I honestly don’t give a **** whether a player was a “Harris” or “Avila” guy. That’s a tired topic. Many people in the org doing player evaluation work worked under both. I guarantee you the fact a player was obtained by Avila’s “regime” has zero impact on their decision making process.1 point

without doing a lot of research, off the top of my head the thought on this would be that maybe Hinch had been deploying his better bullpen pieces with the lower end of the rotation on the theory his top two should need them less, esp with Skubal. Like I said, I'm spitballing here, but there seem to be a number of painful memories of the BP blowing good Skubal starts despite my psyche's attempt to block them. If that means now the unreliable bullpen pieces are deployed more after Melton and Jobe......you see the potential problem. Anyway - just a possible take for the counter intuitive results.1 point

I was wondering what was his story so looked into it this morning. Appeared in a handful of games in relief in the majors in 2022, then headed over to Japan for a few years. Washington took a flyer on him this winter, he has made 23 starts this season with a 3.31 ERA and 1.11 WHIP, but the Nationals decided to deal him at the deadline for 4 middling prospects.1 point

Yeah, in his post-game, Hinch said he was sitting him tonight, no matter what. Tomorrow is a day gane, I suspect after we win tonight, Riley will be off tomorrow too.1 point

There's nothing more fun in sports than watching a young team work their way up, improve and start to win.1 point

I don’t care about making the playoffs. If it happens great, if it doesn’t great. I think the drama of seeing the young guys coming up in the system is more rewarding than anything else I’ve seen for a long time. Just plain baseball is enough for me. I know for a lot of people this is just vanilla and I get that. But there are some really exotic versions of vanilla and for me this is one of them.1 point

It is weird they are playing better after the deadline but that's probably just chance rather than coincidence. I have no regrets and still think Harris made the right decision but the Monday morning quarterbacks will be out in force without a doubt sooner or later.1 point

My gut tells me the Hong defeat in Wisconsin is critical because Wisconsin will be an important race in 2028. A Dem governor there is critical to fighting the facacta GOP efforts to steal that state in the EC.1 point

That's why I think I'd be surprised to see him moved. His skills are tantalizing but never quite fully present. I would think he'd end up with a team that values narrative over analytics. Who among the Angels, Nationals, Rockies, or Marlins wouldn't leap at the chance to bring a former 1-1 aboard?1 point
-
If all this transpired it might be fine, although I would hate seeing us sell so low on Tork. But if we have to move him this winter, it can’t be helped. I think I’d be surprised if the Tiger dump Tork this winter in favor of a kid who likely will not have even debuted.1 point

Jake should be able to extend his MLB career for several more seasons if he's willing to be a back-up on crap teams. Otherwise, he'll probably be coaching in the Tigers system before too long.1 point

I think the idea was to save Holton for a higher leverage situation - eg maybe tomorrow. The 4 run lead was the right time to send out Finnegan and Jansen but it almost wasn't enough. Maybe Hinch should plan on only using one of them on a given night night no matter what the lead!1 point

What on earth makes Hinch think this is going to get any better?1 point

Their time was pretty limited. And yes that was a team decision. And let's be real, no broadcast team is going to grill or be confrontational with someone from the front office of the team they cover. Easy to be a tough guy here but if Harris was signing your paycheck you'd be sweet as pie too.1 point

Aes isnt DSA so that litetature wouldn't be relevant. He also isnt a socialist so that wouldnt be relevant either. Hes quite progressive for sure so perhaps progressives in purple states would be apt. Maybe those who support Medicare for All would be even more apt. Endorsed by Bernie in the primaries might also work.1 point
