Oh, I agree. He's very inconsistent. We'll know what we have by the end of next season. I'm just not sure it's time to run him out of town yet.

Agreed, I would say there is clearly a difference when Greene is in the lineup and when he is not.

On the other hand, he hasn't had a .700 OPS since 2018.

But at least he has a record as a decent fielder. Tigers have been giving away too many outs at 3rd all season no matter who has been there.

Camargo?  He's not much, but he can play third and has a decent track record: .723 OPS in over 1,300 major league plate appearances.

His OPS would be top 3 on this team.  I would have preferred him over Nevin.  Maybe a 40 man issue?  We already have a crunch coming with Manning and Skubal’s imminent return from the 60-day DL.

Any team carrying Schoop doesn't really have a 40 man problem.

With Manning, Skubal and E-Rod coming back I am curious what the remaining rotation will look like. I am guessing after the trade deadline it'll be less of a worry but Boyd, Lorenzen probably have the last two spots there so that means Olson and Wentz either get sent to Toledo until then or to the BP. Brieske also coming back and hopping in the BP is going to make for some interesting times for deck chairs. Wonder if they will leave him in Toledo until they trade Cisnero or some other relievers or send down White.

He wasn't a rule 5 pick. Drafted by the Tigers in the 19th round in '19. Guy came outta nowhere last season.

I know.  I just want the head bands.

Nevin isn’t the answer. He tempts you with his performance at AAA, but it doesn’t translate to the bigs.

Please bring up Lipcius or Camargo.

Kinda gotta see if there's anything there at some point, right?  Or maybe they already know and it ain't good.  But even if that's the case, he's still on the 40. so what's the point of keeping him on the 40 if they know it ain't good?

wentz is only on the team because everyone else is hurt.

Manning replaces Wentz, Brieske replaces White. The interesting question is who does Skubal bump? Probably Olson, but maybe Olson goes to the pen and bumps someone else there.

They are being dishonest with the fanbase if they are calling up Nevin instead Meadows/Lipcius/anyone else.

Either they don't think like prospects from the previous regime or they don't want to make the major league team even a bit better. There is no logical reason to run it back with Nevin for the 3rd time in 3 months.

Or they want to avoid the TORK! mistake and let these kids sufficiently develop before exposing them to major league pitching on an everyday basis.

Camargo seems the logical choice. He's not a devlopment project, he's a replacement level journeyman. He looks like he might be in the McKinstry mode - he's not going to be a big help but maybe a guy who is competent enough at the game not to hurt you either. They picked him up for exactly this situation (disaster insurance at 3B)  so it would seem dumb not to use him.

Lipcius is the other option  - less good. He's at the 'do or die' point in his career. No power but he can walk a little, but the glove may not play in the majors, and particularly not at 3rd, which is where they need the help.

Agree—they did not pick up Camargo for system depth. They picked him up because they need experienced major leaguers to throw onto the field while the prospects, including Lipcius, are still marinating in the kitchen. That was the idea behind getting Marisnick et al as well.

And the thing is, with Kreidler down for the count, there isn't anyone in the system close at 3b anyway. They are basically waiting for Keith, even assuming he can stay at 3B. But of course if they do see Keith as close enough to make the majors next year, that might inhibit them from maing a trade or FA acquisiiton to fill the position - which would probably turn out to be a mistake.

They promoted Keith to Toledo. Who gets 3rd base playing time there, him or Maton?

Maton is a 2B.  They just plugged him at 3B some times cause that’s what we do.

EDIT: sorry, meant Mayton
