This is why Hinch resting everyone on Sunday (even after Cleveland fell behind) made no sense. He was conceding to having all three games in Cleveland rather than try to have them at home. In the end Cleveland won Sunday, so it didn't matter. To not even try though was nonsensical. You can hold Skubal back, but all the regulars should have played, especially with the guaranteed off day on Monday. Quote

chasfh Posted October 2 Posted October 2 It was somewhat defensible to give us a two-hour exclusivity window when there were four games, but what’s the big idea of giving us a two-hour exclusivity window today? Why not start us at 2pm? Do they want people to bail on the end of our game for the Cubs game? 1 Quote

Same as it has been for close to a month now. Not making moves at the deadline helped ruin this season. Keeping the best overall record should have been the goal, not backing into the last playoff spot. Quote
Motor City Sonics Posted October 2 Posted October 2 I'll make sure to play Centerfield by John Fogerty at the start of my on-air shift. It worked on Tuesday. Maybe that's the answer. 3 Quote

Who was out there that was an upgrade and what would it have cost? I personally think Harris was in a tough place there to make any changes offensively and decided the best course of action was to ride the horses that built your lead there. Now looking back on it sure should we have made changes, probably. The problem with our offense now isn’t the players that were over performing to their careers. The biggest problem is our better players who would’ve never been replaced anyway simply aren’t performing even at replacement level for over a month now. 1 1 Quote

roarintiger1 Posted October 2 Posted October 2 (edited) Please only use Perez as a defensive replacement today.................... You know the squirrel thing. But if you expect him to somehow find a nut today you would probably be wrong. Edited October 2 by roarintiger1 Quote

We've had a gaping hole at 3B all season, no matter if you are/were a McKinstry/Colt believer or not. And there were certainly third basemen that were available (some moved, some didn't). Personally I also believed that Baez was not sustainable, since he has a plenty long track record. I can understand though why that would have been more difficult to do, given the changes he made defensively and in his role without complaint. That said, there were other teams (Seattle, for one) that identified their needs, and went and did something about it. (The Yankees also did this, but with not great results.) The Tigers decided not to, and are paying the price for it today. 1 Quote
