again, i dont get the anger at campbell. this team has ZERO ability to pass the ball. none. they have no receivers and one of the worst qbs in football. other teams know that. and still, they came in and ran the ball all over a really good steelers defense. even with zero passing. they got decker back and used nelson as a 6th olineman/tight end. the whole team is one dimensional and they still rushed for over 200 yards. that's a good thing. this team has zero talent and lost some of its better players to injury again today. it was a good effort in horrible conditions. my only quibble is still playing goff. not because he was somehow to hurt to throw downfield, but rather because he is just incapable of playing qb at an nfl level anymore. if boyle is remotely healthy, he HAS to play. has to. goff just isnt an nfl player anymore.4 points

I approve of this signing. It sounds like just about everyone else does too.3 points

Why would he leave? Does he want to get beat?2 points

I guess assistant pitching coach Juan Nieves was Rodriguez's pitching coach when he broke into the majors and they've always had a good relationship so that's probably a big reason why he chose here over other potential destinations.2 points

Trading for and signing frontline starters during the offseason. I had forgotten what that felt like. It's fun!2 points

In 2019, Blough was 0-5 with a 54% completion, more INTs than TDs, and had actual NFL caliber receivers. What am I missing here?2 points

Fascists. Watching history repeat itself. And it didn’t even take a century to do so. Humanity didn’t learn its lesson. Shame on us.2 points

IDK - not so much. He's a left hand hitting catcher. Even if all goes perfectly well with Jake (or Dingler) having a L/R catching combo is an ideal situation. Nobody gets overworked and since Jake and/or Dingler aren't too expensive it may not bother them to spend a little on Barnhardt's side of the platoon.1 point

I'm going to surprise her with the trip. I had casually mentioned going to see them that weekend and she said "yeah, sounds good". I worked out arrangements with my other son and mother in law to take care of my other son that weekend. Hotel wasn't expensive at all and I got the flights for free with my miles. Definitely go to the museum as when we came there before with the kids that wasn't something they wanted to do. Will spring it on her Friday morning to pack up, our flight leaves at 1. Masks don't bother us at all. Was just curious on the situation there. Sounds like it's stricter there than here in MI.1 point

There were some issues with the migration and the change in nameservers... I'm still trying to resolve all of that with my hosting company to make sure things are correctly setup. It is quite possible that the issue you are experiencing is related to that, so I apologize. I hope to get an all clear later today that everything is working fine, so if you still have the issue after that, we'll begin to troubleshoot it. Your phone and computer are probably pulling the site from different places, so one may have the correct nameservers and the other may not.1 point

Lorenzen could be a guy to look at; should not cost too much; he wants to start; has premium velocity; some seasons with interesting numbers; if he can't get it done, move him back to BP; and they could reassess Fulmer as well1 point

I think they'll go after one more--at this point, they should not count on Manning. Obviously, losing both Turnbull and Boyd will require them to pursue another veteran, though it could be a Wily Peralta-type. I doubt they give anyone more than one year.1 point

Yep. And it makes sense from teh Tigers prespective, by that time you hope the big 3 are chugging along and its like ok let's roll with cheap pitcher A in his spot. If you like the depth you can resign E-Rod, If he goes elsewhere you either got another $15 million free or you just invest in that year's version of E-Rod.1 point

FG 13. Eduardo Rodriguez*, SP, Age 29 Contract Estimate Type Years AAV Total Ben Clemens 4 $20.0 M $80.0 M Median Crowdsource 4 $18.0 M $72.0 M Avg Crowdsource 3.81 $18.2 M $69.3 M 2022 Steamer Projections IP BB% K% GB% ERA FIP xFIP WAR RA9-WAR 185.0 7.8% 26.2% 44.4% 3.65 3.68 3.72 3.7 3.8 Ben’s Take Good pitching is hard to come by. You can’t always check every box, which is why teams will back up a truck full of money for Rodriguez despite his 4.74 ERA in 2021. He was wildly unlucky on batted balls, allowing the second-highest BABIP in baseball. If you think Rodriguez will be less snakebitten next year, there’s a lot to like. Aside from a health scare that caused him to miss the 2020 season, he’s rarely missed a turn, making 31 starts this season and 34 in 2019. He doesn’t always give you great length — this year’s 31 starts covered only 157.2 innings — but turn a few more batted balls into outs, and the length could appear out of nowhere. Of the top 25 free agents, Rodriguez might be the least decorated — but he also might be the best bargain for a contender who believes in his peripherals. Player Notes Rodriguez missed the entire 2020 season due to myocarditis stemming from COVID-19 but came back to log 157.2 innings of roughly league-average run prevention in ‘21. His strikeout and walk rates were both career bests, however, and he ended up setting a career high in WAR as a result. A .363 BABIP allowed, in combination with a career-low 68.9% strand rate, oddly yielded a career-high ERA, despite everything else being seemingly very solid. A lot of these woes were mostly relegated to the first half, including a horrid May that saw him allow 24 runs in 29.2 innings; from August 1 through the end of the season, on the other hand, Rodriguez pitched to a 3.26 ERA and produced 1.7 WAR. Overall, Rodriguez isn’t a frontline starter, but he’s the type of pitcher who will do many things slightly better than league-average, culminating in a productive arm pretty much every season. At just 28, Rodriguez also has the distinction of being the youngest starting pitcher on our top 50, perhaps suggesting that he is among the likeliest candidates to receive a longer-term deal if he wants it, even though he may not be one of the flashiest names on this list.1 point

