Starting to see mocks with Georgia's Trayvon Walker leapfrogging Thibodeaux as the 2nd edge off the board...is Thibs freaking people out that badly...or did Walker just test REALLY well.   Malik Willis at #2 smacks of the FOMO effect Leaf has talked about.  I hope it's a smoke screen to spur interest in a trade down

Still many clickbait mocks at this point.  No editor wants to see essentially the same mock every single week.  These guys all are trying to stay fresh knowing that the only mock that counts on the record is their last one.    If we get to the final mocks on draft week and Thibs is still slipping then I will pay attention.

McShay has us taking Hamilton in his latest mock. Said the 40 time doesn't bother him cause he plays faster than that and all his other measurements stood out well.  Also has us taking Boye Mafe OLB from Minnesota with the 32nd pick, says his game is raw but has one of the fastest takeoffs he has seen from anybody in this class. Could be a potential steal at 32....or a potential disaster.

Even though Ive been on the wait till next year to draft a qb train I wouldn't be terribly upset with Wilis at 2 cause I don't love any of the other guys.

He obviously has the highest reward of any player we could draft so between that and the lack of a clear star player in the draft this wouldn't be the worst time to swing for the fences.

My biggest fear though is potentially passing on a better available qb next year cause we used one on a guy this year.

I think Willis has a higher ceiling than any QB available next year, but he's also a little risky. I think it would mitigate the risk by having him sit for at least a year.

Yeah barring injury or Goff playing like an absolute disaster I would assume he sits all next year which is both a plus but also can be a minus though if he doesnt pan out.

Reason being is that instead of knowing immediately he isn't the guy like the Cards did with Rosen you are now tied atleast 2 years before you know with the more likely outcome being 3 or 4.

One thing I will say though is after thinking about it if we do draft a qb it better be at 2 and not 32. Assuming somebody doesn't trade with Jax you are guaranteed to get your number 1 QB at 2 whereas at 32 you may only get your 4th or 5th guy. QB is way too important of position to settle for your 4th or 5th option.

Essentially it is choosing between getting your number 1 QB and say possibly 5th ranked pass rusher at 32 or taking your number 1 pass rusher at 2 and taking your 4th or 5th ranked qb at 32. I much prefer the first outcome.

Yeah, I guess I'd agree with that.... going in if they are of the opinion that they MUST get a QB in the first round... use the first pick for it.

However, I strongly hope that they are NOT going into the draft thinking that they MUST get a QB in the first round.  Locking yourself into a situation like that is how you end up losing the draft.   I can foresee a situation where they take Hutch or Thib at 2... and then like the 3rd best QB falls to 32 and they grab him, not because they MUST have a QB in the 1st but rather because they're surprised he fell there and he's the best option to help the team.

I have never told somoene once, ever, to change the content of a piece to get more clicks.

Just for fun I wanted to do a mock to see what it could possibly be like if we did take Willis(or whatever QB of their choosing) at 2 and this is how it turned out.  None of the top tier WR were available at 32 so I figure just double up on pass rushing to make up for not taking one with the 2nd pick.  Also despite the F grade I would love to get Watson in the 3rd if we end up not getting a WR before then.

Both. Walker blew up the combine, especially with the drills imo.
