The fact that we used Flaherty before Kahnle, Hurter, Hanifee, and R Montero tells me that none of those 4 need to be on the roster next year.

I don’t know what changes you can make to this team to fix things.

No one hitter will fix the lineup. It’s completely broken. Maybe a magician hitting coach could fix it, but over 162+ games, I doubt it.

Feels like they are going to need to blow things up before it fixes itself. Which means 10+ years before a contender.

Hinch's confidence in Kanhle and Holton down the stretch has been misplaced for some time now, but he decided they were his guys.

So, I'm just sitting here thinking that It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone. You count on it, rely on it to buffer the passage of time, to keep the memory of sunshine and high skies alive, and then just when the days are all twilight, when you need it most, it stops.

I dunno, just a thought I came up with right off the top of my head.

I wouldn't be all doom and gloom about next season.  This was 2009.  A bitter failure with a team that simply could not hit except for a couple of bats who could sometimes hit.   Got to make those moves though.  This team has expectations.

Somewhere along the line the team that Harris thought he wanted to build has turned into a team that doesn't do any of the things he thought he was building it to do. 

I wonder if Harris will roll some heads on the staff or just blame the players and stand pat organizationally.

I actually feel better about our pitching going into 2026 than I do   the offense....unless Anderson, McGonigle and lark get here sooner than later

That 2009 team was better. Verlander also could give you more than 100 pitches.

If either of these teams had a playoff heartbeat, this game is over in 11. Simple as that.

Hard to see the Mariners advance. Neither team deserved to.

Verlander is the comp to Skubal.  Porcello is the comp to Jobe.  Edwin Jackson is the comp to Flaherty.   

Reese Olson and Casey Mize probably have no comps on the 2009 team.   I would guess your comp to Dontrelle Willis is... ?

I'm going to be the guy and ask this question. How do people think this series and the end of this season would have turned out if Scott Harris had been aggressive at the trade deadline and made a move to get a bat in the lineup?

yes - he is their only position player who has played at All-star level for his position.

Harris whiffed on Maeda, Cobb, Paddack and Morton. He has to do better with the rotation.

It is a little weird. The hitting has been a disaster for 2 months but you look into the horizon and long term it's still the pitching that's the bigger set of red flags.
