kdog Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Based on projected starters/no rainouts, the Tigers will not face a right handed starting pitcher in the first 6 games. Rainouts in SD are unlikely; AZ has a dome. Quote

Because of this national assignment, Dan Dickerson is expected to handle the play-by-play for the Tigers' season opener against the San Diego Padres earlier that afternoon. That's OK by me. Quote

kdog Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago (edited) i meant left handed...trying to figure out how much time Baez and Vierling will get in the first set of games. Edited 6 hours ago by kdog 1 Quote
kdog Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago (edited) Keith at DH, Baez at SS. Edited 5 hours ago by kdog Quote
lordstanley Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Game is on MLB Network so I will be able to watch. Maybe already mentioned this spring, but price of MLB At Bat has doubled. Those gripping oppo taco commercials must have driven higher demand! I might stick with my Sirius XM subscription because it has audio for all Tigers, Wings, Pistons and Lions games but the problem is it lags by a minute or two, worse than At Bat. Quote
romad1 Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago So, Kerry Carpenter leadoff. That feels experimenty. Quote

Tenacious D Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago I don’t get Carpenter hitting leadoff. Doesn’t walk much, one of your bigger power threats. Would not be shocked to see he and McGonigle swap spots once Kevin build up some AB’s and confidence. Quote

Atleast that’s the only thing I can think of for the reason. Quote

Forces a 3rd tto decision for the opposing manager, or at least that is what Hinch said when he started doing it in the Playoffs. I am surprised so many people are shocked by this or don't remember the playoffs. Quote

I need to find the article on BP that talked about the Tigers platooning their defense based on the pitcher's batted ball tendencies. A LH starter seems to make more sense to have a strong left side of the infield, while you can get by with Carpenter in right. I am going to be curious to see how this plays out when they go to the pen. Quote

Another thing to watch for is what they do with Valdez on the mound with his extreme ground ball tendencies. I think this kind of thing can be overdone, but I mostly trust Hinch to have enough knowledge of his players to keep a balance Edited 2 hours ago by Tiger337 Quote
IdahoBert Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago How far before the actual game does the pregame begin? From last year, I don’t really remember. Quote

At 3:10 PM EDT the Padres pregame show has already started but not ours, however, they are the host team so that makes sense. EDIT- I just checked Google AI mode on my phone and it said the Tigers’ pregame show begins at 3:30 PM EDT. I guess we’ll see how accurate this is. Quote
