The Twins could potentially contend with CWS or for a wild card but they also could finish 4th or 5th. They essentially replaced Donaldson and Simmons with Urshela and Correa, that could be a 4 or 5 win upgrade if Correa stays healthy and plays at his best but if he doesn't then it really won't be too big of upgrade over what they got last year. They also replaced Garver with Sanchez at catcher which I think is a downgrade of atleast 1 win considering how atrocious Sanchez is behind the plate. He has a higher ceiling offensively though and if he could somehow turn back the clock to how he hit his first couple years than he could be a big addition for them but we shall see. The other big move they made was getting Sonny Gray. Yeah he's a good get but you have to keep in mind that they got 4 months of great Berrios pitching last year that they won't get this year so he may not even offset that. Ultimately though I think for them it's going to come down to Buxton's health and the development of some of their younger guys like Kiriloff. The past several years they are a completely different team when Buxton plays, he's a top 5ish all around position player when healthy but unfortunately he hasnt shown the ability to stay on the field. For Minny's sake if they do have aspirations of the playoffs he's probably going to have to cause I just don't see enough upgrades over last year for them to make that jump otherwise but regardless kudos for them for atleast trying and immediately reallocating the money they saved on Donaldson to use on Correa.

Shocker Carlos Correa to the Twins! 3/105 with opt out after 2 years. I'm just at a loss of words that the Twins signed him and he agreed to that little of guarantee money.

I like this method as well, even though I would've loved to trade for a premium pitcher I just don't know if would be wise to trade one of our top prospects or young cost controlled guys at this point. Assuming we don't go sign Correa or Story we're probably going to need alot of things to go right to have a legit chance of making the playoffs, I would hate to mortgage the future with the expectation that we are going to be contenders only for the things we need to happen not come to fruition so we end up being a mid 70s to .500 team. I'd rather see if guys like Mize and Skubal progress, Baddoo shows he wasn't a fluke, Greene and Tork make immediate impacts etc. before making a drastic move. If June or July comes and all those things happen and we are right in the thick of things we could always make a more drastic move then.

MLBtraderumors says that we are indeed signing Michael Pineda.

Honestly as big of proponent as I was against it at this point I may lean towards taking Willis at 2 and hoping we strike gold.

Btw Verlander made his return today against the Cardinals. Threw 2 scoreless innings with a pair of ks. FB averaged 94.7 and topped out at 95.8.

I think it's a great trade for Cleveland, def some risk of course given his off the field stuff but when you're in the position they are in by having good players at key positions but in qb purgatory you gotta take a chance like this.

Yeah me neither, I'm half kidding but maybe the guy thought Birkett meant that he wanted to talk to Hutch but with everything going on "he wasn't gonna make it to him" in that sense? Grasping at straws I know.

I look at owning team like you owning a house that all but guarantees to multiply in value every few years and renting it out to pay the mortgage. If your mortgage is 2K a month and you charge 1500 in rent, sure you're going to be losing 6K a year but you're making 10x more than that in equity in this scenario. Same with owning sports teams, even if they lose money on the bottom line the equity they gain more than makes up for it.

With the amount of draft capital that I imagine Atlanta would have to part with for Watson I don't think they would use what little draft picks they will have left in the coming years on a likely backup QB for them.

Sending out the big guns for the first spring training game.
-
Watson turned down Carolina so it's down to Atlanta and NO. I wonder if he goes to NO if Payton will decide to come back?
-
Not to completely downplay the impact of receivers but this shows that even the best don't make the impact on W/L that most other positions do, particularly when you have a great QB.

Pistons now move 1.5 up(or back depending on how you view it) of the Magic for the 2nd worst record in the league. Currently they are 1.5 back of Orlando and Houston but Houston is percentage points worse than Orlando. OKC is a 1.5 back of us in the 4th spot. We're 4 back of Indy at 5th spot so barring something crazy we should be no worse than 4th at the time of the lottery which gives you a 48.1 chance at top 4 pick and 12.5 at number 1. For reminder the top 3 all have 52.1 at getting top 4 pick and 14% at 1. https://www.tankathon.com/ -

Magic foul Bey with 10 seconds and Bey makes both FTs to finish with 51 to go with 10 boards. Helluva game!! -

Bey with 49 now on 10 3s with a minute left. Pistons just had a 3 on 1 fast break with Bey trailing, if only Bagley dumped it off to him for the bunny, instead Bagley kept it himself and drew the foul. -

Bagley in 9 games since the break is averaging 16 and 9 on 58% shooting(62% on 2s). BTW Bey now with 44, almost 47 but his last 3 was taken away on a moving screen. -
https://www.mlb.com/prospects/2022/top100/ New pipeline top 100 with Witt at number 1. No surprise but Tork, Greene and Jobe are the only Tigers to make the list at 4, 5 and 40 respectively.

Must win!

Packers are getting the Raiders 1st and 2nd in this draft. May not be good news if you're in the WR at 32 camp cause I wouldn't be surprised if GB doubles up on WRs with their 2 1st rounders.

Bey with 31 in the first half. That's gotta be close to a Pistons record for a half I would assume.
