You couldve legit handed somebody that knew nothing about baseball the list of players in each teams system that was available to us in each trade, then told them to randomly pick names from that list and I can almost guarantee we wouldve ended up getting a better return on the trades than Avila got.

Stafford in concussion protocol and may miss Sundays game with the Cardinals. That's one of the games you expect them to win with a healthy Stafford so if he misses that game and they lose that's a pretty big bonus for us.

For starters cause pitchers are ticking time bombs for another is that you have to give something of value to get something. Sure it would be nice to trade all our mediocre 40 grade prospects for a proven commodity but that's not realistic. To get a good to great young veteran its going to take a premium prospect.

So Buddha tells us how you really feel about UM's schedule? Lol

Pope Morosi and Beck speculate that the Tigers could be interested in Wilson Contreras. Defense leaves alot to be desired to say the least and he turns 31 in May but the offense would definitely be a welcome sight.

With the Reich firing the annual Harbaugh going back to the NFL rumors has started early. Even if he does want to go back to the NFL and has ties with the Colts I just don't think that would be the job he'd leave Ann Arbor for. Considering his pedigree he should have his pick of the litter when it comes to NFL jobs and surely there will be a more attractive opening come up.

Frank Reich officially canned.

Week Nine: Green Bay Packers (3-5) @ Detroit Lions (1-6)
RandyMarsh replied to MichiganCardinal's topic in Detroit Lions
Him and Walker could be a great pair next season. -
Here's the guys that declined options and became FA today.

Probably nobody outside of Correa that we'd likely go after but here's the guys that declined options and became FA this morning. Whoops wrong thread meant to post this in the offseason one.

Yeah a matter of time before SGA gets "injured" and is out for a while. -
Week Ten: Detroit Lions (2-6) @ Chicago Bears (3-6)

Big game as 3rd or possibly even 2nd place depending on what the pack do is on the line in this one. Box score scouting only it appears that Fields may have had his best game of his career yesterday mainly due to his feet of course since his average pass attempt only yielded 6.5 yards. Despite his passing struggles if he is running well he could pose a problem for us. -
I think the schedule thing is completely overblown, yeah it sucks but unless you schedule an elite team in the non conference it shouldn't matter if you beat up on a cupcake or against a mid tier power 5 team like we did with Washington last year. Theyre still games you're going to win at a 90%+ rate. I mean let's say they kept UCLA on the schedule yeah they are good this year but most years they are mediocre and would be like beating another Purdue or Indiana. Is playing one more again against a team like that and winning that big of deal?

I was reading Law's chat from last week and somebody asked him if he thinks Harris could turn it around and he said he heard good things about him but brought up how inept our previous regime was and said something to the effect of "Im concerned that he kept so much of the previous regime giving their struggles" I thought that was odd cause it seems like he's made a bunch of new hires and got rid of folks like Chadd who have been here for a while. He kept Garko and of course Hinch but I don't think those guys are who he is referring to when talking about the previous regime. Did Harris just keep a bunch of lesser known guys which is what Law is referring to or is he just off base here cause you know he hates the Tigers and all. 🙂

Not sure if posted but the Tigers hired a new assistant pitching coach.
-
Ditto. Some may question the Miggy choice since he didn't bring the Tigers a championship nor did he start his career here but he has been here for the vast majority of his career and while not bringing home a championship he was part of a half decade of strong teams which hadnt been done here in over 20 years at that point. Individually he was the rare Tiger that at one point was considered the very best player in the game, even if it was for a brief period of time. Also at his peak no Tiger outside of Cobb was as good as him.
-
I think I'd go the same but it's still a toss up for me between UM/OSU, yeah OSU looked like crap today but their ND win looks a little bit better so that may offset things. They also beat PSU on the road albeit in a less dominating fashion then UM did.
-
I hate Kelly but God Damn did he have some massive balls there and I agree I thought it was the right call even before the play. I'd take my chances of my offense gaining 3 yards then having to stop Young and score again yourself.
-
I love how Donovan Edwards has been patient and waiting for the blocks to open up instead of just going full speed ahead as soon as he gets the handoff.
-
Alvarez is such a beast and is just one of the more intimidating batters at the plate for me in recent memory. Like he just looks like he is going to destroy the ball every at bat, get major David Ortiz vibes with him.
-
Seeing Framber Alvarez dominate this game and this season along with Christian Javier and of course Yordan Alvarez makes you shake your head at the Verlander trade even more. All 3 of those guys were in the Astros system at the time of the trade all 3 certainly could've been had if we asked as they were ranked below Perez and in some outlets Cameron as well yet we ended up with what we did.
-
That is atleast the third time that the announcers or graphic didn't mention the flag until after the play was done. Bush League BTN!
-
Moody misses his 2nd field goal as UM goes into the half trailing 17-14. Missed 2 FGs, botched punt snap for a TD, a couple missed tackles that led to big gains and missed throws by JJ. Oh yeah also needed 4 downs twice inside the 5 for their 2 scores. Other than that they haven't played that bad.
-
Jalen Carter is an absolute beast, the Lions probably will be going QB with their first pick but if for some reason they don't he would look damn nice lined up with Hutch.

Speaking of former player or manager's kids I often wondered what happened to Victor Jr. He has to be close to the age where he would be on team's radar you think unless he just didn't turn into the prodigy that he looked like as a little kid. edit: decided to google him again and came across this profile. I remember googling him a couple years ago and I couldn't find anything. https://www.perfectgame.org/players/playerprofile.aspx?ID=525152 Looks like he has his Dad's wheels for sure.
