope he helps the team or at least improves his value for trade. But we also need to be planning for a new first baseman next season and if one become available before to make the move.

I shared these guys in the “what are you listening to” thread and now it’s time for the geeky stuff. Lots of loopers and they are using microtones. I didn’t know what that was so I’ll include a video of an explanation which makes it very clear. It’s essentially a 24 note scale and it’s not some Willy Nilly “find an odd note” technique. It’s very Asian based with a whole lot of jazz. These guys are innovators and need to be appreciated for the sheer genius of what they do. Drummer brings it. Hard.

The Tigers offensive roster is a series of unmade decisions..offer Gleyber arb because it's convenient, roll Tork out there just hoping and praying he will get better based on inertia. Sticking to the platoon system with guys can't replicate outlier seasons. That's why it looks so hapless sometimes. Greene, Dingler, and McGonigle will be around after the lockout ends. I can't say who they should commit to beyond that. We can't do anything about the pitching..there is just natural attrition and guys get hurt. We will get some injured guys back and others will get hurt.

Tork is a mixed bag right now - he's walking enough to be keeping one of the better OBPs on the team but he's fallen back into the his usual rut of taking so many strikes looking for perfect that his K rate is too high. He strikes me as a guy who just can't get out of his own way mentally to maximize the physical talent he does have and it's frustrating to watch. He needs to go to RF more and he needs to swing at strikes both of which he is perfectly capable of. If we had a LHB that could play first you could sit him against tougher RHP ( of course Anderson is a RHB) - you'd think that guy could be Keith, but he's a worse defender and until he finds some ISO he's no more productive than Tork has been. This team just is not gelling according to plan.

It’s even worse than that: they hated the prevailing norms because it did not explicitly privilege white Christians above all others. They wanted the norms destroyed so they could be seen and honored, even as they themselves don’t recognize it’s all just empty lip service. Who cares if the economy gets tanked, we become impoverished, and America gets stripped for parts? Jesus is coming any day now, anyway.

Both things can be true. Cade kept the team in the game pretty much by himself. But he also made some massive mistakes that let Cleveland send it to OT and eventually win it. He wandered off of his man multiple times leading to made 3 pointers. Strus picking his pocket for the Mitchell layup. Not boxing out Harden and giving up a huge offensive rebound for Cleveland.

Anybody blaming Cade for this loss are completely clueless. He was doing everything once Harris cooled down and was exhausted down the stretch. Exactly right, he was let down by his coach first and foremost and his teammates. 3 guys played well most of the game, Cade, Harris and Jenkins. Stew played well for a time and Reed for stretches but it was largely a 3 man show and then largely a 1 man show as Harris faded because he was also gassed.

Years ago, when local TV ratings wars were the thing, one of the Detroit stations brought in a new crew, mostly hired from out East. The station with the people with most local depth started running commercials against them that highlighted an anchorperson representing one of the foreign imports mispronouncing Gra.tee.ot. It was a very well done takedown. In the Detroit area there are two road names that betray the foreigner - Gratiot, and for West siders 'Lahser' which the unfamiliar (including too many Detroiters actually) invariably dyslexicly read and pronounce as 'Lasher'

This and you can't say anything else. The officials cost us this game with that. They directly stole a scoring opportunity by not calling that.

i know cade is the reason they were even in the game, and he's their best player by far, but he's been a no-show ever since they started doubling him.

But he was never offered and it’s insulting to Dan Campbell for him to just come and claim Dan was the Lions second choice.
