RINO clowns, GTFO. Both are more conservative than Trump. The scary part is, I don't think you're lying about what you're saying, I think you believe it. As your buddy Alex Jones likes to say "You're in the cult, bro!" I don't necessarily believe Trump calculated and planned out what happened. He's not smart enough to do that. But when his rhetoric stirred up folks to the point where they did do it, he chose not to defend America, but rather sit back and cheer on a bunch of lawless dipshits. Your president that you claim is 'America first' allowed the Capitol building to be attacked and did nothing. He's a seditious POS. Biden does suck. I even voted for him as I wanted an adult in charge and he's been slow to act on just about everything. I still have a country I can be proud of under Biden though, not a failed system which we would have had if Trump got his way. Additionally, you and every GOP member that backed Trump, you are just as liable for the issues going on today. Biden wouldn't have beaten a decent GOP candidate. But the GOP is to weak and chicken shit to check Trump and is happy to walk towards Fascism under him.6 points

This from the party that held seven meetings on Benghazi. Numerous investigations on Afghanistan. Fast and Furious, Solyndra, so called IRS targeting by Obama. Not to mention how many investigations into a supposed real estate scheme by the Clintons that did yield an impeachment count of lying under oath. Don't think for a minute any of the above investigations were bipartisan. Trump is leading you around like dogs. He's bilking you just like he did with Trump U. Third class products like Trump beef and Trump wine. Bad real estate deals, etc. And you have been way too stupid to realize it because he supposedly shares your prejudices. You are nothing to him but a cash cow, but you are really a lamb being lead to slaughter. When he's finished he'll toss you aside like filthy underwear.3 points

My dog Lucy was euthanized a couple days after I came home from the hospital (mid-May), … it’s been a sad few weeks…. But today, in the mail, I received a gift from a friend.. a framed photo of me & Lucy on a “road trip” that was just a week before. She had such a good day… so glad she got that adventure day (complete with a burger)- neither of us knew she’d be gone in a week.3 points

There are a lot of Democrats whining and pouting about not having their student debt canceled and having Biden's entire agenda passed so they will stay home. This should remind them they need to put their big boy pants on and votes.3 points

I'm going to paraphrase Jonathan V Last's comments in today's Bullwerk since his comments are behind their paywall. These hearing are on the Republican Party. They are what the Republicans chose because they refused to go along with a proposal to for an investigation similar to what the country had after 9/11 Imagine if the Republicans had followed through on the outrage that immediately followed 1/6. That that the Republican leadership had called for Trump's resignation. Or if he wouldn't resign voted for his impeachment and removal. If that had happened these hearings would not pose any danger to Republican leadership. The political danger would only adhere to Trump and his minions. Instead the Republicans chose to back Trump's coup attempt and instead oppose the consequences of their collective actions. They have spent the last 18 months making excuses or covering up his actions. The Republican Party owns these hearings. They are the ones that made it political because of their actions. As an aside, I'm old enough to remember when Republicans had enough balls to actually do the right thing. And take responsibility for the actions of a President whose supporters committed illegal acts.2 points

What do you mean "excuse"? Are you talking about laws and customs? That is where the problem exists. We don't excuse rapists, murderers, and cleptomaniacs because your God tells us we don't excuse them. We don't excuse them because they are committing crimes that exist outside the establishment or existence of any religion. I don't need a God, a Bible, a Koran, or any other religious teaching to tell me those things are wrong. Homosexuality is not a crime. It may be morally wrong according to your beliefs but your beliefs stay with you and nobody else has to abide by them.2 points

Dylan Cease has a mustache, and I noticed one of the Angels’ relievers last night does, too. It doesn’t look any better on them than it looked on us in the 1980s.2 points

I'm sure that is by design - they do not want these hearings to turn to business as usual as it would detract from their goals. To that end, Kevin McCarthy did them a big solid by pulling all of his picks off the panel... this exercise will be far more clear and functional without Jim Jordan up there yelling at the witnesses2 points

LBJ also did it knowing what the downside risk was politically.... he famously quipped to Hubert Humphrey after signing the CRA that they had signed away the South for a generation. It has taken longer than he expected, but outside of Georgia and (maybe) North Carolina and Texas, that's basically accurate. He was a man of his time, he did have friction with Civil Rights figures of the time, but on the whole he has to be admired for using his political skill to get that through. It tells me a lot about him deep down, as rough a figure as he is1 point

I get that. I used to somewhat be that way in my old days around here, so I certainly understand that style of posting he uses. One of my favorites from that time period was a thread I started bashing on Amtrak. I remember starting a whole thread about the failures of the Amtrak system simply so I could use that as broader conjecture to link the failings of an underfunded transit system to the broader system of government, trying to point out that because Amtrak had shortcomings that must mean all government programs are destined to fail or have done so already. I wasn't arguing facts or researched information and I wasn't living in the complex realities of the world we live in. Nor was I looking into the underpinnings of what Amtrak failed to live up to expectations.1 point

I found this very interesting... the 25 biggest lakes in the world put side-by-side: It comes from this page here: https://www.visualcapitalist.com/worlds-25-largest-lakes/ There's a bit of info about some of the lakes there, and also a few more very interesting pictures where they put the great lakes in other parts of the work to show the relative size: India, Europe, and Australia.1 point

I was thinking about what the Breakfast Club kids would be doing at this point Brian - Very successful career in computers, but unhappy. Alison - Once she got to college she met more people like her and wound up working at a record company Claire - Probably a twice-divorced alcoholic (like Bender predicted). Probably an HR manager. Bender - Works in construction, went through AA, no longer bitter, mentors others Andrew - Cop. All day long, Emilio Estevez character is a Cop. Those are the guys that become Cops.1 point

The vast majority of cops are good, but it isn't just the quality of the cops, it is the quality of the departments that employ them and the leadership therein. That is why the "blue line" flags and "back the blue" virtue signaling bothers me... one doesn't have to believe in defunding the police in order to believe that there are a lot of poorly run police departments out there that need reforming. Especially in a country the size of ours. Uvalde is one example, but there are others as well. But alas, it's "back the blue no matter who!" with a lot of folks.1 point

It's kind of pointless. Believers make God the most important thing in their lives and non-believers don't see him as real. So, there is no way of ever coming to an agreement. Still, I find these kinds of discussions interesting. I just don't get upset about it.1 point

The question was whether Jesus mentioned homosexuality. I know that many Christians believe that the Bible was dictated by God/Jesus, but some agnostic Christians see Jesus as a person separate from the Bible.1 point

That there about 500 things in Leviticus you can be put to death for - put fire in a censor in the wrong place? Yahweh's gonna roast you. If you want to strap your wagon that OT God that commanded his people to massacre civilians without mercy and dash the head of enemy infants on rocks, that personally sent an angel of death to destroy the lives of thousands of innocent Egyptian children, that prescribes casting lots to decide what is truth (Umin and Thummin anyone?), that wiped out a man's family for a boast to the Devil, you go for it. But don't tell me it has anything to do with Jesus. The OT is not anyone's inspired anything. It's a long historical pastiche and re-edited chronicle of one ancient people's understanding of themselves and their own history and who they thought God was. That's a lot, but it's nothing more that that. In the same way that the best an ancient vagabond population could understand a universe of quantum physics and general relativity was a creation story like Genesis, the best they could reflect of their moral world was the OT. It was a low bar.1 point
