I can’t look this up now but have the Tigers ever had 3 ASG starters, along with possibly Skubal?

They showed 2007 on the broadcast.

Pudge, Polanco and Magglio. Also Verlander and Guillen.

Yep.  All were great stories, too

Mark Fydrich Signed 1977 Detroit Tigers Yearbook - JSA - Tigers Phenom The Bird - Picture 1 of 4

I remember the 1977 Yearbook with the 3 big stars on the cover.  My dad's printing company, Superior Color printed SOME of the yearbooks and all the daily programs because they were literally directly across the freeway,  right by the pedestrian bridge.

First time I really paid attention to baseball closely.  10 years old and nothing was more important to me than the pre-game introductions.  Hooked ever since.

Somewhere in my "archives" I have that yearbook and some others from the 70s and 80's.

I also have Fidrych and LeFlore RC cola cans...

Looks like in 1961 the Tigers had Bunning, Cash, Colavito and Kaline all starting one of the AS games.  In fact, the three Tigers batted 1-2-3 in the lineup that game.  Colavito's HR provided the AL only run and Kaline had 2 of the 4 AL hits.

In 1971 they had two starters...Freehan and Cash...neither of whom were elected to start.  C Ray Fosse won the voting but couldn't play due to injury..as did 1b Boog Powell.  Kaline and Lolich also made the team as reserves

In 76' Jason Thompson hit like 16 homers in a couple months the second half of the season and 31 in 77'. I was sitting along the 1st base line and saw him and Ben Olglivie hit balls foul but over the roof down the right field line. I think Ben got robbed too.

I wonder at the start of the year what the odds would've been on Javy being the starting OF in the All Star Game?

I thought it was comical he was the starting SS when it was announced he was starting in the OF. Thats gotta be some kind of first.

I thought that was the game where Pete Rose collided into Fosse, causing a neck injury?

1970. 1971 was the Reggie Jackson roof tower shot at Tiger stadium and all the HoF hitters many who hit homers that game.

Before last year we went about a decade where are only All Stars were the token team reps so getting 4 potential starters all of whom are worthy is certainly nice to see. Definitely makes me more interested to watch the game for a change.

There’s something magical about the pregame introductions of all stars on the baselines.
