The owners keep trying to add something new every time. "I guess we could add more money for that but you have to wash our cars every weekend."

Where did that come from? If that's something you wanted, why wasn't it in the discussion from the very beginning? It looked like things could have been settled by now if they didn't keep trying to add something which hasn't been discussed. Then the players have to take time for all of them to get on the same page for the new item.

I thought they were close but the owners keep changing the fine print and that is very shady on their part.

This is from four days ago.

Is today the day?

until the owners find some other small thing to quibble about, then they will wait until next week to counter, when the players come back with another offer, they will cancel more April games, then the next morning agree to pretty much what the players countered with....

Wouldn't they have to cancel April games anyway under the guise of "spring training"?

if this gets resolved soon, everything will be forgiven/forgotten by the fans.  It's still only Spring Training, and an April delay to the start of games will not mean much (especially since attendance is already light, after Opening Day).  The transaction frenzy that will take place over the next few weeks will be unrivaled (even greater than the old GM winter meetings when trades actually happened).  So many elite players that will need to sign quickly will create a ton of news and excitement, mitigating any current bad taste fans have.  MLBRumors.com will likely crash multiple times over the next few weeks.

Well, sure, MLB negotiators want the lawsuit dropped. Baseball wants nothing to do with enforcing the letter of the law stipulating that revenue sharing money be spent “in an effort to improve its performance on the field," for reasons not the least of which is that by keeping that money out of the player market, it keeps player market costs down for everyone.

Damn straight I will move on.  What the bleep should any fan care about how these guys divide up these billions?  I am just amazed at how some good people can insist that there exists a kind of moral agency on the part of fans to defend the interests of ballplayers, like they are starving waifs or refugees or the princess from the Kingsmen movie.