This story... I also want to know why Flynn's brother was at the Pentagon ops center on Jan 6 and what his (in)actions might have caused to spin out of control. Why is Flynn's brother still on active duty at USINDOPACOM?1 point

I know there has been an assumption from some that Cunningham and Hayes cannot coexist in the same backcourt. I want to see what plays out. And to your point that Hayes hasn't played a half season yet, we're a month into this season and Cunningham is just kind getting the feel of the game due to the time he lost. I'm for patience on the backcourt development.1 point

Killian has been improving all season. You probably don't see it if you just watch the box scores, but he's giving me a little hope. His defense was already solid and continues to impress me more and more. He's also shooting a team high 43.3% from three this year (yes, you read that right). He's a solid passer and he'll get you a few rebounds from the guard spot as well. And let's not forget that he hasn't played even half a season of NBA ball yet in his career. I have no idea what this kid will become, but if he can continue to improve in this way, then I see no reason he can't be a solid backcourt compliment to Cade. A number of guys found themselves again in this game, which was good to see. Bey found his 3pt shot and had an all-around solid game. Beef Stew was killing it inside by getting open after guard penetration. Josh Jackson gives me Sheed flashbacks in a way. One second he's making you cheer with an awesome block and two second later he's making you pull out your hair with a careless turnover at the absolute worst time. Oh, and since it's been a day or two since I've said it: CoJo needs to sit on the bench and be a locker room guy. Play Saben or stagger the minutes better with Cade and Killian by taking one out early and then subbing him for the other one (stop playing two groups of five, Casey!). Either way, I don't need to see CoJo pounding the air out of the ball. I'd rather watch someone who has a chance to develop than watch someone who's terrible and has no chance to develop into anything other than what he is. We can say that the G League is garbage, but Jalen Green got drafted second overall by averaging 18ppg in the G League. How many is Saben averaging again? Oh yeah, 38ppg. And even if you want to say that it doesn't matter, the 51% from 3pt range on 9 attempts per game absolutely does matter. Bring him up and play him. Sit CoJo.1 point

the lions dont have to draft a qb next year. however, jared goff cannot be their starting qb going into next season. sign marcus mariota. sign jameis. sign some stop gap player. but it cannot be goff. goff is at the point where he's not even a viable nfl backup qb anymore. he is god awful. they cannot go with goff next season in any capacity, i dont care what the cap hit is, he has to be cut.1 point

This is exactly how I felt before the season. I thought he was better than he has turned out to be. Not sure what happened but this guy has lost it. He has regressed to a point that he’s not a capable starting NFL QB. He is completely immobile in the pocket. He may be the biggest statue in the league back there. He has a hard time holding the ball when hit and fumbles too often. He fails to look down the field at all and throws a very poor long ball in the few times that he has let it go. Even his accuracy on short balls that NFL qbs make 99% of the time have been suspect. He panics under pressure and makes terrible decisions in crunch time. The only positive thing is that his height makes it so that his passes are rarely deflected. This is not the same guy that took the Rams to the Super Bowl.1 point

Because Blough is worse than Goff. I guess we all forgot 2019 when Blough had Marvin Jones and Kenny Golladay and was still worse than Goff. I trust Campbell on the dynamics of the locker room. If Campbell thinks benching Goff in favor of an inferior QB will spark the team, than do it.1 point

because its pouring rain and JARED GOFF SUCKS! he looks exactly the same today as he always does. his throws are inaccurate. he holds the ball too long. he looks the same today as he has every other week this season. i dont see why his performance today gives you any indication that "oh, he's too hurt to throw" now when he always looks like this. the difference today is that they have had a lot of success running and its POURING RAIN. so run the damn ball. you just want another reason to bag on the coaches like you always do.1 point

the announcers. lol. ok. goff looks exactly the same as he has looked all year. i dont think he's too injured to throw, he just SUCKS!!!!1 point

Au contraire, I was first and among the loudest to brand our "rebuild" as a salary dump. I don't think there is anyone who has been more critical of this organization's determination to masquerade thrift as forward thinking. I've just reached the point where I've learned to laugh at it. Victor Reyes is the perfect antithesis to "drunken sailor" mentality. You just need to learn to accept that your priorities as a fan, and the priorities of those running this organization have marginal overlap. Once you get beyond that hurdle, the sting tends to go away. ☯️1 point

I'll give you that if he and UM were to part ways at the end of this season ( which at this point with 10 wins probable is highly unlikely) I'd put his chances of landing in the NFL is definitely better than another college gig. One thing he doesn't seem cut out for is a transition to broadcasting......1 point

If they signed all these players I would hope so. A few teams have proven lately a stacked line up doesn't equal success. The 84 team has a lot of good players but not a lot of great ones. They were able to play well together. Thats more important than a team full of all stars in my opinion1 point

Tony Paul of the Detroit News put out his list for top FAs and his predictions. He has the Tigers signing Correa, Verlander, Carlos Rodon and Andrew Miller. I'm gonna be disappointed when we inevitably only sign a couple third tier pitchers and trade assets for somebody's backup ss.1 point
